6 A2A existing networks overview DH in Brescia covers around 70% of the heat demand; the first part of the system has been in operation since Today this is the largest system in Italy; it is a mix of 2 nd and 3 rd generation distribution technologies. The systems in Milan and in Bergamo use 3 rd generation technology. Very often heating systems in new buildings operate at low temperature: is it time for us to consider 4 th generation DH? 6

7 LTDH: Why? Yes, it s time! We re analyzing LTDH (supply temperature 60 C) LTDH is ready for the (near) future: - RES integration, EU 2020 goals; - local energy primary supply (e.g. heat recovery from industrial processes, etc.) integration; - smart grids integration; - sustainability Legislation evolution in the building sector 7

8 LTDH - A2A approach: ongoing analysis DH development within new high density Low Energy Buildings areas, in the surrounding of Milan What we expect from LTDH: - entire customers satisfaction (first of all) - an overall cost reduction - an increased durability (extended lifetime of the system) 8
