3 Vertical Dry Pit Pumps WITH POWER FRAMES AND % RECESSED IMPELLER with a unique design which allows greater pump selection flexibility. VOLUTE: Each ESSCO volute is designed with maximum life in mind. Heavy duty back pull-out design, with slotted discharge flange for easy installation. Available in cast iron, high chrome cast iron with a Brinell hardness of and on special request 36 stainless steel (CF8M).ESSCO provides extra material in high wear areas as well as special designs to handle heavy grit slurries. With casting thickness up to.25". ESSCO 4x6 Vertical Dry Pit Large Power Frame vortex pump installed in sewage treatment plant. Pump handles grit and sludge. Pump features cast iron construction with a flushed double mechanical seal. ESSCO vertical pumps are of the % recessed impeller design and are capable of handling long stringy material, pipe size diameter solids and slurries. The ESSCO pump incorporates the vortex pumping action along IMPELLER: ESSCO pumps have various impellers available to allow for high capacity and low head capability, or high head and low capacity applications. ESSCO also incorporates a special machining technique to shred and break down any solids which might come into contact with the impeller. Repelling vanes on the back shroud of the impeller are a standard feature on ESSCO vortex impellers. Repelling vanes reduce pressure in the stuffing box and balance axial hydraulic thrust. Standard impeller is ductile iron. ESSCO impeller designs incorporate a lip on the back shroud to direct flow back toward the suction, and the lip has a flywheel effect which helps increase the overall efficiency of the pump. 4 SUBMERSIBLE Vertical Dry Pit PUMPS Pumps WITH POWER WITH FRAMES AND % RECESSED IMPELLER Stuffing Box: The stuffing box is a separate piece which allows for five rings of packing and a lantern ring. A mechanical seal may be substituted for packing (at an additional charge). Cast iron and high chrome iron units are supplied with a cast iron stuffing box. Stainless steel pumps are supplied with a stainless steel stuffing box. Sizes: ESSCOpumps are available in the following sizes: 3x3x8 4 x 4 x 2 6 x 6 x 2 6 x 8 x 7 Wear Plate: A wear plate is supplied on high chrome iron pumps only. The wear plate is a field replaceable part and helps increase the life of the stuffing box. The wear plate is available in high chrome iron material only. Pump Shaft: Heavy duty steel shafts are supplied on cast iron and high chrome iron pumps. The pump shaft has a tensile strength of 5, PSI and a yield strength of 3, PSI. Stainless steel pumps are supplied with a 36 stainless steel shaft. Shaft Sleeve: A renewable hardened 4 stainless steel shaft sleeve is provided on all packed cast iron and high chrome iron pumps. Stainless steel pumps have a 36 stainless steel shaft sleeve. Bearing Housing: Heavy duty cast iron cartridge type bearing housings are provided on all pumps. Bearing housings contain heavy duty bearings and are available in grease or oil lubricated design. 13 Jaw Elastomers Overview Elastomers In Compression Lovejoy offers four types of elastomer designs to allow for additional flexibility in addressing specific application requirements. One piece designs are used in the L and AL models (referred to as spiders) and multiple part load cushions are used in the C and H model couplings. The load cushions are in sets of 6 to 4 pieces depending on coupling size. JW Solid Center Spider The solid center design is commonly used design when shafts of the driver and driven equipment can be kept separate by a standard gap Open Center Spider The open center design allows for the shafts of the driver and driven to be positioned within a short distance Open center spiders offer shaft positioning flexibility but have a lower RPM capacity (,75 RPM maximum for NBR, 3,6 maximum for Urethane/Hytrel ) Cushions Used exclusively for the C and H Type couplings Load cushions are held in place radially by a steel collar which is attached to one of the hubs Snap Wrap Flexible Spider Design allows for easy removal of the spider without moving the hubs Allows for close shaft separation all the way up to the hubs maximum bore Maximum RPM is,75 RPM with the retaining ring, but if used with the LC Type (with collar) the normal RPM rating of the coupling applies Style is available in NBR and Urethane only, and in limited sizes Spider Materials SOX (NBR) Rubber The standard material that is highly flexible material that is oil resistant Resembles natural rubber in resilience and elasticity, and operates effectively in temperature ranges of -4 to 45 F (-4 to 232 C) Urethane Has.5 times greater torque capacity than NBR Good resistance to oil and chemicals Material provides less dampening effect and operates at a temperature range of -3 to 6 F Note: Complete technical data for the new Jaw In-Shear elastomer is contained in the next section of this catalog, labeled JIS on the page tabs. If within this period ESSCO receives from original buyer written notice of any alleged defect in any such apparatus and if the apparatus is found not to be in conformity with this warranty (the buyer having provided ESSCO a reasonable opportunity to perform any appropriate test thereon), ESSCO will, at its option and expense, either repair the same or supply a replacement thereof. 4. ESSCO, under either option, shall have the right to require the original buyer to deliver the apparatus for this purpose to a designated service center and the original buyer shall pay only the direct and actual cost of apparatus repair or replacement as provided above. 5. Labor charges for in-warranty repairs performed by ESSCO or its designated service center shall be assumed by ESSCO if the repair is completed within 2 months from date of shipment to original buyer. 6. On repaired pump, the warranty period shall be the residual of the original pump supplied.

29 7. Pumps destined for long term storage shall be stored in accordance with ESSCO suggested service bulletins. Any damage to the pump and motor due to improper storage shall void this warranty. 8. ESSCO'S LIABILITY UNDER THIS WARRANTY OR ANY OTHER WARRANTY WHETHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED IN LAW OR FACT SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF DEFECTIVE MATERIAL AND WORKMANSHIP AND IN NO EVENT SHALL IT BE LIABLE FOR CONSEQUENTIAL OR INDIRECT DAMAGES. 9. ESSCO reserves the right to reject any claim due to mis-application, abuse, neglect or nonmaintenance of equipment. All rotating parts are subject to the above replacement schedule. Cast iron, ductile iron, stainless steel pumps put into grit service, without prior written factory approval, shall void all warranties whether expressed or implied..
