14 Mount Hamilton Horticultural Society Mount Hamilton Horticultural Society (MHHS) is a volunteer gardening group based in Hamilton that has served the greater Hamilton area since We have a diverse membership of men and women interested in all things gardening annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables, trees, shrubs and landscapes of all types. Members include both new and experienced gardeners, horticulturalists, and master gardeners as well as urban farmers and vegetable growers. Many of our members have award-winning gardens that have been included in city-wide garden tours and have received the attention and acclaim of our local media. Whether you have been gardening for years, or have just bought your first houseplant, you will find a friendly welcome at the Mount Hamilton Horticultural Society and you will, without a doubt, benefit from the incredible depth of knowledge that this community organization has to offer. Some of our community outreach projects include: sponsoring yearly bursaries to Mohawk College graduates of the Horticulture and Landscape Design programs maintaining the residential landscape of Jason s House, a Canadian March of Dimes home supplying holiday plants to elders in our community through the Meals on Wheels program writing a biweekly horticulture column for the Hamilton Mountain News, a community paper supporting local literacy by supplying Canadian Gardening Magazine subscriptions for ten community libraries hosting monthly meetings that are open to the public and featuring fun and interesting speakers addressing practical topics such as conservation, landscaping, design, plants, trees, vegetable gardening, natural insect control and more presenting flower show competitions that are open for public viewing a yearly spring plant sale For more information, visit:
