4 Shandong Vicot Air Conditioning Co., Ltd. Introduction VAQ series air handling units was developed and manufactured for years, with advanced Italian technology to meet the requirement of clients. The unit features novel structure, attractive appearance and flexible assembly, stable operation, complete function and easy installation & maintenance. The parts all utilize famous brands. The moulds and equipment are all exported from Italy. The units have many functional sections: air supply, cooling, heating, humidify, dehumidify, air purify and silencing. The units are widely used in the air system of many industries like mechanical, electronic, textile, medical, metallurgy, chemical, energy and food, etc. The units are also ideal for restaurants, office buildings, hospitals, theaters, and supermarkets etc. The use can choose the most economic and optimized functions with software according to clients requirement. Features Selection by software Modular design, convenient to assemble The components was standardized, and common in application, it makes convenient in assembly and maintenance, 330mm is the basic value for each module ( Refers a M in following), the machine dimension can be changed with flexibility to meet the clients requirement to maximum limit. We provide the users with 25 standard and 52 non-standard configurations, there is 77 kinds of models, 385 kinds of specification, for option,and there are more than 20types of functional section for each model. It s framework construction, and can be flexibly assembled at site. The site assembly, maintenance and dismantle is convenient for it scientific modular design, especially for units of large or extra large size. 5 Air Handling Unit Elegant appearance and good performance of insulation A. The unit adopts aluminum alloy frame and compound aluminum alloy of high strength, which has the flowing edges 1. The aluminum alloy frame, with harden and polished surface, has features such as: high strength, exact dimension, elegant appearance, light in weight. 2. Anodizing protection film on the aluminum makes the shell more elegant and anti-corrosive. 3. Its compound aluminum alloy frame and no-cold-bridge design guarantee great air tightness and heat isolation performance. B. Heat isolation panel 1. The plenum panel is double skinned type, polystyrene or polyurethane with two steel sheets on both sides, or fire proof polyurethane made by high pressure foaming equipment, guarantees perfect heat insulation performance. 2. For high pressure foamed polyurethane panel, the exterior is colored steel or sprayed plastic steel of 0.5mm or 0.6mm, interior is same as exterior or galvanized sheet, the sound & heat insulation performance is better than other normal insulation material, and its heat conducting coefficient 0.55W/M 2.K, which meets Europe air handling unit standard EN1866T2. It has the best performance on heat and noise insulation, fire proof, strength, rigidity, cleanness, etc. Perfect sealing structure The cabinet uses special PVC sealing structure that looks like a maze, minimizing air leakage. Normal approach: This structure is to put colored steel on aluminum profile frame and fix them with bolts, which is a metal to metal contact. Due to air pressure, the panels and frame are easy to separate from each other. The appearance is not attractive due to the outside bolts. In order to avoid such situation, Vicot developed its maze like sealing structures to eliminate the metal to metal contact between panel and framework, reducing air leakage. The frame is made of aluminum alloy. The panels and frame is sealed with PVC. The cabinet has no cold bridge. The cold bridge defending ability reaches European TB1. The special double door sealing ensures airtight environment. 2

Various functional sections The air handling unit has sections followed: mixing section, preliminary filter section, medium filter section, sub HEPA filter section, HEPA filter section, cooling coil section, humidifier section, heating section, sterilization section, sound attenuator section, heat recovery section, air return section, air supply section, air discharge section and so on. Low noise Adopts double inlets forward curved centrifugal fan motor, and strict static and dynamic test has proved its stable and low noise operation. Adopted world brand fan bearings is hermetic style, no need of charging lubrication oils and any other maintenance, since it can auto-lubricate, auto-adjust core, auto-lock, anti-shuttle, etc. Quality components selection 1. Famous fan, high efficiency and low noise. 2. 3Phase asynchronous (induction) motor with protection level IP 55 and insulation level F. 3. Drop eliminator will be used when face velocity is higher than 2.5m/s. and it can be galvanized steel, aluminum alloy, stainless steel, ABS material, FRP and wet film according to client s requirement. 4. Preliminary panel filter at G4 class, or low velocity preliminary bag filter at class G4, medium bag filter made of melt-blown non-woven web or import glass fiber, small resistance, filtering class up to F5,F6,F7,F8, dense fold style sub HEPA filter, filtering class up to F9,F10. Optional accessories/function Optional devices Several automatic control items are optional according the client s requirement, such as: temperature and humidity controller at air supply and air return section, anti-freezing control, filter blocking control, fresh air damper and fan motor simultaneous control, indoor/outdoor temperature difference compensation energy saving control, building management system control, etc. Optional Variable air flow function VICOT use asynchronous three phase motor with characteristic of pressure adjustment and speed change, then the AHU changes its air flow and save energy by the inverter speed adjuster. It can be a constant air flow AHU without pressure adjuster. Inverter speed regulation structure is simple and practical; it has its own soft starter, less impact to electricity facility when the motor starts. Inverter speed adjuster can change the speed steplessly to change air flow and save energy according to the temperature/humidity detected at indoor temp. and humidity sensor. We uses inverter from DANFOSS ABB SIEMENS, etc. According to the design, relative control-box can be equipped, which has the following functions: total pressure and star triangle start and stop, phase missing, overload, uneven phases, electrical protection, motor over heat, over current, and malfunction alarm etc. 3

Please contact with us to get pressure data at various pressures. 4) Electrical heater section The performance of electrical heater should be designed according to client s requirement. 1. Electrical heater must turn on after the fan motor is running, and turn off before the fan motor stop running, there must be one inter reaction device for on/off between the fan motor and electrical heater. 2. The casing of electric heater must be earthed. 3. Insulating resistance must be checked before the first operation, it can operate only when it is higher than 1MΩ. If the insulating performance decreased due to long time no use or uncared maintenance, it should be heated or energized to recover its insulation. If it cannot be recovered, it should be not applied. 4. Check its insulating resistance periodically. 5. Turn off the power before maintenance. 19

23 Air Handling Unit 5) Humidifier selection Wet film is a kind of polymer composites, has super water absorbing performance, and can purify the air. The selection of wet film humidifier 1. Definite each square meter s humidification amount=effective humidification amount/effective humidification area (coil face area) 2. Definite the thickness of the wet film, according to humidification amount required for each square meter. 1) High pressure spraying humidification efficiency is usually 30% to 40%, and the water pressure is 0.1~0.5MPa. Humidification amount=spraying amount humidifying efficiency 2) High pressure spraying humidifier is not suggested for save energy when the humidification amount is more than 170kg/h. Its cover is made of galvanized steel, the height is just 15 inch (380mm) or 18 inch (456mm). The framework is compacted and elegant. 48 Shandong Vicot Air Conditioning Co., Ltd Installation and maintenance Installation Take out the unit s manual and packaging list before the installation. Check the product s model and the components as well as the shell. Open the access door and turn the fans with hand, if there is any collision sound, tackle the problem in time. The air handling unit should be fixed horizontally on the base, which could be concrete or steel made and should be even, 160mm higher than the ground. Floor drain and gutter around the base should be provided to discharge condensed water or dirty water when clean the unit. And enough space should be provided for maintenance. Heat exchanger adopts up-in & down-out style (water inlet at down side and water outlet at the up side). The pipeline needs exclusive supporter, and not to allow it bear the weight of unit. Stop valve should be equipped on water inlet pipe and outlet pipe to adjust water flow or turn off it in maintenance. Equip filter at inlet pipe to discharge sundries, equip air discharge valve at the highest point of system and water discharge valve at the lowest point. The lowest pipe is the drain pipe for condensed water, which should be connected with U type pipe before the sewer, because of the negative pressure factor. (Refer the water sealing diagram) There should be flexible connection between ducts and the unit, and exclusive supporter should be provided to the duct, not to allow it bear the weight of unit. Check the power supply is as specified before turn on the unit, and check the direction of rotation of fan motor after trial operation, if it s in reverse direction, should stop the machine and change its the phase. There must be protection devices between the fan motor and its power supply, its casing must be earthed, reduced voltage starting should be used when the fan motor power input is more than 15Kw. The phase failure or overload protection should be included in the power control device that to be provided by user. Enough space should be kept at the access door and at the side for filter pulling out. Operation The manual, motorized valves should be checked to see if feasible or not before operation. Check the bolts of each component tight or loose, belt is suitable tight or not, impeller rotates normally and stable or not. Check if all the valves of ducting system is in working condition or not, water piping system is normal or not, electrical system is normal or not, and no error on each items or wiring in control box. Exhaust the air in the unit and system before operation. The filter should be cleaned or replaced regularly. Lubrication oil should be added to the fan motor and motor lubricating point according to environment and working condition. Professional maintenance worker is required to have regular inspection of operation and correct malfunction when necessary. Pay attention on tightness and isolation of the air and water system, to avoid energy lose. Repair or replace the flexible connection if any damage or out of use due to aging factor. The fan motor should be turned on 5 to 10 minutes later than the connection of heat source in very cold area in winter, to avoid ice blocking in heat exchanger, and keep certain amount of hot water to circulated in coil to avoid rusting and freezing when stop the machine. 45

49 Air Handling Unit Maintenance Drain out the water completely, and blow all the water in coil with compressed air to avoid damage caused by freezing when no running the machine in winter. Fill the coil with water when in season not in use, to reduce rusting, and it must be completely drained out to avoid damage caused by freezing in winter. Close fresh air damper, discharge water within exchanger, charge lubricating oil when the unit is not use for long time. within the system should be clean, and it s better to be dematerialized water.
