2 YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE : THE VISIT OF THE DISCOVERY CENTER DOESN T INCLUDE A VISIT OF THE PLANT BECAUSE OF THE STRENGTHENING OF THE PLAN VIGIPIRATE (NATIONAL SECURITY PROGRAM) AND THE RANCE PROJECT (PROJECT OF RENOVATION OF THE PLANT DURING 10 YEARS, BEGUN IN 2011). HOWEVER, A GLASS WINDOW OFFERS A PANORAMIC VIEW OF THE INTERIOR OF THE MACHINERY ROOM FROM THE DISCOVERY CENTER. All group visits, with or without a guide, are free but require pre-booking. Any visit reservation request must be made in writing (mail or ) at least 48 hours before the intended date of visit. The Discovery center accepts no booking option and any uncertain or incomplete applications will not be processed. Without confirmation from us, the visit is not in any case reserved.

3 1) Visit terms INFORMATIONS The Discovery center offers guided tours for groups all year long on reservation, following the opening schedule 2016 available in this document. The appointment is at the reception of the EDF Discovery center of the Rance Tidal Power Station to La Richardais (see access map). Visit The tour can be done with or without a guide : - Guided tours: The tour lasts 1 hour and is possible for children from the age of 10. The guide obviously suits the level of knowledge of his interlocutors (children, the public, engineers). Visits can be made in English, French, or other languages if an interpreter is present in the group. - The free visits (without a guide): The tour takes 45 min. and booking remains mandatory. The tour is available with no age limit. The tour concerns only educational and ludic scenography (information boards, videos and interactive modules) All the informations are translated into English and German, the videos are subtitled in English. Documentation is available at the entrance in French, English, German, Dutch, Spanish and Italian. Group Capacity For reasons of safety and comfort for visitors, the group must consist of at least 10 persons and 30 persons maximum. Example: If the number of visitors is 80 persons, we will divide the group by 3. If the number of visitors is 50 persons, we will divide the group by 2. If the number falls below 10 persons (many absentees) the tour is canceled. If the visit requires multiple groups, the visit will be by rotation. An external circuit, consisting of 12 informative boards and a viewpoint, is allowing the groups to wait in turn.

4 VISIT CONTENT The visit of the Discovery center will treat three main themes treated with more or less details depending of the type of the group: 1st theme: EDF and power generation The electricity in the world and in the news The various means of EDF s production (energetic mix) Energy savings The hydroelectric production The hydraulic safety 2nd theme: The Rance tidal power plant The flora and fauna of the Rance s estuary The Rance s from the source to the estuary The tidal phenomenon The 3 specificities of the plant : the functioning of the bulb-unit, a huge construction (with the creation of the «caquots») and the cathodic protection The energies of the future: marine turbines... 3rd theme: Description and functioning of the machinery room (panoramic view)

5 2) Booking terms INFORMATIONS For any question or additional information about your visit, you can contact us by phone at or by mail to Regarding your request and for a better process, thank you to send us the following informations: - The wished visit day and visit time - The type of group (school, family, friends, association, companies,...) - Total number of participants - Presence of children and their age - Presence of persons with reduced mobility - The name of the organizer and a number of a cell phone to join you in case of problems. Note: You can send us any additional information you deem appropriate in order to better prepare your visit. Modification of your reservation Any change on the booked visit (time, number of people, etc.) must be communicated as soon as possible, it will be considered depend of availability. Delay In case of a delay of a group, the organizer must absolutely prevent the Discovery center by phone at +33(0) The visit time length will be proportionally shortened according to the duration of the accumulated lateness. Being up to 30minutes late can cause a cancellation of the visit. Cancelling your visit For cancellation, the organizer must absolutely prevent the Discovery center at least 24 hours before the scheduled time of the visit by or post. Important information: In case of evolution of the plan VIGIPIRATE (national security program against terrorism), a cancellation is possible. EDF reserves the right to cancel the visit for security reasons, unforeseen construction works or any reason independent from its will.

7 MAP situation of Rance tidal power Plant From Saint-Malo : Go up to the end of the dam (Dinardside) and turn on the left after the lock to park on the car park (Ranceside).To cross the road in complete safety, borrow the tunnel under ground, then follow signs " Discovery center/visit". A parking lot is fitted out for the people with reduced mobility at the end of the dam on the right side(sea side). To facilitate you the access, an elevator is close to the entrance of the Discovery center. From Dinard : At the entrance of the dam, just before the lock, turn on the right to park on the car park (Ranceside). To cross the road in complete safety, borrow the tunnel under ground, then follow signs "Discovery center/visit ". A parking lot is fitted out for the people with reduced mobility set to the right side (sea side). To facilitate you the access, an elevator is close to the entrance of the Discovery center.
