Built on proven robust reputation of the legacy S20 and S40 iterations, it retains a high strength cast aluminum housing, maintenance free bearings, reliable gear train and rotary circuit controller. SIEMENS Wayguard Electronic Bells are installed at railroad crossings as part of the crossing protection system in conjunction with devices, such as flashing lights and gates, to alert vehicular and pedestrian road traffic to an approaching train. The integral bell sensor allows it to be used with any of SIEMENS crossing monitoring and diagnostic systems. A microphone inside the bell "listens" for the sound of the bell and reports to other equipment. When used with a SIEMENS Mini Trackside Sensor (MTSS) unit in the gate mechanism and a SIEMENS Wayguard SEAR II Series Event Analyzer / Recorder inside the instrument house, the diagnostic information can alert the railroad of a bell system failure.
