Sharing the muscular proportions and some of the technical feats found in the AMG GT R Coupe, the AMG GT C Roadster takes open-top motoring to a whole new exhilarating level. The already rigid body shell structure has been specifically reinforced further to take account of the car's design as a roadster. Further, the three-layered fabric soft top is supported by a magnesium/steel/aluminum structure of low weight, which helps to keep the center of gravity low. Additional rollover protection is provided by an integrated aluminum cross-member with rollover bars. 27 Unique Selling Points Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster Creature Comforts Being a part of the AMG GT family, extreme performance is a given. Standard AIR SCARF and climate controlled performance seats ensure comfort is also a priority. Open-Air Performance The AMG GT C combines a new level of driving dynamics with the enhanced sensation of open-air motoring. Radical acceleration, sensational grip, and aural bliss all come standard. 28 Usually, we don't love when an automaker chops the roof off a car originally intended to be a hardtop, but the GT C Roadster look like incredibly compelling package. No roof means you can hear AMG's glorious V8 all the better, and it looks like it brings some serious performance upgrades. We can't wait to find out how it drives. Road & Track The soundtrack is nearly overwhelming, with the fantastically aggressive exhaust note almost totally drowning out the mechanical sounds of the direct-injected 4.0- liter twin-turbo V-8. There s a bellow when the throttle blips on downshifts and a crackle when you let off the gas. Car and Driver After five miles in slow traffic, we notice the GT C has a choppy ride, and so we try to put the adaptive dampers in Comfort mode except they re already in Comfort. With 265/35R-19 Michelin Pilot Sport tires up front and 305/30R-20s in the back, the GT C is tuned for grip, not Las Vegas Boulevard cruising. Automobile
