The building is an 84,000 sq. ft. facility, encompassing a 40k square foot hangar with a two story office complex wrapped around it. It s a stage 2 hangar (NFPA codes), with a foam fire suppression system. The lobby is 40 high with a full glass wall to view the runway. The lobby, walkways and hangar floors are radiant heated with a glycol/water mix. Pro Con Construction won the American Builders and Contractors Association award for excellence in construction in 2009 for the facility. 1

Steve Smith is a co-owner of Smith Pump, which began business in 1936 in Wilmington, Massachusetts and was incorporated in New Hampshire in They drill wells for domestic, industrial and municipal applications and install pumps for the same. Other services include pump stations, flow tests, hydrofracturing, well video taping, and water sources for ground water heat systems throughout New England. Carl Orio of Water Energy Distributors started his involvement with geothermal heat pumps in 1974 as founder and President of WESCORP. There he manufactured approximately 2,000 geothermal heat pumps and distributed them throughout the northern US and Canada until Since that time he has been a geothermal heat pump systems designer, and has been involved in well over 10,000 geothermal heat pump installations, both commercial and residential. 2

A NEW WAY TO REGISTER FOR MEETINGS: We will no longer be registering for meetings by reply. That process required someone to take the information from every and transfer it to a spreadsheet. That s a fairly time consuming process. We are now using a program called Survey Monkey that will automatically compile the information you send in to generate a list of everyone attending and the number of meals. For the meetings where we have a meal choice, it will also compile how many of each kind of meal we need. This will save a lot of time and eliminate the potential for errors when transferring information. We hope that you will find this as easy as our test runs have been. So go to answer the questions, and then submit the survey. When I open it, it will give me a list of who is coming (including guests) and how many of each meal we need. It will also be easy for us to ask additional questions about past and future tours. Let us know what you think. 4

5 HERE S WHAT YOU MISSED LAST MONTH! We were treated to a very interesting and informative tour compliments of the management and staff of TURBOCAM. Afterwards we enjoyed a fully catered meal at the tour site followed by a presentation by Professor Ralph Draper from UNH who updated us on the Engineering Technology Program and the role that industry plays in the internship program. TURBOCAM's international headquarters and largest manufacturing facilities are located in New Hampshire on the east coast of the United States of America. With approximately 250 employees, capacity at TURBOCAM USA is constantly expanding with new staff and machines. The company's 50+ five-axis milling machines support impeller and blisk production up to 1066mm in diameter (42"). The headquarters company is home to corporate R&D, and skills in NDT, balancing, stress analysis, automation, computer science and aero design. The latest addition is their mass production company TURBOCAM Automated Production Systems (TAPS). TAPS has many high-speed multi-axis milling spindles running 24 hours a day in an automated environment, enabling low cost, high quality, and high volume production. 5
