12 Expected Benefits to the State An integrated electric mass transit system has the following benefits to Hyderabad s public transportation: Pollution reduction: An EV feeder service at 1 metro station alone is expected to save 1800 tonnes of CO2 reduction over 5 years. Efficient mass transportation with increased accessibility & reduced travel time. Seamless payment avoids cash hassles and saves time. With telematics technology built-in, vehicles are always connected to the central system. These vehicles can be remotely tracked, monitored & diagnosed. Affordable commuting at affixed low-fare to the commuters. Diesel savings : An EV feeder service fleet at 1 metro station alone is expected to save 5.5 lac litres of diesel worth Rs Crore over 5 years with the current estimates. Creation of a smart & sustainable public commuting system, a move in the direction of creation of a Smart City. 12
