The tank is fully insulated and is engineered for a continuous flow. Sizes 200 and l. Sizes 300 to l. Sizes 500 to l. The purpose of such device is to increase the circuit inertia when necessary, for example with short water loops. A high circuit inertia reduces the compressors cycling to increase the compressors life span and also smoothes the water temperature for comfort or demanding processes. 4 CG-PRC010-E4

15 Application considerations Optimum performance of CGAN and CXAN units will be achieved only if proper application guidelines are followed. Where the application varies from the guidelines presented, it should be reviewed with your local Trane sales engineer. Unit sizing Unit capacities are listed in the Performance Data section. Intentionally oversizing a unit to assure adequate capacity is not recommended. Erratic system operation and excessive compressor cycling are often a direct result of an oversized unit. In addition, an oversized unit is usually more expensive to purchase, install and operate. If oversizing is desired, consider using two units. drainage Insure there is adequate drainage to drain away water from the unit in the event of shutdown or repair. Vertical clearance Vertical condenser air discharge must be unobstructed. While it is difficult to predict the degree of warm air recirculation, a unit installed as shown in Figure 1 would have its capacity and efficiency significantly reduced possibly to the degree of nuisance high head pressure tripouts. Performance data is based on free air discharge. Figure 1 Unit placement Foundation A base or foundation is not required if the selected unit location is level and strong enough to support the unit operating weight. Isolation and sound emission Structurally transmitted sound is reduced by using rubber pads isolators provided as standard. They have to be installed between the unit and the ground. 4 or 6 rubber pads are provided to avoid contact between the unit and the ground. Sound emission or structural vibration can be reduced by using other rubber pad isolators between the unit and the ground. An acoustical engineer should always be consulted on critical applications. 16 Application considerations Lateral clearance The condenser coil inlet must not be obstructed. A unit installed closer than the minimum recommended distance to a wall or other vertical riser may experience a combination of coil starvation and warm air recirculation, resulting in unit capacity and efficiency reductions and possible excessive head pressures. The recommended lateral clearances are given in the certified drawings for multiple chiller installation up to 3 units. For more than 3 chillers applications, check with the local Trane sales engineer. Walled enclosure installations When the unit is placed in an enclosure or small depression, the top of the fans should be no lower than the top of the enclosure or depression. If they are, consideration should be given to ducting the top of the unit. Ducting individual fans, however, is not recommended. Such applications should always be reviewed with the local Trane sales engineer. Parameters which influence the water temperature stability - Number of capacity step. - Minimum time between two starts of a compressor. - loop volume. - Load fluctuations. Minimum water volume for a comfort application For comfort application we can allow water temperature fluctuation at part load. The parameter to take into account is the minimum operating time of the compressor. In order to avoid lubrication problem on a scroll compressor it must run at least 2 minutes (120 seconds) before it stops. It is important to check that the total water loop volume is at least equal to the value indicated in Table 7. For specific applications or for additional information, refer to the chiller IOM or contact your local sales office. Minimal installation water content The water volume is an important parameter because it allows a stable chilled water temperature and avoids short cycle operation of the compressors.
