1 How Let me tell you a bit about a running joke among our family. Anytime we travel with the Miller s (Jim & Mindy) and someone needs something, Mindy has it. She always carries her magic bag. Whatever you need, she s got it in there. It s almost like the magician s hat, but without the doves and rabbits. It s more like a Walgreen s in there, what with the pharmaceuticals, firsttems, snacks, health & beauty items, greeting cards and magazines. I, for one, have been saved more than once by the magic bag. It s bottomless, I swear! The lesson to be learned here, of course, is Volume 25 Issue 3 March 2014 to be prepared! Spies report that the car's front overhang seems to have grown, possibly to meet tougher European pedestriansafety standards. They note the wheelbase appears to be longer than today's car as well. Given Mazda's emphasis on weight reduction on its current lineup--from the Mazda 3 compact car to the Mazda 6 mid-size sedan--we expect similar measures to keep a tight rein on the new MX-5's curb weight, too. As for performance, there is no solid information, though earlier reports suggested a turbocharged 1.3- liter four-cylinder engine could be the powerplant for Mazda's model. The Alfa will likely feature a version of the 1.75-liter turbo four found in the 4C. The new MX-5 will enter production next year and will hopefully be in showrooms by the fall; its Alfa cousin will arrive sometime in Stay tuned for updates as development of both cars progresses.

Columbus Auto Show Hi everyone, Next Thursday thru Sunday (March 13th-16th), the Columbus Auto Show is in town at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. I mentioned at last night s meeting that Friday, March 14th is senior s day with a reduced ticket cost of $5.00 (instead of $10.00 at the door, or $8.00 online). Mike Fisher Twenty-six years after it was introduced at the 1989 Chicago Auto Show, the much anticipated fourth generation Mazda MX-5 Miata will meet the press at the 2015 Chicago show. A piece in Autocar refines some of the details on the larger, lighter Miata that a Mazda insider has said will be "our best-looking car ever." The company has relented on the quest for the metric tonne, the 1000-kilogram (2,200-pound) target too difficult to achieve in light of cost constraints. You can still expect it to lose a generous dollop of weight - Autocar says a curb weight of 1,100 kg (2,420 pounds) will still make it the lightest in its class. And Mazda will be stressing a fun driving experience through light weight and a modest amount of naturally-aspirated horsepower. Engine capacities of 1.5 and 2.0 liters are expected. Sounds familiar (and good), right? The Miata's interpretation of Kodo design will veer from that found on the Mazda3 and Mazda6, with "very clean and simple" lines marking out "more muscular proportions" and elongated bodywork on a longer wheelbase. A stretched engine bay will make room for the current Skyactiv engine and perhaps the future Skyactiv 2 powerplants, initial reports suggesting there could be a 30-percent increase in fuel economy from the moment it arrives. Two flavors of top-down operation will continue, those being the soft- and folding hardtop. That next iteration of the hardtop will reportedly lose weight and take up less space, making for a bigger bit of space in the trunk. The next Miata will go on sale in 2015, supposedly joined at some point by the Alfa Romeo brother it will share a platform with.

About sixteen people attended and had a wonderful time. Soine Vineyards is a local winery north of Powell in Delaware county. We will gather at the Homestead Scioto Reserve clubhouse (4663 Oakland Ridge Drive, Powell, red building) at 5:30 PM and travel together, for those who do not know where the winery is located. If you know where the winery is located, feel free to meet us there Clark Shaw Road, Powell is their address. Parking is in a grass field. Their web is The winery has a tasting bar to determine your best selection if you want to buy any bottles. Last year you got 6 one oz. tastes of the wine of your choice for $5.00. Price should be the same. Annie Hawe is singing again this year and she is great and takes recommendations. She was there last year and because everyone enjoyed her singing so much, that is why we chose this date. Plan to bring something to eat for dinner (subs, fried chicken, sandwiches, chips, etc. Don't forget some cookies :-) or special treats.)
