1 General information This document contains information on the following: G32 General information Grounding of bodywork functions in the chassis frame Grounding of bodywork functions in the cab Power supply to bodywork functions Grounding in chassis frame G46 G47 The chassis has two ground connections for bodywork functions, G46 and G47. The ground screws are designed with an external M10 thread on the screw flange. This makes it possible to connect cables without loosening the screw from the frame side member. The battery ground screw, G32, must never be used for grounding of bodywork functions. All grounding for bodywork functions on the chassis frame must be connected to the left-hand frame side member as this is where the battery s minus pole is connected. Grounding in the right-hand frame side member will cause voltage drops. G46 is positioned on the inside of the left-hand frame side member, behind the battery box. G47 is positioned on the inside of the left-hand frame side member, behind the rear pair of wheels. 2 Grounding in chassis frame Connection of cable terminals Connect the cable terminals to the inside of the frame side member as follows: Use a stainless steel M10 nut with locking feature, e.g. Nyloc. Tightening torque: 30 Nm ± 3 Nm. To ensure locking of the nut, the largest permitted total thickness of the cable terminals is 6 mm, and a maximum of three cable terminals may be connected. At least one thread turn must be visible on the screw in the tightened joint Do not tighten the ground screw lock nut with an impact nut runner. If the ground screw is moved or loosened, it cannot be used for grounding any more. Information on installation of new ground connections can be found in the section Additional ground connection. 1. It is there to secure the ground screw and create a good connection to the chassis. Mask the screw when painting as the paint can impair the function of the ground connection. 3 Grounding in chassis frame Additional ground connection When it is not possible to use the regular ground connections intended for bodywork functions, an additional ground connection can be installed in a more suitable location in the left-hand frame side member Scania ground screw (part number ) must always be used. The grooved part of the ground screw cuts into the hole on the frame member, which creates a good ground connection. All grounding for bodywork functions on the chassis frame must be connected to the left-hand frame side member as this is where the battery s minus pole is connected. Grounding in the right-hand frame side member will cause voltage drops. 1. Flange nut M12 2. Washer M12 3. Ground screw 4. Lock nut M Requirement for positioning and drilling of hole for ground connection: The minimum permitted distance from the frame side member s upper and lower flanges to the centre of the hole is 60 mm. The hole must be cylindrical and at a right angle to the chassis frame and reamed to a diameter of mm. Ensure that the hole is free of paint, rust and burrs that may have been created during drilling/reaming. 4 Grounding in chassis frame Fitting 1. Push in the ground screw and ensure the threads are not damaged. 2. Lock the ground screw with an M12 flange nut and washer. Use the tightening torque 85 ± 10 Nm. 3. The largest permitted distance between the screw flange and the frame side member is 0.8 mm. If the distance is greater than this, knock in the screw the last part using a suitable socket and hammer. Alternatively, the ground screw can be driven in using the nut. If the distance is still greater than 0.8 mm, the hole may be too small. In this case, knock out the screw, ream the hole to the correct size and insert a new ground screw. 4. Finish the work by checking the tightening torque. Do not tighten the nut with an impact nut runner. <0, Scania CV AB 2018, Sweden 4 (9)

5 Grounding in the cab Grounding in the cab All grounding must be connected to prepared electrical ground points in the cab to ensure the desired function. Grounding to other points may cause damage to the vehicle. G65 G64 G1 Ground connection G70 in bodywork central electric unit P9 Ideally, use the ground connection in the bodywork central electric unit for grounding in the cab. The ground connection is designated G70 and the maximum permitted current is 90 A. Junction blocks The cab has five junction blocks for ground connection. Depending on vehicle configuration, some ground connections may be occupied. The maximum permitted load per junction block is 6.4 A. The maximum permitted total load for all junction blocks is 32 A. Suitable cable terminals can be purchased from Scania dealers. More information is found under the heading Part information. 8 Power supply Power supply Ideally, use the bodywork central electric unit P9 for the power supply to bodywork functions. The maximum permitted power output from the bodywork central electric unit is a total of 90 A. The power output is split between the following types of power supply: 15 voltage: The maximum permitted power output is a total of 30 A for fuses F7- F voltage: The maximum permitted power output is a total of 60 A for fuses F1- F6. If a greater power output is required than the bodywork central electric unit is dimensioned for, a power supply must be taken from chassis central electric unit P11, position designation P11-F. 1. If a greater power output is required inside the cab, the cable from the chassis central electric unit must be taken into the cab through the lead through in the passenger side of the cab floor.
