To reflect that fact, the total pressure drop for a specific filter application is the sum of two pressure drop values: 1 The first value is the restriction that can be attributed to the filter housing without filter panels. This value is found in the graphs at right. The second value is the restriction through the filter panel media. These values are taken from the table below. The pressure drop values for the filter panels are listed in the table as pressure drop in inches of water gauge at various flow rates in M. The housing pressure drop is shown in graphical form as a function of air flow in M versus pressure drop in inches of water gauge. To avoid confusion, pressure drop values in the graphs include pipe entrance pressure drops from the atmospheric end of the inlet pipe. The second stage consists of a grouping of P- cartridge filters for each " X " X " pre-filter. The high efficiency P- cartridge filters have threaded ends that screw into individual receptacles. s each P- filter is removed and replaced, less than square inches is exposed to the flow of unfiltered air. s a result, "Hot Swap" changes is an option for these units. 6 The &W Universal R Series filter-silencer is a high attenuating, reactive (chamber type) silencer of rugged construction, typically required for intermediate and large low speed reciprocating or positive displacement machinery, where broadband noise attenuation and inherent vibration-resistant structural strength is required. The R Series filtersilencers use wire mesh panel air filters and are standard in four configurations shown below. The SH Series uses both primary pre-filter and a secondary stage final, panel filter elements, with a combined depth of ". The combination provides exceptional efficiency on ultra-fine particulates. The combination of the primary and secondary filter elements have a large surface area for low flow resistance and high particulate retention capacity. iltration efficiency exceeds 99.97% on particles 0. microns. The SH Series utilizes a unique fluid seal for the final (secondary) panel filter element. channel, provided on the P- final filter holds a stable silicone gel providing a 0% bypass-free system when applied to the most severe of conditions. When installed, the filters are staged, so that the less costly roughing pad, and the primary filter can be serviced more frequently than the final secondary stage filter. Under typical conditions, the pre-filter will be serviced about once a year, while the final filter may provide two or three years of service. Measure the pressure drop with the P- pre-filters removed, but the P- final filters installed; this gives the pressure drop across the final filters. Subtract the second value from the first to find the pressure drop across the pre-filters.
