2 Touchscreen controlled Easy or full CNC cylindrical grinding machines ULTRAM Wheelhead options, robust construction & innovative design Wheelheads Robust plain straight approach, external only, and Angle Head options. Wheels up to 500 x 80mm and optional programmable constant peripheral wheel speed. Swivelling Universal and Full B axis wheelhead options, have as standard air cushion lift and pneumatic clamping. Both are equipped with left & right hand wheels and a belt driven internal grinding system ready to accept an optional internal spindle. The Full B axis wheelhead incorporates a high precision worm & wheel assembly for infinitely variable rotation to All wheels are provided with retractable wheel guards. Workheads and tailstocks A live & dead centre swivel base workhead is provided for all models except the Angle Head which has a heavy duty, dead centre, fixed base unit. All workheads have ported coolant for thermal stability and are air purged. Both incorporate high precision taper roller bearings for superior stiffness and a variable speed drive via a synchronous belt which allows direct programmed speed (r.p.m.) or constant surface speed (m/sec.) of the workpiece. A robust, lever operated high accuracy, taper correction tailstock is provided as standard on most models. Main machine castings Generously proportioned, high quality cast iron, bed, underslide, backslide and table, each casting designed to provide excellent rigidity. Slideways Bed/underslide is a Vee & Flat configuration, the wheelhead backslide operates on twin Vee ways. All slideways are hand scraped, with one surface Turcite coated, all have automatic lubrication Axes All axes are controlled & positioned by Fanuc Digital AC servo motors with 50 nanometre Heidenhain Absolute linear scale feedback.

Jones & Shipman easy-to-use icon based software with Fanuc touchscreen control can interpolate two axes simultaneously to enable precision grinding of complex shapes, angles and diameters. Easy manual, semi or fully automatic operation. Self Teach software enables inexperienced & experienced operators alike to be immediately more productive. The operator is offered three modes of operation; Manual, Dress or Grind by simple single membrane button selection. All controls are immediately to hand for setting and manual operation when required. Quick set automatic dressing & grinding cycles enable unmanned operation. Dress on demand with full compensation. 4 CNC control CNC - Dress & Grind screens Faster set-up and operating efficiency Ultramat software is designed to minimise set-up times, fundamental in reducing machined component costs whilst maximising manufacturing output Easy to follow set-up pages with graphical images allow the operator to digitise diamond and wheel positions by means of a simple user-friendly touchscreen interface This graphical programming removes the requirement for operators to input complex code, subsequently reducing set-up and operator training costs ISO programming is fully supported and codes can also be easily viewed and used at any time as each method of modification updates the other seamlessly within the program Hardware The Ultramat CNC incorporates a Fanuc 0i-TD touch-screen CNC control with a Windows embedded system. For improved reliability a large integrated Flash memory module is provided, in place of a hard drive, for part program storage. A remote pendant is provided, incorporating a 2 line LCD display & function buttons, which together provide access to an extensive range of operating features. The latest technologies are used, Ethernet connection to enable all programs to be managed via a PC or network giving the extra information needed for complete traceability, plus, USB, PC card and RS232 to assure full flexibility and enable quick cost-effective integration to be easily implemented
