The increased vehicle length and wheelbase as well as the specifically optimised interior width are noticeable and tangible. The improved all-round visibility also contributes to the positive sense of spaciousness. The luggage compartment has additionally grown in size: with a greater capacity and thanks to smart 2-piece tail lights significantly more convenient to load. 5 Enhanced Active Brake Assist Standard on all models Active Brake Assist can help prevent serious accidents due to insufficient distance or inattentiveness. The system issues a visual and acoustic warning of an impending collision. If the brake force applied is too gentle, it offers additional braking power for the situation. If the driver does not react at all, Active Brake Assist will attempt to diffuse as much energy as possible with an autonomous brake application. This can prevent accidents or at least lessen their severity. The system can also autonomously brake up to a speed of approx. 60 km/h for stationary vehicles and crossing pedestrians. Depending on the situation, Active Brake Assist can prevent collisions up to a speed of 50 km/h. 6 Key features: Radar-based driving assistance system with mono camera Distance warning: warning lamp in the multifunction display when the safe distance is too small Collision warning: additional audible warning if the distance continues to close rapidly and a collision is imminent Autonomous emergency braking, which is additionally initiated after the dynamic warning if the danger of a collision persists (if the driver fails to react) Situation-dependent braking assistance as soon as the driver brakes If the driver initiates emergency braking and if necessary the brake pressure increases thanks to situation-dependent braking assistance Adjustment options for intervention points: early, medium and late

In combination with Blind Spot Assist, the included Rear Cross Traffic Alert warns the driver of cross traffic while reversing out of parking spaces and can even initiate autonomous braking if necessary.

14 LINGUATRONIC Voice Control Optional on all models Experience and enjoy voice control at a fascinating new level fixed commands are a thing of the past. Thanks to its comprehension of natural speech (US English, CAN French & MEX Spanish), the LINGUATRONIC voice control in MBUX obeys practically every word once activated with the key phrase Hey Mercedes or via the voice control button on the steering wheel. It recognizes and understands almost every sentence occurring in the infotainment functions and vehicle operation. The system can also process indirect speech the air conditioning will for example already respond to "I feel cold" and gradually increase the temperature setting. At the same time the voice control is capable of learning. It attunes itself to your voice, and also understands non-native speakers better. The software models on the server also learn new in-words or changes in use of language over time. Moreover, the system no longer gives stereotyped answers, but also varies its speech output. Another advantage is that if you enter characters on the touchpad, LINGUATRONIC can output them acoustically if you wish. 15
