1 HONDA CIVIC 2017 The all-new tenth generation Civic has been completely re-designed and re-engineered, inside and out. As well as being lighter and stiffer than the previous model, it has more interior space and headroom and comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, Honda SENSING, as standard across the model range. The front grille has been designed to reduce engine cooling air loss. Ultra High Strength Steels (UHSS) of 1500 MPa are used in the A post, B post and sill panel reinforcements and the roof front header rail. The vehicle manufacturer stipulates that these panels must never be repaired and must always be replaced if damaged. 980 MPa steels are used in the sill panel inner, the wing front side reinforcements and small reinforcement panels around the vehicle. The front chassis legs are 980 MPa and the rear chassis legs are 590 MPa. The vehicle manufacturers repair methods currently stipulate that the chassis legs cannot be sectioned. Thatcham Research will investigate this further when creating its own repair methods. The vehicle manufacturer also stipulates that the door impact beams and the front and rear bumper reinforcements must never be repaired and must always be replaced if damaged. ``ADVANCED DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS (ADAS) Honda SENSING is a suite of ADAS systems that comprises: Collision Mitigation Braking System Lane Departure Warning Lane Keeping Assist System Road Departure Mitigation Traffic Sign Recognition Intelligent Speed Limiter Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Following (Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) equipped vehicles only) Honda SENSING is standard fitment across the Civic range. 2

3 Collision Mitigation Braking System an Autonomous Emergency Braking system, utilising the front end radar and windscreen mounted camera. The system will identify the proximity of vehicles and pedestrians in front. If the system detects an imminent collision, with no driver interaction, it will warn the driver. If the driver fails to respond, the brakes will be automatically applied, helping to avoid a collision or reducing its impact. Lane Departure Warning the system will give a visible and audible warning if it detects the vehicle moving out of lane without the driver indicating to do so. Lane Keeping Assist System the system utilises the windscreen mounted camera to detect road lane markings and applies steering correction if it detects the vehicle moving out of lane. Road Departure Mitigation similar to Lane Keeping Assist, but also utilises the front end radar and can also apply braking. Traffic Sign Recognition the system recognises traffic signs and can display up to two of them in the driver display. Intelligent Speed Limiter automatically sets the vehicle speed to that detected by the Traffic Sign Recognition system. Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control utilising the windscreen mounted camera and the front end radar, adjusts the vehicle speed to maintain a set distance to the vehicle in front, it can also pre-empt when another vehicle is going to cut in front and will adjust your vehicle speed accordingly to maintain a safe distance. Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Following (CVT equipped vehicles only) similar to Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control but also has the ability to decelerate the vehicle to a stop if the traffic stops and re-start again when the traffic starts to flow. Blind Spot Information Utilises radar sensors, located one each side behind the rear bumper, to detect vehicles approaching the vehicles blind spot. If a vehicle is detected, a light will illuminate in the appropriate door mirror. If the indicator is activated, the light will flash and an audible warning will sound to alert the driver. Cross Traffic Monitor when driving in reverse, the system utilises radar sensors, located one each side behind the rear bumper, to detect vehicles approaching from either side and will provide visible and audible warning to the driver if another vehicle is detected. Multi-Angle Rear View Camera provides a wide angle or top down view of the area to the rear of the vehicle and displays it on the 7 touchscreen. 3

Wireless charging is standard fit on the Sport Plus and Prestige and allows smart phones to be charged on the integrated charging mat. 4
