3 Design of frame side members The chassis frame is wider at the front than at the rear. The front section of the chassis frame is angled 2.7 outwards seen from the parallel rear section. The angle starts at 2,05 mm behind the foremost front axle. Chassis frames may have 2 different internal widths, depending on whether they are single or double frames: 752 mm for frame types F700, F800 and F mm for frame types F957 and F958 2, The external width of the chassis frame varies depending on the thickness of the frame. The dimensions of each frame type are found in the table at the beginning of this document. The side members are equally high throughout their length except for low tractors with configuration LA4x2EB or LA6x2/4LB, where the height of the side members varies depending on rear axle suspension Scania CV AB 207, Sweden 3 (6)

4 Pilot holes All chassis frames have 2 reference holes with a diameter of 9.2 mm which mark the theoretical positioning of the first driving rear axle Scania CV AB 207, Sweden 4 (6)

5 Double frames Frame side members on frame types F957 and F958 are reinforced with an inner frame. The inner frame is marked in colour in the illustration. 376 JR The inner frame starts at 376 mm behind the centre of the first front axle and ends at varying distances (JR) behind the centre of the first driving rear axle. The JR distance varies depending on the specification of the chassis frame. The JR distance is specified in the ICS (Individual Chassis Specification). Chassis frames with an inner frame that reaches to the rear edge of the chassis frame can be ordered as a special order. Please contact a Scania dealer if required. JR is the measurement from the centre of the first driving rear axle to the end of the inner frame. The dimensions are found in ICS Scania CV AB 207, Sweden 5 (6)

6 Design of crossmembers Crossmembers may be designed in many different ways depending on which chassis frame they are fitted to and where the crossmember is located. Example: Crossmembers may be all in one piece (). Some crossmembers are not complete, but are welded together with end pieces (applies to all-wheel drive trucks) (2). The length of the finished crossmember, including the end pieces, varies as the crossmember and the end pieces are welded together in different ways. This crossmember is only available in a single version. Trucks with air suspension have a cast crossmember with a closed cross-section in front of each driving axle (3). Crossmembers come in various plate thicknesses depending on the type of chassis frame. 2 3 Position of crossmembers The location of the third crossmember counted from the front is standardised. The distance from the centreline of the third crossmember to the centre of the foremost front axle is 2,075 mm. The exception is trucks with all-wheel drive.
