4 1 INTRODUCTION The aim of this catalogue is to be an efficient instrument of work for the operators of the field selecting the Air Handling Units among the range of WESTAIR production. It is the result of a deep knowledge of the airaulic field, achieved thanks to the contribution of qualified engineers and to the daily recordings and checks in the yards. Upon this strength, WESTAIR can pursue the Company objectives of quality and reliability of its products, of customers satisfaction and constant research of technological improvements. The restrictions imposed by this chart are mostly due to the following reasons: a) formation of moisture and water drops in cooling handlings with humidification or de-humidification b) short life of filtering components and their short efficiency c) water entrainment, in case of rain, through the non-ducted air inlets d) noise caused by the air crossing on grids or dampers 1.1 STANDARD UNITS The standard units series are manufactured in 21 modular models of air volumes from m 3 /h to m 3 /h. 1.2 SPECIAL UNITS It is possible to supply Air Handling Units, having dimensions settled according to specific needs and air volumes that can reach m 3 /h for one single unit. 1.4 AIR VOLUMES The sizes of the standard units and the air volumes referred to different crossing speeds are shown in Fig. 2: - Unit size W - Width mm H - Height mm excluding the supporting base - ment SF - Area of coils frontal section m 2 PA - Unit air volume m 3 /h, corresponding to different air speeds through the coils 1.3 SIZE CHOICE The choice of the size of an Air Handling Unit is mostly made according to two parameters: the air quantity to handle in m 3 /h and the speed through the coil in m/s. In order to guarantee the optimal functionality of the components contained into the Air Handling units (coils, filters, droplet eliminators, dampers, supply or return grids, etc.), WESTAIR suggests to adopt the parameters for the crossing speed of the component shown (Fig. 1). 4

A progressive numeration has been assigned to each section typology, as shown on (Fig. 1). The composition of a standard unit and therefore the calculation of its actual length is given by the sum of all modular sections needed by the handling required. Example 48 composed by: - mixing box 2 dampers 100% - prefilter section and bag filters on frame - 6R cooling coil section with droplet eliminator - supply air fan section; fan size 315 The sections to compose will be: - 365: mixing box 2 dampers L = 550 mm - 410: filtering section L = 500 mm - 630: cooling section L = 500 mm - 205: fan section L = 1250 mm - 105: closing L = 0 mm Total length (monobloc version): L = 2800 mm Total length (version in 2 sections): it is necessary to add the section 110: divider section L = 50 mm, thus: L = 2850 mm It is also necessary to consider that: - the width W of the units doesn t include the handles jut of around 50 m] and the headers jut of around 100 mm - the heights H don t include the baseframe, whose B height is different according to the Unit size. The total weight of the casing is obtained from the sum of each single section weight composing the Unit. Then it is necessary to add the fan, motor and coil/s weight. Filters weights are already included in the sections weight.
