1 The San Diego Corvair Club Monthly Newsletter August 2013 CORSA Chapter 921 Vol. 39, No. 8 No News Is Good News? Not when you re putting out a newsletter. Actually, July did have a few things happening. I just wasn t involved in many of them. I missed the Corvair night at Escondido s Cruisin Grand on the fifth of July. Family in for the holiday. Jon Peters and family did get out there. Haven t heard that any one else did. And I missed the CORSA Convention, Though Ron Durie, Larry & Lorrie Tustison did make it. Next year s Tacoma venue certainly looks good, since I have family up on the Olympic peninsula. But I did get out to Valley Center to view a nonmember s Corvair plus other car stuff with Jim Stansbury. Health issues force this liquidation. Corvair wise, he has a 65 Corsa coupe with several engines and a sundry of parts. He also has a 140 sand rail with trailer (separate item from the coupe and parts). Right now his prices are pretty firm, and those of us who have seen the Corvair stuff, a little steep. The Corvair and parts are a take all deal, he doesn t want to part anything out. The non-vair stuff is interesting (a 1947 Plymouth 4door sedan, an M37 with trailer, a 73 Vette and his motor home), but not what the club would push. I do have some pictures of the Corvair and spare engines, if anyone is interested ~ they ll be at the meeting or me. This same day, Mike Evans and Paul Kehler visited Lois Huffman in regards to Bob s Corvair and other car collection. Paul made arrangements to handle the cars and parts for her. Go to Corvaircenter.com forum, search on Kehler ~ select dates in the past week (week of July 22) to view some of the cars. They are pretty interesting ~ as is Bob s storage facility. Much upgraded since I saw him last some five years ago. I understand some of the stuff is moving already, like the Rampside (maybe). Something that raised a question for me. Looking at Paul s pictures, the 66 4-door is said to be a 140PG, the dash is Monza. Was this Chevy s dash for the PG version of the 140, or is the 140 a later installation? Hopefully, Paul will have some pictures of the collection at the August 8 meeting for those who don t do online computers. 3 General Meeting Minutes for July 10, 2013 Meeting called to order at 7:10 pm by President Mike Evans. Red has pictures if anyone is interested. Mike Evans talked to Lois Huffman about Bob s cars, now at their farm. He will drive out to Valley Center to get more information. Also in Valley Center, Red Badgett and Jim Stansbury drove out to look at a gentleman s Corvair parts, includes 65 Corsa coupe with a 110 while 140 was being overhauled, along with several other engines and shed load of parts. Also has a 140 sand buggy with trailer. Asking $4,000 for coupe and parts: $4,000 for buggy and trailer. Has a few other items he didn t set prices on; a 1947 Plymouth sedan, an M-37 with military trailer and a Fleetwood motor home, gas powered. Illness forces sell.
