11 CMS Air Speed Calibration System Argon-ion laser laser coupler computer signal processor The Old Air Speed Calibration System and Laser Doppler Velocimetry (TSI LDV) Air speed range: 0.5 m/s to 25 m/s (now 0.2 m/s to 25 m/s, up to 60 m/s in plan) Test region: X = 0 mm to 100 mm, r = -40 mm to 40 mm Relative expanded uncertainty (U): 0.50 % (now 0.51 % with u bed = 0.04 %) LDV have been used for more than 17 years, production of laser and fiber optic transmission may be stopped and maintenance is not easy. 18 Bi-lateral comparison with NIST (PVTt) The transfer standard includes two sonic nozzles. SN-170 (d = mm) SN-030 (d = mm) Both lab. use their own instrument for pressure, temperature and time measurements. The fittings for installation of the pressure and temperature sensor are provided by CMS/ITRI. 20 Checking agreement between internal systems NIST CMS/ITRI consistent consistent Tentative conclusion: The results of SN-030 between NIST and CMS/ITRI were in well agreement. The internal test between NIST s 34 L and 677 L system, and between CMS/ITRI s 30 L and 500 L system, were both in agreement, indicating the inconsistency regarding results of SN-170 was coming from the transfer standard rather than the PVTt systems.
