4 Function Solenoid Valves with one Pilot Valve (Fig. 5.1) The pilot valve consists of an i/p binary converter and a pressure reducing valve. The pressure reducer reduces the supply pressure from the attached booster valve or the external connection to 1. bar. In the normal position, the baffle is lifted off the outlet nozzle by spring. As a result, a pressure lower than the switch-off pressure of booster valve, or builds up in the pressure divider that consists of restriction and outlet nozzle. When the solenoid is energized by an electrical binary signal, the outlet nozzle is closed by the baffle against the force of spring. As a result, the pressure in the pressure divider rises above the switch-on pressure of booster valve, or thus switching it over into the operating position. In booster valve the booster valve is employed as preamplifier. The /2 Way and 5/2 Way Solenoid Valves Models /-.. 22/ and /-.. 2 are provided with one or two adjustable exhaust air restrictors permitting adjustment of various closing and opening periods. Solenoid Valves with two Pilot Valves (Fig. 5.2) The pilot valve consists of an i/p binary converter and a pressure reducing valve. The pressure reducer reduces the supply pressure from the booster valve or the external connection to 1. bar. In the normal position, the baffle is lifted off the outlet nozzle by spring. As a result, a pressure lower than the switch-off pressure of booster valve, or builds up in the pressure divider that consists of restriction and outlet nozzle. When the solenoid is energized by an electrical binary signal supplied to i/p binary converter or the outlet nozzle is closed by the baffle against the force of spring. As a result, the pressure in the pressure divider rises above the switch-on pressure of booster valve thus switching it over into the operating position. In the 5/2 way booster valves with two locking positions the position of the spool is retained until a reverse signal is received. When the binary converter is energized, port 1 is connected with port, and port 2 is connected with port, while port 5 is closed. When the i/p binary converter is energized, port 1 is connected with port 2, and port is connected with port 5 while port is closed. When the i/p binary converters connected to the 5/ way booster valve with spring-held mid-position are not energized, ports 2 and are closed, or ports 2 and are connected with port 1, or port 2 is connected with port and port is connected with port 5, depending on the version. Energizing the pilot valves at the same time must be prevented by appropriate electrical controls. 13 Connection Air supply connection Air supply to the valves in the as-delivered condition is to be connected across connection 1,, or. Connection is closed with a screw plug. When instrument air, oil-containing air or nonaggressive gases at 0 to 6 bar (10 bar in Booster Valves Model 756) are used, air must be supplied externally across connection. In Models /-..12/-.. 21/-.. 22/-.. 27/-.. 28/-.. 2/-.. 55/-.. 62/-.. 6 the air supply cannot be changed. The flat gasket, if provided, must be installed in accordance with the as-delivered condition (Fig. 10.). Conversion to external supply across connection is effected as follows: 1. Remove pilot valve enclosure cover after removal of fillister head screws. 2. Remove pilot valve from booster valve after removal of hexagon socket head screws.. Remove plate with flat gasket after removal of a flat head screw (Fig. 10.1).. Turn flat gasket by 0. After assembly the tab of gasket is no longer visible. 5. Prior to assembly install flat gasket between pilot valve and booster valve so that the white mark in the slot is not visible (Fig. 10.)
