To reduce the risk of electrical shock, turn off power supply before installation or servicing. 2. This luminaire must be installed in accordance with the NEC and your local electrical code. If you are not familiar with these codes and requirements, consult a qualified electrician. 3. Risk of fire. Most dwellings built before 1985 have supply wire rated 60 C. Consult a qualified electrician before installing. 4. In continuously operating Metal Halide systems (24 hours/day, 7 days/week), turn lamps off once per week for at least 15 minutes. Failure to comply increases the risk of violent lamp failure. 5. DO NOT REMOVE THE BALLAST COVER OR GASKET. REMOVAL OF THE BALLAST COVER OR GASKET VOIDS THE WARRANTY. If this unit is supplied with a photocell, install photo control shield on photocell. Failure to install shield may cause DIRECT fixture to cycle MOUNTING on and off. TO RECESSED BOX (WALL OR CEILING) 3. If surface wiring is required, Surface Mounting Box is available. See Figure 2. If using Surface Mounting Box, refer to surface mounting box instructions for installation of fixture to surface mounting box. 4. Place a continuous bead of caulk between the surface edge of the gasket on the fixture and the mounting surface. A high grade caulking material such as silicone rubber should be used. DIRECT MOUNTING TO RECESSED BOX (WALL OR CEILING) Direct mounting may be done over a recessed single gang, octagon or any approved box where fixture bar mounting holes are approximately 3.25 (8.25 mm) apart. Direct mounting is also approved utilizing a surface mounting box, refer to surface mounting box instructions for installation of fixture to surface mounting box. No other methods should be used.

Stud hole (C) should be on the right side of outlet box when facing box to properly center fixture. 2. Thread stud (D) into stud hole (C) until several threads are engaged. Some fixtures are provided with glass insert (H). If fixture has glass insert, make sure glass is positioned so that it is above the lamp. 3. Splice leads and push splices into outlet box. 4. Care should be taken when mounting fixture not to pinch leads. Align mounting hole (G) with threaded stud (D) and push fixture up against mounting plate (A). For fixtures approved for vertical wall mounting, position fixture so that slotted hex head stud nut (I) is above lamp. 5. Secure fixture with slotted hex head stud nut (I). A 1/2 (13 mm) nut driver or socket wrench is recommended for a secure mounting. 6. For wet locations, caulk between rear gasket and mounting surface to prevent water from entering the fixture from behind. A high grade caulking material such as silicone rubber should be used. 7. Install lamp of proper wattage and lamp type provided with fixture. LENS MOUNTING 1. The lens mounting screws are black, stainless steel, self-threading screws that appear like normal #8 machine screws. Mount the lens by driving the screws into the holes provided in the ballast housing. The threads are formed by a roll ing rather than cutting action to provide a chip-free, superior strength, reusable thread. Screws must be fully tightened to insure a water tight seal around the perimeter of the fixture lens. Fixtures supplied with tamperproof screws have pretapped holes.

To reduce the risk of electrical shock, turn off power supply before installation or servicing. 2. Always disconnect the X3 lead from the ignitor before measuring the output voltage of all High Pressure Sodium ballasts and ignitor based Metal Halide ballasts. High voltage starting pulses can cause damage to commonly used voltmeters. The voltmeter you use must read true RMS volts. SOCKET VOLTAGE TEST PROCEDURE 1. Measure input voltage (V1) to verify rated input voltage is being applied to the fixture. 2. Remove the lamp from the socket and apply proper voltage to the ballast. Read the voltage (V2) between the socket pin and shell; reading must fall within the test limits shown in the table. (See Figure 2.) If reading does not fall within the RMS test limits, contact customer service.
