2 INTRODUCTION The range brings all the benefits of an LED source to our popular EXI range of Exit Sign luminaires. This luminaire range offers significant energy savings and minimal maintenance compared to our standard EXI fluorescent range. The EXI LED range has been further enhanced with the addition of self test and autotest options allowing you to minimise the inconvenience and cost of emergency testing. All legends are compliant with the safety signs directive 92/58/EEC, other sign formats can be provided on request. 6 M3 WARRANTY All Dextra products are supplied with a 12 month warranty for any defect that may occur with the product during this time. Any defect will either be repaired on site free of charge or the defective product may be replaced on a chargeable basis and credit given against defective product returned. The course of action taken will be at our discretion and dependent on the nature of the defect. The control gear within our high frequency and LED luminaires is further underwritten by our suppliers for a period of up to 5 years in total from the time of purchase. This comprises labour and parts for the first 3 years and free of charge components only for the final 2 years. PROTEC LED FR 8W GU10 luminaires and all Emergency LED ranges such as LED 3, EXI, HBE, OAT, OEZ, AME, OEH and TWS * are exempt from the 5 year warranty and are supplied with 1 year warranty only. PROTEC LED COB luminaires are supplied with a three year warranty for replacement luminaires only. All warranties are subject to correct use of the product and will be invalidated by misuse, for example incorrect installation or unsuitable environmental conditions. It is the duty of the customer to ensure that all relevant tests have been carried out prior to requesting site visits or replacement products, for example replacement of lamps, commissioning of sensors and inspection of external wiring. In the event that no defect is found with the product our costs for attending site will be recharged to the customer and credit will not be issued against returned products. No consequential losses incurred resulting from any defect with our product will be reimbursed. Consumable commodities such as lamps, starters and batteries are excluded from these warranty terms. 7 5 year warranty on LED product ranges is subject to a maximum of 4000 operating hours per year and only applies where failures exceed the component manufacturers expected failure rate and lumen depreciation. 8 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 8W T5 and LED Versions DIL000043_C WARNING : BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO INSTALL OR REPAIR THIS FITTING, ISOLATE THE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FROM THE AC MAINS. THIS FITTING MUST BE ELECTRICALLY EARTHED. INTRODUCTION These instructions are issued to provide relevant information concerning the handling, installation, use, maintenance and disposal of emergency luminaires. It is important that these instructions and relevant installation, operating and commissioning instructions are read thoroughly before any installation work commences. These must also be retained on file to provide information on use, maintenance and disposal at a later date by the end user. INSTALLATION. 1 Mount the body of the luminaire in the desired position via the fixing holes on the back of the body (remove the appropriate cable entry blanking plug at this stage). Special consideration should be made as to the orientation of this luminaire, ensuring both the sign and LED (positioned on the outside of the luminaire) are easily visible. Also note the presence of a secondary diffuser fixed to the body of the luminaire, light will also be emitted from this direction. Connect the mains supply(ies) to the terminal block provided (as detailed on 2 internal label). 3 Ensure the battery pack is connected to the PCB. 4 The battery pack must be marked with the date of installation/commissioning. 5 To fit the diffuser, remove the diffuser retaining plate that is secured with screws. Fit the diffuser ensuring it is in the correct orientation and located between the guide rails. 6 Refit the retaining plate. Check that no wires are trapped and all fastenings are secure. NOTES : a) This luminaire should not be used in areas requiring ingress protection of greater than IP20. b) Wiring to luminaires must be routed to avoid area above control gear. c) This luminaire is only suitable for domestic and light industrial environments which are within the scope of EN d) Not for use in hazardous areas. e)internal USE ONLY GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR EMERGENCY LIGHTING LUMINAIRES GENERAL All emergency lighting luminaires supplied are designed and manufactured to conform with relevant British Standard specifications. It is important that the user does not modify any luminaire or use them for a purpose, or in an environment for which the luminaires are not designed. Any modifications may render the luminaires unsafe and will invalidate the warranty and CE compliance of the product. Unless otherwise stated all luminaires have an enclosure rating of IP20 All luminiares 'F' marked are suitable for mounting on normally flammable surfaces. Unless otherwise stated all luminaires are designed to operate in a maximum ambient temperature of 25 C. All luminaires unless otherwise stated are designed for direct connection to a standard mains supply as so indicated on the luminaire. All switching etc. shall comply with BS5266 part 1 & the latest IEE regulations. Unless specifically permitted luminaires shall NOT be connected to or be controlled by an energy management system. Maintained T5 luminaires should NOT be switched on/off in excess of twice in any 24 hour period, as this can lead to blacking of the lamp and therefore reduce the effectiveness of the luminiare in the case of an emergency. INSTALLATION Installation must only be carried out by a competent electrician and in accordance with the installation and commissioning instructions supplied with each luminiare. Installation must be carried out in accordance with: a) Regulations for Electrical Installations, Published by the Institute of Electrical Engineers. b) Requirements of BS 5266 part1 Insulation testing should be in accordance with the latest IEE regulations and should not exceed 500V DC between Live and Neutral connected together and Earth. COMMISSIONING/TESTING The unit should be left on charge for a minimum of 24 hours before being tested for it's rated duration. After connecting the mains supply check that: a) The green LED is illuminated. This indicates that the battery is being charged correctly b) The luminiare will energise the lamp under emergency conditions by removing the mains supply. Routine testing should be carried out in accordance with the instructions as indicated on the Test Record card. (A test record card is supplied with each product.)

10 1. INSTALLATION: 1. Connect mains supply wiring as follows 2. When all connections have been made reassemble the fitting completely. 3. Switch on 220~240V AC supply and check that the green LED indicator illuminates to confirm charging of batteries. 4. Allow a short period for part charging of the batteries and then isolate the mains supply to the fitting in order to check the correct operation of the fitting in emergency mode. When first used, after a continuous charge for 36 hours, a mains failure should be simulated to ensure that the fitting work for its specified time (only at a safe & appropriate time). The fitting will be fully charged within 24 hours. THE USE OF SWITCH ON THE PCB: In AC input: INDICATOR WORKING PERFORMANCE: Normal fitting: green indicator work ing. Battery failure: red indicator flashing (Flash once ev ery three seconds). Lighting source failure: red indicator flashing (Flash twice ev ery three seconds) Less than the rated duration time: red indicator fast flashing (Flash three times ev ery 3 seconds) ROUTINE TEST RECORD First Year Signed 2. OPERATION / MAINTENANCE: Check LED indicator is illuminated. It is recommended to recharge the product every 3 months to retain battery power even when not in use. 3. The minimum distances around the apparatus should be 100mm in order to ensure sufficient ventilation. 4. This luminaire must not be covered to ensure proper ventilation. 5. All batteries must be disposed of in a responsible manner in accordance with environmental regulations. 6. Not suitable for environments requiring ingress protection in excess of IP If the external flexible cable or cord of this luminaire is damaged, it shall be exclusively replaced by a qualified person to avoid a hazard. 8. Batteries are the Ni-MH type and have a normal service life of approximately 4 years. Batteries must be replaced once the rated duration can no longer be met. 9. The light source contained in this luminaire shall only be replaced by the manufacturer or his service agent or a similar qualified person. 10.
