What remains identical, however, is the all for a profi table, safe and, above all, integrated solution. We offer such solutions based on drive, permanent magnet motor technology and automation technology ranging from inverters to decentralized drive technology and geared motors down to a seamless rang of IEC-motors. Our portfolio comprises three-phase motors, which already fi t most requirements as a standard, as well as tailored special versions. We build motors globally with regional and worldwide standards for all sectors and applications. Moreover, our motors are unrivaled in terms of innovation. Always the right power With an output range from 0.4 to 7.5 kw, ECOiPM motors drive virtually anything. Depending on the individual requirements, we offer high-effi ciency motors for a positive energy balance, sector-or customer-specifi c motors as well as motors in accordance with IEC standards. All motors are equipped with a whole host of features for maximum effi ciency as a standard and offer a convincing cost/performance-ratio. High quality New efficiency classes The previous effi ciency classes (EFF1, EFF2) were the result of a voluntary agreement between the European Commission and CEMEP (European Committee of Manufactures of Electrical Machines and Power Electronics). Standard IEC now defi nes standard effi ciency classes worldwide for 50Hz and 60 Hz motors. Our motors have effi ciency classes IE3 and IE4: IE1 = Standard Efficiency (up until now, in Europe, comparable to EFF2) IE2 = High Efficiency (up until now, in Europe, comparable to EFF1, in the US, comparable to EPAct IE3 = Premium Efficiency (this is new in Europe, in the US, up until now, comparable with NEMA Premium ). 7 ECOiPM versus induction motors Most motor energy losses are mainly dissipated in the form of heat. One of the major differences between a standard AC Induction motor and the ECO ipm motor is the fact that there are no rotor copper (I^2R) losses in the ECOiPM motor, because the rotor is made with magnets, and the only part carrying current is the stator. This means in fact that the copper losses in the EcoiPM motor are about the half of the standard AC Induction motor. As the loss in the rotor is proportional to the current squared ((I^2R) this loss for induction motors can be signifi cant when the motor size power and current increases. The effi ciency of a motor is normally given for rated load, but the effi ciency of the motor is a function of the load, rated power and speed. This is a very important fact when we look at the differences between standard induction motors and Eco ipm motors, since the losses of the Eco IPM motor is practically constant no matter the speed. Lönne and Yaskawa have made measurements on a standard induction motor and an ECOiPM motor from, both supplied from a Yaskawa V1000 inverter, running in open loop vector. The result is shown in fi gure1. and clearly shows that the savings when using a ECOiPM motor is signifi cant compared to an AC induction motor especially at low speeds. 9 Applications Fans. Pumps. Compressors Our ECOiPM motors are suitable for all industrial sectors and applications around the globe, especially with pumps, fans and compressors. Therefore, the drives are only rarely paid much attention however, pumps, fans and compressors are decisive importance for many areas of everyday life. Without these technologies, oil could not be pumped from Siberia to Central Europe and air-conditioning systems would be unthinkable. Fans Fans are also used in the widest range of sectors to convey atmospheric air whether in building technology, for the water & wastewater industries, chemical, pharmaceutical, oil & gas, paper and mining industries. A high energy effi ciency and low-noise operation are the paramount requirements. Special characteristics have to be observed due to the fact that the power increases to the square of the speed. 11 ECOiPM V1000 Inverter ECOiPM V1000 Inverter YASKAWA V1000 is a general purpose inverter drive covering the demands of a wide fi eld of applications.
