2 A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear Member: Just 2 weeks until our Spring Show N Shine! Pre-registrations are coming in. Many of you have entered. Some of us have already ordered the show T-shirts. Orders can still be taken at the May meeting, but you need to bring the money. Cathy McNiven also requests that any raffle items to be donated for the Spring Show be brought to this meeting. We ll need some commitments to help with the show. Please come prepared to volunteer. Fifteen of us drove to Prosser on April 16 th for lunch at Whitstran Brewing and a tour of the new tasting room at Pontin del Roza Winery. We all thank Nan Kuchen for reserving some room for us to sit together at Whistran. The new tasting room at Pontin del Roza is much larger than the earlier room and very nice. If you didn t attend, plan to stop by on your own to see the new tasting room. See why a full-size tour bus, a smaller bus, and several other individuals were there on their own that afternoon. Several of you went to the Spring Opener Car and Bike Show in Benton City on the 30 th, and the Kennewick Classy Chassis on the 7 th of May. We ve also been invited to participate again in the Waitsburg Parade on May 21 st ; I ll bring details to this month s meeting. I had the very good fortune to be taken to the Petersen Auto Museum in Los Angeles by my aunt on April 30 th. They have some fabulous cars, but they specialize in the exotic roadsters and sports cars. A cousin photographed me sitting in a Mustang funny car simulator. The same cousin then drove us down part of Sunset Boulevard so we could go through Dead Man s Curve. We have some previously tabled items to discuss at the May 17th meeting. Items planned for the agenda include arrival of name tags, Spring Show planning progress and T-shirt orders, the Waitsburg Parade, and a discussion of the trip to Pontin del Roza Winery. We re sure to have some new items to discuss. Help us make the decisions with your presence and opinions. See you there! Submitted by President Jim Compton FOR SALE Jasper 289. 3 MEETING MINUTES April 19, 2011 President Jim Compton called the PNWMC meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Members introduced themselves and their cars. We had new members Tim and Tracy Hawkins and son Blake attending the meeting. Minutes from the March 15, 2011 meeting were approved by the membership. OLD BUSINESS SPRING SHOW PLANNING Chris Wollam gave us an update. Show flyers went out in the mail on April 19 th. The T-shirt design is set and trophies and dash plaques are being completed. Need raffle items and trophy class sponsors. The next planning meeting will be Monday April 25 th at 6:30 p.m. NAME TAGS - Are $6.00 each and we would like to order and have them for the spring show. PONTIN DEL ROZA WINERY TOUR- Was held on April 23 rd and attended by 15 club members. The winery has updated their tasting room for additional space and ambiance. Even so, the show had cars and motorcycles lined up along both sides of Kennewick Avenue for over 3 blocks. A lot of the vehicles were really nice. Five PNWMC cars entered. Ervin and Connie Bader entered their white 55 Ford Victoria and their turquoise 56 Thunderbird. Vernon Richardson entered his blue 66 modified Mustang. Nolan and Maureen Woodard entered their white 07 Mustang GT that s still gaining some personalization. Jim Compton entered his maroon 69 Cougar convertible. Ben Rasch and Charlie McNiven came down to look and talk, but did not enter cars. The weather on Show Day was pretty nice, but it was also a bit windy. Most convertible tops were lowered by early afternoon and the sun felt good if you were out touring in the street. The show had a hot dog vendor and Kettle Corn, but there were also several restaurants within a short walk. I left this show early, so I have not heard if any of us won a trophy. The cars were divided mostly into classes based on decades, but the most popular decades were also split between Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler. Plan to attend this show next year, if you can. The location is very convenient and you ll get to see a lot of good cars, not to mention a few former PNWMC members who also attended.
