3 KIA Genuine Accessories (General Procedures) -ap Installation Procedure Factory wire harness colors are subject to change, please use the specified pin # in the harness connector to identify the correct wire for -ap installation. Spade erminal Pointed UP Spade erminal Pointed DW. Place -ap on vehicle wire. ICRRC 2. Using pliers, close and crimp -ap around vehicle wire. CRRC Spade erminal CRD Inside Connector ICRRC 3. Insert harness wire with male spade terminal end into the -ap. **xtreme care must be taken to ensure that the male spade terminal is inserted into the -ap properly. G D GD Disconnecting Connectors When disconnecting connectors, grasp the connectors, not the wires. Locking Connectors When locking connectors, listen for a click indicating they are securely locked. Wire Colors When a two-color wire is listed, the first color indicates the base color of the wire, the second color indicates the color of the stripe. For example: Black/White Black (Base Color) White (Stripe Color) Striped Wire Solid Wire Black erminal nd View Harness nd View Connector Diagrams Connector diagrams may be shown on the harness side or the terminal side, extreme care must be taken to verify proper terminal location before a -ap connection is made. 4 KIA Genuine Accessories (Vehicle Disassembly) Vehicle Preperation *Clean hands. *Set the parking brake and open driver s door window. *Record radio station presets. *Vehicle must be at room temperature. *nsure vehicle is equipped with automatic transmission, power door locks and power windows. If the vehicle is not equipped with these options, do not proceed. nsure vehicle does have SMAR KY. *SUR H IL/LSCPIC SRIG WHL CLUM IS FULLY XDD AD LCKD BFR ISALLIG HIS ACCSSRY. 0 Fuse Box WARIG: / AVRISSM his vehicle is equipped with a remote controlled engine starter. o reduce the risk of serious Injury or death, switch engine starter system into service mode and disconnect the vehicle battery before performing any service on the vehicle. Warning Label Pressure Clips! egative Battery Cable /4 Drive Rachet, 0mm Socket *Remove and isolate the negative battery cable from the battery. *Using alcohol, clean the top surface of the underhood fuse box. nsure the surface is completely dry. *Remove the backing on the underhood label and mount in place. WARIG! Shock Hazard. Do not touch vehicle s negative battery terminal to vehicle s positive battery terminal. Serious physical injury or vehicle damage may occur. rim ool *Remove the driver s side front door step sill trim by inserting the trim removal tool under the trim panel and prying upward to release the (4) pressure clips. 2 Hood Release Lever Plastic ut Push Clip rim ool Pressure Clips *Carefully pull the weatherstrip away from the side of the driver s side kick panel. *Remove the hood release lever by pulling toward the center of the vehicle. *Remove the plastic nut located near the vehicle dashwall, if equipped. *Remove the driver s side kick panel from the vehicle by pulling upward to release the push clip and prying toward the center of the vehicle to disengage the (2) pressure clips. 3 Pressure Clips rim ool *Remove the driver s side dash end cap panel by prying outward to disengage the (4) pressure clips. 4 Page 4 of 22

5 KIA Genuine Accessories (Vehicle Disassembly) Pressure Clips Phillips Screws Phillips Screwdriver *Remove the (2) phillips screws from the side of the lower dash finish panel. 5 rim ool, Phillips Screwdriver Phillips Screws *Remove the lower dash finish panel by removing the (2) phillips screws from the bottom of the panel. Using a trim removal tool, carefully pry outward to release the (5) pressure clips. *Remove the BDII connector from the panel. *Disconnect the remaining connectors, if equipped. 6 0 mm Bolts Phillips Screws 0 mm ut Phillips Screw /4 Drive Rachet, 0mm Socket *Remove the (5) 0 mm bolts and () 0 mm nut securing the steel knee bolster panel. *Remove the steel knee bolster panel from the vehicle. 7 rim ool, Phillips Screwdriver *Remove the (3) phillips screws securing the steering column shroud ( underneath and 2 behind the steering wheel). urn the steering wheel for access. *Pull down to separate (Use trim tool, if necessary) and remove the lower steering column shroud from the vehicle. 8 Page 5 of 22

6 KIA Genuine Accessories (Vehicle Disassembly) Pressure Clips Access Cover and Phillips Screw rim ool 0 rim ool, Phillips Screwdriver *Carefully pull the weatherstrip away from the driver s side A pillar. *Remove the access cover and the single phillips screw from the A pillar. 9 *Starting at the top, use a trim tool and remove the driver s side A pillar trim panel by inserting the tool behind the panel and prying outward to release the (2) pressure clips. CAUI! Do not lose the (2) plastic clips. KIA Genuine Accessories ) Alcohol / Cleaner *Clean the area of the windshield where the antenna will be mounted with an alcohol-based glass cleaning solution. nsure the glass surface is completely dry. *Mount the dipole antenna to the windshield approximately 0.5 below the mirrors lowest attachment point and/or any windshield electronic gridwork. Remove protective backing. Press firmly to ensure a good glass to adhesive bond. Page 6 of 22

7 KIA Genuine Accessories ) 9" 9" 0" rim ool, Wire Cutter *Wrap the antenna cable with (3) pieces of supplied foam tape to ensure that the antenna will stay in place after routing, as shown above. *Route the antenna cable vertically on the right hand side of the mirror up to the headliner. uck the cable behind the headliner and down the A pillar. Use (3) small wire ties to secure the antenna cable to the factory harness located within the A pillar. rim off excess wire ties. 2! WARIG! Air Bag system interference hazard. D secure antenna cable to the Air Bag components. Damage to the vehicle s Air Bag system may occur which could result in serious physical injury. CAUI! If the vehicle is equipped with a sunroof, be careful not to place the wire ties around the drain tube or the sunroof may not drain properly. Antenna 6-Pin 24-Pin 0-Pin *Route the antenna cable past the left side of the dashboard and over to the fuse panel area. *Plug the wire harness and the antenna cable into the remote start module before mounting. *nsure all connectors are properly locked into position. 3 CAUI! Be careful not to bend/damage any of the terminals inside the remote start module. Page 7 of 22

8 KIA Genuine Accessories ) Fuse Box Hex Bolt & ut (Hidden From View) Steering Column ilt Release Lever Wire ie * orque Hex ut to 52 inch pounds /4 Drive Rachet, 3/8 Socket, orque Wrench, Wire Cutter 4 *Secure the upper right side tab of the remote start module to the top hole in the factory brace supporting the fuse box with the supplied hex bolt and hex nut. Secure the left side of the remote start module to the factory wire harnesses with () large wire tie. orque the hex nut to 52 inch pounds and trim off excess wire tie. *Secure excess antenna cable with small wire ties, as needed. rim off excess wire ties. CAUI! orque hex nut to specification. Do not over-tighten or damage to mounting tab will occur. 6-Pin Connectors Remote Start Ignition Connectors *Route the remote start harness 6-pin male and female ignition connectors upward to the ignition switch. *Disconnect the factory male 6-pin M5 ignition connector and plug in the cooresponding remote start harness connectors. WARIG! ngine Stall Hazard. o prevent stress on the remote start wire harness, ensure the tilt/ telescopic steering column is fully extended, if equipped. nsure all connectors are fully engaged and locked in place. An engine stall could cause serious physical injury or vehicle damage.! Wire ie *nsure conector is fully engaged and locked into the ignition switch. 5 4-Pin Connectors Steering Column Wire ie Wire Cutter *Route the remote start harness 6-pin male and female keyin-sense connectors along the factory harness toward the factory 6-pin connector, located to the right of the steering column. *Disconnect the factory male 6-pin M37 connector and plug in the cooresponding remote start harness connectors. *Secure the factory male connector and the remote start harness female connector to the factory connector with () small wire tie. rim off excess wire tie. 6 Wire Cutter *Route the remote start harness 4-pin male and female brake switch connectors under the steering column to the brake switch. *Disconnect the factory male 4-pin CHG 39 connector and plug in the cooresponding remote start harness connectors. *Secure the factory male connector and the remote start harness female connector to the remote start harness with () small wire tie. rim off excess wire tie. 7 Page 8 of 22

9 KIA Genuine Accessories ) ** Unplug connector, if necessary, to identify proper pin location RMIAL D VIW** * * * I/P-F Connector Red/Black Wire Pin 6 Pliers *Route the 26-pin male and female connectors, Red/Black and Gray wires toward the fuse box. *Locate the Red/Black wire in pin #6 of the 20-pin I/P-F male connector. *Using pliers, crimp a -ap on the Red/Black wire located in pin #6 of the I/P-F male connector. *Connect the Red/Black (Hood Ajar Input) wire from the remote start harness to the Red/Black wire (Pin #6 of the I/P-F connector) by engaging the -ap. Refer to Page 3 for -ap Installation Procedure. CAUI! nsure the correct pin location is identified. here may be several wires of the same/similar color. 8 ** Unplug connector, if necessary, to identify proper pin location RMIAL D VIW** * * * I/P-F Connector Gray Wire Pin 7 Pliers *Locate the Gray wire in pin #7 of the 20-pin I/P-F male connector. *Using pliers, crimp a -ap on the Gray wire located in pin #7 of the I/P-F male connector. *Connect the Gray (Rear Defroster utput) wire from the remote start harness to the Gray wire (Pin #7 of the I/P-F connector) by engaging the -ap. Refer to Page 3 for - ap Installation Procedure. CAUI! nsure the correct pin location is identified. here may be several wires of the same/similar color. 9 Page 9 of 22

10 KIA Genuine Accessories ) ** Unplug connector, if necessary, to identify proper pin location RMIAL D VIW** 26 Pliers I/P- Connector Green/range Wire Pin 26 0 *Locate the Green/range wire in pin #26 of the 26-pin I/P- male connector. *Using pliers, crimp a -ap on the Green/range wire located in pin #26 of the I/P- male connector. *Connect the Green/range (achometer Input) wire from the remote start harness to the Green/range wire (Pin #26 of the I/P- connector) by engaging the -ap. Refer to Page 3 for -ap Installation Procedure. CAUI! nsure the correct pin location is identified. here may be several wires of the same/similar color. Fuse Box 26-Pin Connectors *Disconnect the factory male 26-pin BCM-FK connector at the fuse box and plug in the cooresponding remote start harness connectors. Page 0 of 22

Blue Wire Pin 2 Back of Fuse Box Pliers, /4 Drive Rachet, 0 mm Socket *Route the portion of the remote start harness containing the Yellow/Black wire, Lt. Blue wire and the 22-pin male and female connectors along the right side of the fuse box to the BCM (Located on the back side of the fuse box). *Installation ip - Remove the (2) 0 mm bolts and the () 0 mm nut securing the fuse box and tilt it forward for better access to the BCM connectors. *Disengage the 26-pin BCM-ML connector from the back side of the BCM. *Locate the Lt. Blue wire in pin #2 of the 26-pin BCM-ML male connector. *Using pliers, crimp a -ap on the Lt. Blue wire located in pin #2 of the BCM-ML male connector. *Connect the Lt. Blue (Parking Light utput) wire from the remote start harness to the Lt. Blue wire (Pin #2 of the BCM-ML connector) by engaging the -ap. Refer to Page 3 for -ap Installation Procedure. CAUI! nsure the correct pin location is identified. here may be several wires of the same/similar color. 2 ** Unplug connector, if necessary, to identify proper pin location RMIAL D VIW** Pliers *Disengage the 6-pin BCM-MM connector from the backside of the BCM. *Locate the Yellow/Black wire in pin #2 of the 6-pin BCM-MM male connector. *Using pliers, crimp a -ap on the Yellow/Black wire located in pin #2 of the BCM-MM male connector. *Connect the Yellow/Black (Driver Door Unlock utput) wire from the remote start harness to the Yellow/Black wire (Pin #2 of the BCM-MM connector) by engaging the -ap. 12 KIA Genuine Accessories ) 22-Pin BCM-M Connector Wire ie Wire Cutter 4 *Disconnect the factory male 22-pin BCM-M connector at the BCM and plug in the cooresponding remote start harness connectors. *Secure the Lt. Blue (Parking Light utput) wire, Yellow/Black (Driver Door Unlock utput) wire and the 22-pin male and female BCM-M remote start harness connectors to the remote start wire harness with () small wire tie. rim off excess wire tie. Ground Location /4 Drive Rachet, 0 mm Socket *Locate the 0 mm ground bolt in the left kick panel area. *Route the Black wire with ring terminal down along the factory wire harness to the factory ground location. *Remove the 0 mm bolt. Position the black wire with ring terminal over the bolt and reinstall with factory ground wires. 5 Page 2 of 22

13 KIA Genuine Accessories ) Wire ie (Secure Remote Start Harness to Factory Harness) Wire ie Disarm/Programming Button Wire Cutter Wire ies (Secured to the Remote Start Harness nly) *Connect the disarm / programming button to the corresponding remote start module connector (if disconnected). *Secure the disarm / programming button to the remote start harness with (3) small wire ties. rim off excess wire ties. *nsure disarm / programming button is secured to the remote start harness in a manner that allows for future serviceability. *Secure the remote start harness to the existing factory harness with () large wire tie. rim off excess wire tie. 6 Wire ie Wire ies Wire ies! Wire Cutter 7 *Secure the remote start harness with (3) large wire ties. rim off excess wire ties. WARIG! ngine Stall Hazard. o prevent stress on the remote start wire harness, ensure the tilt/ telescopic steering column is fully extended, if equipped. nsure all connectors are fully engaged and locked in place. An engine stall could cause serious physical injury or vehicle damage. Wire Cutter 8 *Secure the Black ground wire to the existing factory harness with (2) small wire ties. rim off excess wire ties. If the horn begins sounding, press the disarm / programming button with the ignition to disarm the system. *Start the vehicle with the key and verify that no Diagnostic rouble Codes have been triggered. Any DCs should be reset before proceeding to the next step. *urn the ignition key to the FF/LCK position. WARIG! Shock Hazard. Do not touch vehicle s negative battery terminal to vehicle s positive battery terminal. Serious physical injury or vehicle damage may occur. 9 Page 4 of 22

15 KIA Genuine Accessories (Function Check) Items o Be Checked Remote ngine Start - Make sure the key is removed from the ignition switch and the engine hood and rear hatch are closed. Activate the remote start by pressing lock followed by start within 3 seconds. Brake Pedal Safety - Press unlock and enter the vehicle. Press the brake pedal. Key-In-Sense - Insert the ignition key into the ignition switch but keep it in the FF position. Activate the remote engine start using the transmitter. Hood Safety Switch - Remove the key from the ignition and activate the remote engine start. After the vehicle has started, press the unlock button on the transmitter to disarm the security system and pull the hood release lever to release the hood. pen the door and exit the vehicle. Door Lock - Close the engine hood and all doors and press the lock button on the transmitter. Door Lock - Press the lock button on the transmitter a second time within 5 seconds. Door Unlock - Press the unlock button on the transmitter. Door Unlock - Press the unlock button on the transmitter a second time within 5 seconds of unlocking the driver s door. Rear Defrost - Activate the remote engine start. Press the remote start button on the transmitter a second time after the vehicle has started. Alarm rigger - Press the lock button on the transmitter. Manually unlock any door and enter the vehicle. Repeat this procedure twice, manually opening the hood and then the trunk. Interior Lamp - Press the unlock button on the transmitter to disarm the alarm system. Car Find Feature - Press the find/panic button on the transmitter. Repeat this process twice. Results f he Check he parking lights will flash one time, the horn will beep once, then the vehicle will crank and start. nce started, the parking lights will come on and stay on signifying the engine is running. he engine/remote start will turn off. he parking lights will flash once and the ignition will turn on as if it is going to start. But, the horn will beep twice and the remote engine start will not attempt to start the vehicle since it detects the key in the ignition. In addition, the driver s door will unlock and the vehicle s interior light will illuminate. he engine/remote start will turn off immediately. he hood should not have to be lifted to activate the hood safety switch. he parking lights will flash one time to indicate that the vehicle is armed and locked. he parking lights will flash one time and the horn will beep one time giving audible confirmation that the vehicle is locked and armed. he parking lights will flash two times to indicate that the vehicle is disarmed and unlock the driver s door only. he parking lights will flash two times to indicate that the vehicle is disarmed and unlock all remaining doors. he parking lights will flash one time. Locate the rear defroster switch and verify that the indictator portion of the switch is illuminated. he engine/remote start will turn off, the parking lights will start flashing and the horn will start beeping for up to 30 seconds. he vehicle s interior light should stay illuminated for minute or until the vehicle ignition has been turned on or the vehicle has been re-armed/locked. he parking lights will flash and the horn will beep 5 times. Subsequent presses within 5 seconds of the first press will beep the horn slightly louder. Page 5 of 22

16 KIA Genuine Accessories (Function Check) Items o Be Checked Results f he Check Panic Feature - Press and hold the find/panic button on the transmitter for 3 seconds to activate. Press the find/ panic button a second time to deactivate. Quick Stop Feature - Start the vehicle with the ignition key. With the vehicle in park and foot off the brake pedal, press the remote start button on the transmitter. Remove the key from the ignition. he parking lights will flash and the horn will beep randomly for up to 30 seconds. Verify that the parking lights turn on and that the vehicle remains running. he driver s door will unlock (if previously locked). Page 6 of 22

17 KIA Genuine Accessories (Vehicle Reassembly) Pressure Clips Phillips Screw and Access Cover Phillips Screwdriver 2 *Reinstall the driver s side A pillar trim by engaging the (2) pressure clips. *Reinstall the single phillips screw and the access cover. *Reinstall the weatherstrip near the driver s side A pillar. 0 mm Bolts Phillips Screws 0 mm ut Phillips Screw Phillips Screwdriver *Reinstall the (3) phillips screws securing the steering column shroud ( underneath and 2 behind the steering wheel). urn the steering wheel for access. 3 /4 Drive Rachet, 0mm Socket *Reinstall the (5) 0 mm bolts and () 0 mm nut securing the steel knee bolster panel. 4 Page 7 of 22

18 KIA Genuine Accessories (Vehicle Reassembly) Pressure Clips Phillips Screws Phillips Screwdriver Phillips Screws *Reinstall any connectors, including the BDII connector that may have been removed from the lower dash finish panel. *Reinstall the lower dash finish panel by engaging the (5) pressure clips and the (2) phillips screws. 5 Phillips Screwdriver *Reinstall the (2) phillips screws on the side of the lower dash finish panel. *Adjust the tilt/telescopic steering column 3-4 times through its full range of motion to ensure there is sufficient slack in the remote start harness at the ignition connector and behind the lower dash finish panel. WARIG! ngine Stall Hazard. o prevent stress on the remote start wire harness, ensure the tilt/ telescopic steering column is fully extended, if equipped. nsure all connectors are fully engaged and locked in place. An engine stall could cause serious physical injury or vehicle damage.! 6 Hood Release Lever Plastic ut Pressure Clips Pressure Clips Push Clip 8 *Reinstall the driver s side dash end cap panel by engaging the (4) pressure clips. 7 *Reinstall the driver s side kick panel by engaging the (2) pressure clips, () push clip and () plastic nut, if equipped. *Reinstall the hood release lever. *Reinstall the weatherstrip near the driver s side kick panel.
