19 WARNING! SHIPPING BLOCKS & MOUNTING ATTENTION The 4 x 4 wood blocks that are attached to the bottom of the gussets, on any spreader unit, are for SHIPPING PURPOSES ONLY! DO NOT install spreader, onto any vehicle or implement, using these wood blocks as base supports. The spreaders are designed to have equal weight distribution on ALL gussets, at the same time, on an even and flat surface. If off the floor mounting is required or desired, please use the diagram below for wood installation. END VIEW SIDE VIEW Longnitudal runners are optional. USE ONLY, pressue treated 2x6, cut to length of dimensions shown for your application. Fasten using 3/8" lag bolts 1 1/2" long. Pre drill a 1/4" pilot hole to avoid cracking of wood. 20 WARNING! WIRELESS CONTROL BOX NOTICE ATTENTION The DownEaster wireless control box is NOT designed or intended to send or receive power from any other auxiliary device or supply. DO NOT splice, cut, modify or change fuse size in the wireless control harness. DO NOT power any type of auxiliary lighting with control box, harness or the battery for starting the spreader. The alternators on the spreader drive engines are not designed to power any auxiliary amperage. DO NOT use self grounding, or ground any auxiliary lights or electrical devices directly to the spreader hopper or motor platform. Any back feed or amperage spikes from other devices may cause the control box to overheat, and / or not function properly due to damaged internal relays. Any lighting or other electrical implement MUST be powered by the host vehicle's electrical system and MUST be grounded to the vehicle as well. Failure to do so WILL result in control box damage. 22 NOTICE! 2015 ELECTRIC 3/4 HP DRIVES NOTICE As of, the 2015 Spreader year, all DownEaster 3/4 HP Electric drive models will now have a 28% gear reduction from previous model years. Due to the various materials used by consumers and strain on dual electric drive spinner motors with the extra yardage capacity, reducing the gear will lesson amperage strain on the drive motor and allow the spinner motor to operate more effectively. Single drive models will also feature the reduced gearing. If current customers have any issues with amperage draw or spinner motor not keeping up, with material flow of conveyor, a change over kit consisting of a new 26 tooth input sprocket, for the gear reducer, and 63 pitch roller chain, will be issued at a reduced cost to dealers. Press and hold button in upper left side of box until light goes out. Press same button for 1 sec., light will begin to blink. Push STAR T button on remote for 1 sec., then push button in upper left of wireless box to lock remote to the box. Using a voltmeter, test the yellow wire to the solenoid for power while holding the START button Test black wire for ground, while holding STOP button. Using a voltmeter, test the red & brown wires for ground, then push THROTTLE UP button and test brown wire for pos (+), then push THROTTLE DOWN button and test red wire for pos (+) Using a voltmeter, test the wire wires pos (+), while holding the CLUTCH button. Make sure no other electrical components, such as work lights, or strobes, are spliced into this circuit. This will cause box to overheat under the additional amperage. 59

123 TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE, DOWNEASTER SPREADERS VARIABLE SPEED CONTROLLER & ELECTRIC CONVEYOR SERIES ATTENTION: The Omega 1030 controller is designed to operate single stage salt spreaders with positive and negative wires from the controller, to the spreader motor. This controller features "Jackhammer" start-up, to make sure the spreader starts, in the case of a jam or frozen material. This cycle is 5 seconds and is normal, every cycle, operation along with "Guardian" current management, to protect your vehicle from dangerous current spikes. The "Blast" feature will send full voltage (top speed) to spinner for _ seconds. 132 a. b. c. a. b. c. d. Replacement In-line Fuse Size: 20 Amps. VIBRATOR MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS NOTICE: VIBRATION IS A DESTRUCTIVE FORCE AND MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO SOME APPLICATIONS. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. VIBRATOR: Locate the vibrator in the desired location in the application. Mark the mounting holes (bolt pattern is 4 x 2 ) with the electrical cord pointing down or toward the rear of the vehicle and drill four 3/8 holes in the application. Inside the application: Align the Vibrator Backing Plate with the 3/8 drilled holes and put the 3/8 x 1-1/2 bolts through the plate the application and the vibrator. Outside the application: Use the nuts provided to secure the vibrator in place. ELECTRICAL: Disconnect vehicle electrical system from the battery. Take harness assembly with molded connector and route wires from the vibrator installation point to the front of the vehicle. Route wires along the frame and secure from the rear using TY-WRAPS. CAUTION: Do not route close to exhaust system or engine. Temperatures over 105C will melt the wire insulation. This will cause damage to the Sure-Flow Z-200 Vibrator Kit and the vehicle electrical system. Black lead will go to ground on the vehicle battery and the red lead will go into the vehicle cab to connect to the switch. DO NOT CONNECT TO THE BATTERY YET. Layout the harness portion that goes to the battery along the fire wall and fender well. NOTE: Dual battery systems always connect to the primary battery. Do not connect power lead to battery yet. Drill a 17/32 hole in the fire wall for the switch portion of the harness. Install the rubber grommet provided in the hole and route red wire through the hole. Use the rubber grommet to reduce the risk of wire chafing that can cause short circuits. Connect the battery side power lead to the in-line fuse with a blue butt connector provided then connect the in-line fuse to any switch terminal using a blue receptacle connector. Attach the power lead that goes to the vibrator to the other switch terminal using the blue receptacle connector. Mount the switch in a suitable location inside the cab with the switch mounting bracket provided. Connect power leads to battery: Red positive (+), Black negative (-) Secure loose loom.
