2 NOTES: Removed Parts:- Place all removed parts on a protected surface. Connectors:- When disconnecting connectors, do not pull on the wires; pull on the connectors. Wire Ties:- When using wire ties to secure harness, clip the wire ties after securing them. A. Vehicle Disassembly. 1. Remove the battery cover. (Fig. A-1) Fig. A-1 10 mm Socket, Ratchet i. Unclip the two (2) easy open tabs to gain access to the negative battery cable. 2. Remove the negative battery cable. (Fig. A-2) Negative Battery Cable i. Protect the fender before starting. ii. Be careful to not touch the positive terminal. 3. Remove the driver's side and passenger's side step covers. (Fig. A-3) i. Cover the floor and seats before starting. ii. Using the nylon panel removal tool, loosen the cover s three (3) clips, slightly slide the cover towards the front of the vehicle, and then remove it. 4. Remove the driver's side and passenger's side cowl covers. (Fig. A-4) i. Remove the one nut securing the cowl cover. 3 5. Remove the cluster panel. (Fig. A-5) i. Attach the masking tapes to the dashboard as shown. Nylon Panel Removal Tool ii. Loosen the clips of the cluster panel with fingers while moving the nylon panel removal tool in the clockwise direction starting from the bottom right corner. Masking Tape iii. Remove the masking tape. 6. Remove the hood release latch. (Fig. A-6) i. Remove the cable from the latch as shown. 7. Remove the lower dash cover. (Fig. A-6) i. Remove the three (3) screws securing the lower dash cover. 8. Remove the metal substructure. (Fig. A-7) i. Remove the four (4) bolts securing the metal substructure. ii. Be careful to not get cut by the sharp metal edges. 4 9. Remove the two screws securing the lower steering column cover behind the steering wheel. (Fig. A-8) i. Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to ON to unlock the steering wheel. Phillips Screwdriver Steering Wheel ii. Turn the steering wheel left and right to gain access to wheel. 10. Remove the lower steering column cover. (Fig. A-9) i. Remove the screw securing the cover. 11. Open the glove box door, then pull the edge of the glove box slightly toward you. (Fig. A-10) 12. Remove the glove box assembly. 5 B. Piezo Buzzer Installation. 1. On the passenger's side of the engine compartment, locate the vehicle harness' black 2P (female terminals) connector. (Fig. B-1) Tape i. Remove the tape securing the black 2P connector of vehicle harness. ii. Remove the cap from the connector, if so equipped. 2. Connect the Piezo Buzzer's gray 2P connector to the vehicle harness' black 2P connector. (Fig. B-2) Fig. B-1 Vehicle Harness' 2P Connector (Black) Cap 3. Using one (1) large strip of foam tape, secure the connectors to the vehicle's harness. (Fig. B-2) Piezo Buzzer 2P Connector Vehicle Harness Large Foam Tape 4. Using one (1) large strip of foam tape and one (1) large wire tie, secure the Piezo Buzzer to the positive battery cable as shown. (Fig. B-3) i. Secure the Buzzer with the hole pointing down. 6 C. Installation. 1. Route the V3 harness' ground wire terminal and 3P connectors between the dashboard and driver side J/B. (Fig. C-1) ' 3P Connector i. Route the V3 harness in the back side of the bracket. 2. Locate and remove the vehicle's ground bolt from the driver side cowl area. (Fig. C-2) 3. Secure the V3 harness' ground wire terminal, along with the vehicle harness' ground wire terminals, with the existing ground bolt. (Fig. C-2) i. 7 5. Disconnect the white 3P connector from the driver side J/B. (Fig. C-4) 6. Insert the disconnected vehicle's 3P connector through the opening between the driver side J/B and vehicle's harness as shown. (Fig. C-4) 7. Plug in the V3 harness' white 3P connectors between the driver side J/B and vehicle harness' white 3P connector. (Fig. C-5) 8. Secure both ends of the 3P connectors to the vehicle's harness with two (2) medium wire ties, as shown. (Fig. C-6) 9. Secure the V3 harness to the vehicle harness with two (2) medium wire ties. 8 10. Route the V3 harness up the left side of the driver side J/B, then secure the three (3) relays of the V3 harness to the vehicle's harness with three (3) large wire ties. (Fig. C-7) i. Arrange three (3) relays, as shown. Side Cutters ii. Be sure the clipped end of the wire tie is turned to face the driver side J/B as shown to prevent contact with the lower dash cover during assembly. Relays (x2) Large Wire Tie 11. Route the V3 harness toward the upper portion of the driver side J/B, then secure it to the vehicle's harness with three (3) medium wire ties. (Fig. C-8) Large Wire Tie Relay Large Wire Tie i. Be sure the clipped end of the wire tie is turned to face the driver side J/B as shown to prevent contact with the lower dash cover during assembly. 9 12. Route the V3 harness toward the steering area, then secure it to the vehicle's harness with three (3) medium wire ties. (Fig. C-9) Side Cutters 13. Locate and disconnect the white 13P connector from the steering column. (Fig. C-10) 14. Using a small jeweler's screwdriver, lift up the terminal retainer on the back of the 13P connector. (Fig. C-11) Medium Wire Ties (x3) Vehicle Harness ' 4P Connectors i. Do not pull out the retainer. 15. Locate the GREEN/RED wire in the bottom row, fourth space from the left and the RED/BLACK wire in the bottom row, sixth space from the left. Using a pick, release and pull out the terminal for the vehicle harness' GREEN/RED and RED/BLACK wires. (Fig. C-11) Fig. C-9 Correct Not Correct Not Correct i. Turn the connector so the wires face you and the tab is on top. ii. 10 16. Insert the terminal at the end of the V3 harness' RED/ BLACK wire into the bottom row, sixth space from the left of the vehicle's harness 13P connector. (Fig. C-12) 17. Insert the terminal at the end of the V3 harness' GREEN/RED wire into the bottom row, fourth space from the left of the vehicle's harness 13P connector, then close the retainer. (Fig. C-12) i. Turn the connector so the wires face you and the tab is on top. ii. Verify the correct opening is chosen. (1) Terminal should not come out when pulled lightly from the back. If terminal comes out, then push it back again. Jeweler's Screwdriver 18. Disconnect the empty 2P female connector plugged into the V3 harness' 2P male connector. (Fig. C-13) 2P (Female) 19. Using a small jeweler's screwdriver lift up the terminal retainer on the back of the empty connector. (Fig. C-13) Fig. C-13 2P (Female) Retainer i. Do not pull out the retainer. Page 10 of 39 pages

11 20. Insert the terminal at the end of the vehicle harness' GREEN/RED wire into the right side opening of the empty 2P connector. (Fig. C-14) 21. Insert the terminal at the end of the vehicle harness' RED/BLACK wire into the left side opening of the empty 2P connector, and then close the retainer. (Fig. C-14) i. Turn the connector so the wires face you and the tab is on top. ii. Verify the correct opening is chosen. iii. Verify the terminal is inserted and seated properly. If terminal comes out, then push it back again. 22. Plug the V3 harness' 2P connectors into each other, and reconnect the 13P connector. (Fig. C-15) 23. Bundle the excess V3 harness, then using one (1) medium wire tie, secure the 2P connectors and V3 harness as shown. 12 24. Locate and disconnect the black 12P connector from the steering column connector block. (Fig. C-17) 25. Connect the V3 harness' white 12P connector to the vehicle harness' black 12P connector. (Fig. C-18) 26. Plug the V3 harness' black 12P connector to the steering column connector. (Fig. C-18) 12P (Black) 27. Bundle the excess V3 harness, then using one (1) medium wire tie, secure the 12P connectors and V3 harness as shown. 13 28. Locate and disconnect the white 4P connector from the ignition switch. (Fig. C-20) 29. Plug the V3 harness' 4P connectors between the vehicle harness' 4P connector and the ignition switch. (Fig. C-21) 30. Using one (1) medium wire tie, secure the 4P connectors to the vehicle's harness. 14 31. Route the V3 harness through the opening between the heater control cables, behind the lower center cluster, to the passenger area. (Fig. C-23) Brace D. ECU Preparation and Installation. 1. Cut a butyl tape in half, then peel and stack the two (2) halves of the tape, and attach it onto the ECU mounting bracket as shown. (Fig. D-1) Heater Control Cables i. After attaching one side of the butyl tape to the bracket, do not peel the backing of the tape until Step D Insert the ECU mounting bracket into the indicated bracket slot on the V3 ECU. (Fig. D-2) i. Insert the mounting bracket into the correct slot; you have only one chance to install it properly. 3. Attach one (1) large strip of foam tape to the edge of the V3 ECU on the opposite side of the connectors. (Fig. D-2) Fig. C-23 Utility Knife Cut! 15 4. Turn the adjustment screw on the V3 ECU to the "5" position. (Fig. D-3) 5. Locate and remove two (2) nuts from the driver side center brace. (Fig. D-4) Screwdriver, Small Flat Blade 4 5 GBS Setting i. Do not discard the two (2) nuts. 6. Connect the V3 harness' ECU connectors to the V3 ECU. 16 7. Remove the protective sheet from the butyl tape of the mounting bracket, then using the existing two nuts, secure the V3 ECU to the driver side center brace. (Fig. D-6) i. Verify the nuts are tightened and secure. 8. Secure the V3 harness to the driver side center brace with one (1) large wire tie. (Fig. D-7) 12 mm Socket V3 ECU Nuts (x2) (Existing) E. Antenna Wire Installation. 1. Using a small foam tape, secure the GRAY Antenna wire to the ignition key cylinder as shown. (Fig. E-1) i. The GRAY Antenna wire installation must be routed as shown. If this routing is not properly done, the remote control operation range will be shortened. ii. The GRAY Antenna wire must be routed in the welding groove of the key cylinder. Fig. D-6 V3 ECU Side Cutters Brace Heater Control Cable iii. Rub the small foam tape to ensure it makes good contact with the ignition key cylinder. iv. The end of GRAY antenna wire must be positioned as shown. 17 F. Installation (Continued). 1. Route the V3 harness toward the glove box area, and secure it to the reinforcement with one (1) extra large wire tie. (Fig. F-1) 2. Using one (1) medium wire tie, secure the V3 harness to the metal substructure as shown. (Fig. F-1) 3. Route the V3 harness through the glove box area, and down toward the passenger's cowl area, and secure it to the reinforcement with two (2) extra large wire ties as shown. (Fig. F-2) 4. Route the V3 harness in front of the passenger side J/B. Secure the V3 harness to the vehicle harness with three (3) medium wire ties. 18 5. Locate and disconnect the indicated 9P, 8P, 10P and 18P connectors from the passenger's side J/B. (Fig. F-4) Passenger's Side J/B 9P (White) 10P (White) 6. Plug the V3 harness' 9P connectors between the passenger's side J/B and the vehicle harness' 9P connector, and the V3 harness' 10P connectors between the passenger's side J/B and the vehicle harness' 10P connector. Plug the V3 harness' 8P connectors between the passenger's side J/B and the vehicle harness' 8P connector, and the V3 harness' 18P connectors between the passenger's side J/B and the vehicle harness' 18P connector. 20 13. Plug the V3 harness' 1P connector into the vehicle harness' 1P connector. (Fig. F-10) Vehicle Harness' 1P Connector 14. Arrange the 14P connector in the passenger side cowl area as shown. (Fig. F-11) 16. Using two (2) medium wire ties, secure the V3 harness to the vehicle harness. (Fig. F-11) 17. Secure the 1P connectors to the vehicle harness with one (1) medium wire tie. (Fig. F-12) 18. Using one (1) medium wire tie, secure the excess V3 harness and vehicle's 14P connector harness to the vehicle harness. 21 G. Status Monitor Installation. 1. Using 3M Prep Sol-70, clean the area indicated on the backside of the metal substructure. (Fig. G-1) 2. When cleaning with 3M Prep Sol-70. Large Foam Tapes (x2) i. Always use a clean (lint free, scratch resistant) soft cloth (or wipe), and clean a small area at a time. ii. Shake well. iii. Apply 3M Prep Sol-70 to cloth or wipe. Do not spray cleaning solution directly on any vehicle surfaces. iv. Clean surface thoroughly and wipe dry immediately with a new clean cloth. Do not allow cleaner to air dry. 3. Attach four (4) large foam strips to the backside of the metal substructure. (Fig. G-1) 4. Refit the metal substructure. 5. Remove the knockout cover in the lower dash cover, second space from the left. Insert the status monitor into the knockout opening of the lower dash cover. (Fig. G 2) 7. Connect the V3 harness' clear and blue 2P connectors to the status monitor's clear and blue 2P connectors. (Fig. G-2) 8. Wrap the clear and blue 2P connectors with one (1) small foam tape strip. (Fig. G-2) 9. Reinstall the lower dash cover. (Fig. G-2) Fig. G-2 Status Monitor Lower Dash Cover i. Connect any previously disconnected connectors before installing the panel. Page 21 of 39 pages

22 10. Locate the 10P door mirror control harness in the cluster panel area. Using one (1) medium wire tie, secure V3 harness to the door mirror control harness. (Fig. G-3) 11. Reinstall the cluster panel. (Fig. G-3) Side Cutters Medium Wire Tie i. Connect any previously disconnected connectors before installing the panel. H. Warning Label Installation. 1. Using 3M Prep Sol-70 (or Household Windex), clean the inside surface of the front door windows in the area where label will be affixed. (Fig. H-1) 2. When cleaning with 3M Prep Sol-70 or Household Windex, use the method described in Step G Place warning label on the inside surface of the front door windows as shown. (Fig. H-1) i. Use a piece of clear adhesive tape to lift the labels off of their protective backing sheet. ii. Do not touch the adhesive surface of the warning labels. iii. Line up the labels properly and place them on the glass once; do not use a label that was pulled off of the glass. 23 I. Completing the Installation. 1. Completing the reassembly of the vehicle. Torque Wrench, 10mm Socket Battery i. Reconnect any disconnected connectors. ii. Verify the panels fit together properly with no uneven gaps between them. 2. Clean up and remove any trash. 3. Reconnect the vehicle's negative battery cable. (Fig. I-1) Negative Battery Cable 90 i. Position the negative terminal to the battery as shown (~90 deg.). ii. Tighten the nut with 4.1N m (36 lbf in) of torque. iii. Do not touch the positive terminal with any tool when replacing the cable. 4. Reinstall the battery cover. i. Secure the two (2) cover tabs. 5. Place the owner's guide and insurance card, left in their protective bags, in the glove box. 6. After completing the Functional Verifications (Section III), place the remote transmitters (left in their protective bags), in the glove box. Fig. I-1 Battery Page 23 of 39 pages

24 Section III Functional Verifications Section III Functional Verifications Check: Accessory Function Checks Look For: Fit appropriate fuse before beginning. Press and release the remote control s lock button to start the system s arming process. Wait 30 seconds. Press and release the remote control s unlock button to disarm the system. Press and release the remote control s unlock button again within 3 seconds of disarming the system. 1. The tail and marker lights flash once. The buzzer chirps once. All doors lock. The Status Monitor s LED lights up. 2. After 30 seconds, the LED starts flashing; the system is now armed. 3. The tail and marker lights flash twice. The buzzer chirps twice. The interior lights turn on for thirty seconds. The driver s door unlocks. The Status Monitor s LED stops flashing. 4. The tail and marker lights flash twice. The buzzer chirps twice. All remaining doors unlock. Open and close the driver s door. Arm and disarm the system with the remote again, then wait 30 seconds. Press and release the remote control s unlock button again to stop the arming process. Open the driver s door, then press and release the remote control s lock button. Close the driver s door. 5. The doors automatically relock. The system automatically starts the arming process. 6. Refer to step number The buzzer sounds continuously for 5 seconds. 8. The buzzer stops sounding. Using one (1) large strip of foam tape, secure the connectors to the vehicle's harness. 4. Using one (1) large strip of foam tape and one large wire tie, secure the Piezo Buzzer to the positive battery cable as shown. i. Secure the Buzzer with the hole pointing down. C. Installation. 1. Route the V3 harness' ground wire terminal and 3P connectors between the dashboard and driver side J/B. i. Route the V3 harness in the back side of the bracket. 3. Secure the V3 harness' ground wire terminal, along with the vehicle harness' ground wire terminals, with the existing ground bolt. i. Verify the bolt is tightened 6. Insert the disconnected vehicle's 3P connector through the opening between the driver side J/B and vehicle's harness as shown. 7. Plug in the V3 harness' white 3P connectors between the driver side J/B and vehicle harness' white 3P connector. 8. Secure both ends of the 3P connectors to the vehicle's harness with two (2) medium wire ties, as shown. 10. Route the V3 harness up the left side of the driver side J/B, then secure the three (3) relays of the V3 harness to the vehicle's harness with three (3) large wire ties. i. Arrange three (3) relays, as shown. ii. Be sure the clipped end of the wire tie is turned to face the driver side J/B as shown to prevent contact with the lower dash cover during assembly. Route the V3 harness toward the upper portion of the driver side J/B, then secure it to the vehicle's harness with three (3) medium wire ties. i. Be sure the clipped end of the wire tie is turned to face the driver side J/B as shown to prevent contact with the lower dash cover during assembly. 14. Using a small jeweler's screwdriver, lift up the terminal retainer on the back of the 13P connector. i. Do not pull out the retainer. 15. Locate the GREEN/RED wire in the bottom row, fourth space from the left and the RED/BLACK wire in the bottom row, sixth space from the left. Using a pick, release and pull out the terminal for the vehicle harness' GREEN/RED and RED/BLACK wires. i. Turn the connector so the wires face you and the tab is on top. ii. Verify the correct wire is chosen. 17. Insert the terminal at the end of the V3 harness' GREEN/RED wire into the bottom row, fourth space from the left of the vehicle's harness 13P connector, then close the retainer. i. Turn the connector so the wires face you and the tab is on top. ii. Verify the correct opening is chosen. iii. Verify the terminal is inserted and seated properly. 1) Terminal should not come out when pulled lightly from the back. If terminal comes out, then push it back again. 18. Disconnect the empty 2P female connector plugged into the V3 harness' 2P male connector. 19. Using a small jeweler's screwdriver lift up the terminal retainer on the back of the empty connector. i. Do not pull out the retainer. Page 33 of 39 pages

Insert the terminal at the end of the vehicle harness' RED/BLACK wire into the left side opening of the empty 2P connector, and then close the retainer. i. Turn the connector so the wires face you and the tab is on top. ii. Verify the correct opening is chosen. iii. Verify the terminal is inserted and seated properly. 1) The terminal should not come out when pulled lightly from the back. If terminal comes out, then push it back again. 22. Plug the V3 harness' 2P connectors into each other, and reconnect the 13P connector. 25. Connect the V3 harness' white 12P connector to the vehicle harness' black 12P connector. 26. Plug the V3 harness' black 12P connector to the steering column connector. 29. Plug the V3 harness' 4P connectors between the vehicle harness' 4P connector and the ignition switch. 31. Route the V3 harness through the opening between the heater control cables, behind the lower cluster, to the passenger area. D. ECU Preparation and Installation. 1. Cut a butyl tape in half, then peel and stack the two (2) halves of the tape, and attach it onto the ECU mounting bracket as shown. i. After attaching one side of the butyl tape to the bracket, do not peel the backing of the tape until Step D. 7.. Page 34 of 39 pages

Insert the ECU mounting bracket into the indicated bracket slot on the V3 ECU. i. Insert the mounting bracket into the correct slot; you have only one chance to install it properly. 3. Attach one (1) large strip of foam tape to the edge of the V3 ECU on the opposite side of the connectors. 4. Turn the adjustment screw on the V3 ECU to the "5" position. 5. Locate and remove two (2) nuts from the driver side center brace. i. Do not discard the two (2) nuts. 6. Connect the V3 harness' ECU connectors to the V3 ECU. 7. Remove the protective sheet from the butyl tape of the mounting bracket, then using the existing two (2) nuts, secure the V3 ECU to the driver side center brace. i. Verify the nuts are tightened and secure. 8. Secure the V3 harness to the driver side center brace with one large wire tie. E. Antenna Wire Installation 1. Using a small foam tape, secure the GRAY Antenna wire to the ignition key cylinder as shown. i. The GRAY Antenna wire installation must be routed as shown. If this routing is not properly done, the remote control operation range will be shortened. ii. The GRAY Antenna wire must be routed in the welding groove of the key cylinder. iii. Rub the small foam tape to ensure it makes good contact with the ignition key cylinder. Page 35 of 39 pages

Plug the V3 harness' 9P connectors between the passenger's side J/B and the vehicle harness' 9P connector, and the V3 harness' 10P connectors between the passenger's side J/B and the vehicle harness' 10P connector. 9. Plug the V3 harness' 8P connectors between the passenger's side J/B and the vehicle harness' 8P connector, and the V3 harness' 18P connectors between the passenger's side J/B and the vehicle harness' 18P connector. 13. Plug the V3 harness' 1P connector into the vehicle harness' 1P connector. 14. Plug the V3 harness' 14P connector between the vehicle harness' 14P connector and passenger's side cowl area. 15. Arrange the 14P connector in the passenger side cowl area as shown. G. Status Monitor Installation 2. When cleaning with 3M Prep Sol- 70. i. Always use a clean (lint free, scratch resistant) soft cloth (or wipe), and clean a small area at a time. iii. Apply 3M Prep Sol-70 to cloth or wipe. Do not spray cleaning solution directly on any vehicle surfaces. iv. Clean surface thoroughly and wipe dry immediately with a new clean cloth. Do not allow cleaner to air dry. Page 36 of 39 pages

Insert the status monitor into the knockout opening of the lower dash cover. 7. Connect the V3 harness' clear and blue 2P connectors to the status monitor's clear and blue 2P connectors. 9. Reinstall the lower dash cover. i. Connect any previously disconnected connectors before installing the panel. 11. Reinstall the cluster panel. i. Connect any previously disconnected connectors before installing the panel. H. Warning Label Installation. 2. When cleaning with 3M Prep Sol-70 or Household Windex, use the method described in Step G Place warning label on the inside surface of the front door windows as shown. i. Use a piece of clear adhesive tape to lift the labels off of their protective backing sheet. ii. Do not touch the adhesive surface of the warning labels. iii.
