23 18 IMMOBILIZER INTERFACE PROGRAMMING Please read this entire procedure prior to attempting on the vehicle. Ensure both vehicle keys and 1 programmed remote start transmitter are in hand when programming. 1. Immobilizer Interface Programming NOTE: Two programmed keys are required for this step and the engine hood must be closed. Ensure both keys successfully start the vehicle. a. Sitting in the driver seat, be prepared to press the brake pedal to shut down the remote start system. b. Using the first key, turn the ignition on, wait for the THEFT light to turn off, then turn the ignition off and remove the key from the ignition switch. c. Using the second key within 5 seconds, turn the ignition on, wait for the THEFT light to turn off, then turn the ignition off and remove the key from the ignition switch. d. Activate the remote start function by pressing the START button (2) times within 5 seconds. The system should flash the parking lights and chirp the horn one time, pause for four seconds and start the engine. Note: If the Theft light flashes rapidly, check all four connectors on the Immobilizer Interface harness to ensure each connector is properly engaged and perform the above procedure again. e. After the engine has started, press the brake pedal to shut down the engine. The Immobilizer interface is now programmed. f. Attach new Remote Engine Start transmitters to the keys Rev. B 12/09

24 19 FUNCTION TEST Car Find 1. Press and hold START button - Horn should beep six times and parking lights should flash six times. Remote Engine Start Functions 1. REMOTE ENGINE START - Make sure the key is removed from the ignition switch, all doors, hood and trunk are closed (dome light is off) and the vehicle ignition is off. Press the START button twice within 3 seconds. The parking lights should flash one time, the horn should beep once, then the vehicle should crank and start. Once started, the parking lights will turn on and stay on signifying the vehicle is running. Verify that the battery indicator light is not illuminated. 2. DOOR AJAR SWITCH - Open any door and enter the vehicle. The vehicle should shut off. Activate the remote engine start. The horn should beep (6) times signifying that the door is open and the vehicle will not start. 3. BRAKE PEDAL SAFETY - Close vehicle door and activate the remote engine start. After the vehicle has started, press the brake pedal. The vehicle should shut off. 4. KEY-IN-SENSE - Insert the ignition key into the ignition switch but keep in the OFF position. Activate the remote engine start. The vehicle should flash the parking lights once as if it is going to start, but then the horn should beep twice and the remote engine start does not attempt to start the vehicle since it senses the key in the ignition HOOD SAFETY SWITCH - Remove the ignition key from the ignition switch and open the engine hood and activate the remote engine start. The horn should beep (7) times signifying that hood safety switch is activated and the vehicle will not start. NOTE: IF ANY OF THE ABOVE FUNCTIONS DO NOT PERFORM AS DIRECTED, SEE TROUBLESHOOT- ING GUIDE (SECTION 20). FUNCTIONAL TESTING IS NOW COMPLETE Rev. B 12/09

25 20 TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE NOTE: IN ORDER TO FULLY UNDERSTAND THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE REMOTE START SYSTEM, IT IS ADVISABLE TO REVIEW THE OWNER S MANUAL BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THE TROUBLESHOOTING PROCESS. 1.
