We as a family & farming enterprise are not newcomers to the Simmental breed as 2019 marks our 40th year in this great breed and 75th year in the purebred business. Credit must be given to grandpa Laurent for his vision & tenacity to start out in the purebred world with no previous experience or knowledge but just knowing he wanted to raise the right kind of cattle for his fellow commercial breeders. Having sold thousands of bulls over the course of 75 years is truly a remarkable & rewarding experience & milestone all at the same time. Today, our thought process is really no different as our end goals have remained the same which is to raise the most functional, easy keeping, profitable beef cattle we can for the commercial breeder. Real World Cattle as we like to call them, they are not pampered & run in a very similar fashion as to the way our customers run their own programs. As most of you know we ve invested heavily in our Herdbull battery every year to assure that our customers can access the best genetics possible to in turn create the most profitable return on investment. We like to think that we practice what we preach. We take Herdbull buying very seriously & commit serious money in our Herdsires as it has proven over time to be the fastest way to improve one s herd & the lasting impact is huge. The 60 heifers on offer are of very strong quality. They are the same as what goes in our replacement pen...we just can t keep them all! All sale cattle are developed on a high roughage TMR designed by Eric Van Meijl of Masterfeeds to ensure proper growth & longevity in your newly purchased animal. Delivery Terms: Option A: Bull(s) will be delivered free of charge within 350 kms or to the nearest Canada/US border crossing. We will do our best to get them to your yard, however, at times, it may be required to meet at central locations. Delivery will be as soon as possible after the sale at the buyer s risk and the seller s convenience. Buyers must insure their bull(s) while being cared for at Rendezvous Farms. Heifers to be picked up on sale day, unless other arrangements have been made. We can assist the purchaser on coordinating transportation. Option B: Bulls & Heifers can be picked up in Ste. Rose on sale day or at the farm after the sale. Option C: Bulls can be kept at Rendezvous Farms free of charge until March 25. A charge of $5.00 per day will apply after that date. 4 Guarantee: Bulls selling at the sale will have passed all essential tests and examinations. Every bull selling will be accompanied by a valid Breeding Soundness Evaluation Report, signed and stamped by a veterinarian of the Western Canadian Association of Bovine Practitioners. Herd Health and Fertility: All sale cattle have been treated twice with Ivomec are on the Pfizer Gold Program: Bovi-Shield Gold 5, One Shot & Ultrabac7/Somubac. InForce was also given as calves. All sale cattle were vaccinated for foot rot with Fusogard. All bulls will be examined, scrotal measured, semen tested & palpated by a licensed veterinarian prior to the sale. No internet bidding In our opinion, there are just too many variables out of our control that could cause online bidders to miss the opportunity of owning their chosen animals. Rendezvous Farms won t let that happen to you at our sale. Call in advance a Transcon Livestock or T Bar C representative or David Maguet and let them be your responsible agents to bid and buy on your behalf. David This option will give you the best chance of winning at our auction should you not be able to attend. U.S. Buyers: The U.S. Exchange rate will be announced prior to the sale. Sales Management Comments This event is always a fantastic way for us to launch into the province s bull sale season, especially being hosted in the Cattle Capital of Manitoba! This larger than average production sale features a cross section of sire groups owned by Rendezvous Farms and represents both sexes from the same respective calendar year of 2018! Multiple purchases are a very legitimate possibility, male and/or female, which has been a norm to past sales. It is well known that the ownership of Rendezvous Farms takes the responsibility of their own herdbull shopping as seriously as anyone in the business. This has shown over the years and the high quality fraternities of brothers that are constantly offered in this sale give the public many buying options. As well, the diversity offered from this large breeding program only adds to more selection and opportunity. Not many other places can offer you so many multiple brothers to enhance consistency or take advantage of matching, or in essence almost like a cross-breeding scenario, mixing Fullblood with Red with Black Simmental genetics and reap the hybrid vigor rewards. A generous supply of calving ease designed bulls are also always available. To summarize, the potential to accentuate your breeding program, and more importantly, your bottom-line, is offered in many ways and most likely for multiple purchases! Not to cut the vast cowherd short, it is most certainly a bonus to know that your new Rendezvous bull(s) is/are mothered by this cowherd that has been in the making for decades! With that last sentence, this leads us nicely into the female section of the sale. The largest group ever offered in the Rendezvous production sale will be sold this year! In that, more heifers offered means more quality too! I think you will be impressed as you flip through this catalog and start into the female pages. There is only one time per year that papered Rendezvous Farms females are sold publicly and it s always on Holiday Monday in February! This is a fourth generational agricultural family that makes their sole livelihood from the mixed farm. Not only are they farmers, but very astute business people who don t shy away from long hours and family sacrifice. We re quite excited with Red Express! He was the lead off bull at Herdmasters Doug Zimmer had nothing but praise for his mother, especially since Red Express was her first calf. Express was truly one of the thickest, deepest bodied bulls we saw in the spring of This stout made bull is an impressive individual, one of the only yearling bulls we ve used that never lost any condition during breeding season. His super dark red color is something he passes on to his progeny as well. The combination of length, thickness & middle to this herd sire is something that blends nicely. His calves are born small & easy, they then keep growing & performing well. We believe Red Express will have a bright future here at RF. Look over his sons & daughters, you will like them too! Red Knight was earmarked for that purpose when we purchased him in Mothered by a black Powerline first calf daughter, Terry & Debbie Skoretz felt he would calve well & also give the kind of performance we were looking for from our heifers. Not one single calf of his was assisted at birth & man do they look good a year later. Red Knight travels like a hovercraft, smooth & steady. His muscle expression is impressive & he is developing into a well-balanced, smooth made herdsire. One of the most sought after red bulls to sell in the spring of When we saw Mandako with our own eyes, we just knew we had to own him. The depth of body, natural thickness, amazing hair coat & quarters that came down deep made him the ideal red bull we needed to add to our herdsire roster. Mandako turned out to be the high selling red of the day commanding $40,000 but he was worth every penny. Sired by the elite Godfather bull & mothered by a tremendous female that Doug Zimmer raved about, the pedigree in Mandako is bullet proof. The quest for a heifer bull can be a challenging one at times, never being 100% certain until the calves are born. However, with Red Rambo, you could bet the farm on him, he is a heifer bull!! And a damn good one too! We really took a liking to this bull when we toured the Fornwald pen on a cold -35 morning out in Lampman, SK. Rambo is a paternal brother to the ever popular KWA FLYF Red Mountain bull going back to some solid IPU breeding on the top & bottom sides. Rambo has been a stellar heifer bull, calving like a dream. His sons are essentially carbon copies of their father, they are smooth made, have small heads, clean front ends & excellent confirmation. When you see his sons you ll like them too. Western Star was our pick of their black bulls in 2015 & was their 2nd high seller. I couldn t get over the length of this bull. He was a foot longer than any other bull around and weighed 1620 at 14 months. This goes back to the old adage: Length = pounds. When his calves were being born, Gerry felt they were the nicest, most uniform calves he would process at 2 days of age. They were sooo long & correct. The new red bull who s caused quite a stir here. Alaska has been a fan favourite from everyone who s toured the herdbull group. This soggy, hairy meat machine is always in good shape & poses perfectly every time he stops. With a temperament that s second to none & the most perfect feet you will find, Alaska just seems to bring it all together. A very masculine, yet moderate made bull. He calves like a dream but once those calves hit the ground they just keep growing. Alaska is producing the real curve bender kind of cattle we all seek in this day of age. We honestly can t say enough good things about him. Lee, Tina & Hanna Robson toured us around their farm & made sure to show us the dam of this great bull. After only a few minutes of viewing both mother & son, my wife Rachelle & I knew that we had to own Charles, there was no other alternative. We also knew there would be some very strong competition in doing so. When the dust settled, we managed to purchase him outright for a ground breaking $75,000! We felt we needed to add this powerful, perfectly made, genetically unique individual to our herdbull roster for our customers as we know too well that trying to find that ideal individual in the Fullblood business is a very, very tough job. In all honesty, I ve never been so excited about a bull as the day we saw Charles & that feeling has continued every single day. His first calf crop was embraced by both Purebred and Commercial breeders with his sons averaging $10,616. The best thing we ve ever done was use Charles in our program. We truly believe the best thing you can do is to use his sons. The high selling red bull from the well-respected Kuntz herd is also a maternal brother to the ever-popular calving ease Sheriff bull. We feel Patriot encompasses the similar calving ease traits of his well known brother but also adds a lot of length & growth to his calves all the while maintaining that moderate frame score with Pictured at 3 years of age, October good thickness. Patriot is a prime example of purchasing a good bull even though we were bulled up at the time. We really liked the structure of him as a yearling & when Dad (Richard) & I saw the cow family when touring the Kuntz herd we both felt we should add this bull to the battery on those merits as that kind of bull doesn t come around every year. We re quite enthused about these Patriot sons selling, they are very uniform in type and most of them were raised by only second calvers. 7

We managed to talk Curtis into selling a share back into Hemi 586C as we really wanted to keep the Hemi bloodline alive in our program as we lost his sire at only three years of age. We used Hemi only for our first cycle on select cows & the calves that were born really blew our expectations out of the water. Hemi 586C is a performance powerhouse for the Fullblood business, he puts that extra punch in his progeny & it shows quite easily when strolling through the bull & heifer pens. This will be the last Hemi progeny to sell since he did not recover from an injury. REF. His beautiful rich color along with great length of body & smooth shoulders made him hard to pass up. What sealed the deal was viewing his dam, NUG Lace 830U. What an impressive mother cow, she s the ideal type we strive to produce. With a lot of maternal power on the bottom pedigree with bulls like Harrach & Medallion, we felt Clipper would be a stellar addition to our herd. Clipper has a very docile disposition & calves very easily, also proving that he can produce both top bulls & females with his progeny being some of our sale features in both classes. REF.
