4 Methodology Construction of Vehicle Accumulation Profiles (VAPs) : Using the information on the trips, it is possible to follow the driver and his vehicle in time and space, also to determine the number of parked cars in a spatial zone at a given time. 4
5 Methodology Questions regarding the parking type at the end of the car trip were asked since 1998 : 1998 : center of the island of Montreal 2003 and 2008 : whole island of Montréal What about the rest of the territory? 5

7 Methodology assumptions Trip time : unknown, default value of the trip time is the Euclidean distance trip time at the speed of 50 km/h; Vehicles not moving : It is impossible to know the exact percentage of vehicles used by a persons in a household; an minimization of the vehicles use is supposed; Origin and destination location : different from the parking location, but they are supposed to be close enough, therefore the distance is neglected. 7
