When to Turn Pins and Bushings 1. The track pins and bushings must be turned when the OD of the bushings is less than 2.11 inches (54 mm). TRACK PINS AND BUSHINGS Look for the wear point on the bushings so that the bushings can be installed 180 degrees from the original position. 6. Remove the track links from the bushings. 7. Remove any rust from the ID of the bushings and the OD of the pins. 8. Assemble the track links and bushings so that the bushings are installed 180 deg-rees from the original position. B892796J 2. The track pins and bushings must be turned when the track chain is measured across four chain links and the measurement is more than 27.5 inches (699 mm). 9. Lubricate the bore of the bushings, and the track pins with Case IH 135-H E.P. gear lubricant Assemble the track link assemblies using new Belleville springs. Install the Belleville springs as shown. a. Move the machine so that a track pin is over the carrier roller. b. Use the track adjuster to tighten the track. c. Measure from the front of a track pin to the front of the fifth track pin. d. If the measurement is more than specified, the track pins and bushings must be turned. Turning Track_ Pins and Bushings 1. Remove the track according to the instructions in this section. 2. Loosen and remove the bolts that hold the track shoes in place. 3. Use the portable hydraulic press CAS to remove the track pins. 11. Install the track pins so that the track pins are installed 180 degrees from the original position. 12. Use the portable hydraulic press CAS and press the track pins into place. As the track pins are being pressed into place, apply Case IH 135-H E.P. gear lubricant to the track pin at the space between the track links. 13. Fasten the track shoes to the track links with the specified nuts and bolts. Tighten the bolts to 190 to 230 pound-feet (256 to 312 Nm). 4. As the track pins are being removed, look for the wear point so that the track pin can be installed 180 degrees from the original position. Printed in U.S.A.
TRACK ROLLER ROTATION Rotating the position of the track rollers will increase the service life of the track rollers. When the front track roller is worn to half of the maximum wear limit, the position of all track rollers must be changed. 1. Use wear gauge CAS-1789 and check the wear on the fronttrack roller. If required, rotate the position of the track rollers according to the illustration below. B790850J Printed in U.S.A.
TRACK ADJUSTMENT Tracks that are too tight can cause increased track and sprocket wear, increased fuel consumption, and decreased power. Use the following procedure to adjust the track. 4. If the deflection is not correct, remove the plug at the front of the track adjuster. 1. Do not clean the track. Ad just the track tension for the ground conditions in which you will be working. If you are working in mud, adjust with mud on the tracks. 2. Drive the machine forward the length of the machine and stop the machine with a pin over the front carrier roller. Do not use the brakes to stop the machine. 5. To tighten the track: a. Add grease to the track adjuster to decrease the deflection of the track. 3. Put a straightedge over the track and measure the track deflection. The measurement must be 1-1/2 to 2 inches (38 to 51 mm). b. When the deflection is correct, install the plug. Pri'1ted in U.S.A.
To loosen the track: a. Loosen the valve in the track adjuster to allow grease to flow from the track adjuster. b. When the deflection is correct, tighten the valve to 45 to 55 pound-feet (61 to 74 Nm). Install the plug. Printed in U.S.A.
MASTER TRACK PIN 2. CHAIN LINK "' TO INSIDE OF MACHINE 6. CHAIN LINK 1 O. CHAIN LINK RIGHT TRACK SHOWN 13. TRACK PIN B892797J Issued Printed in U.S.A.
STEP 1 REMOVING THE TRACK STEP 4 Park the machine on a level surface. Stop the machine so that the master pin (pin with hole in end) is below the top of the track frame as shown. STEP 2 Raise the dozer blade all the way and put a support under the blade to hold the blade in place. Loosen and remove the nuts, bolts and track shoe that are below the master pin. STEP 5 STEP3 Loosen and remove the plug from the track adjuster. STEP 6 Loosen and remove the nuts, bolts and track shoe that are above the master pin. Loosen the valve in the track adjuster so that the track can be loosened. Printed in U.S.A.
