4 PICTORIAL REPRESENTATION: (for reference only) Salvo Susie (UK) Lock FITTING & OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION IMPORTANT: Please retain this document & ensure that warehouse personnel, supervisors & drivers are trained on Salvo operation. GENERAL: The Castell Salvo-Susie is suitable for the UK emergency air brake couplings. Salvo prevents the unauthorised or accidental movement of an articulated trailer. Salvo for (UK) BS AU138b.C type coupling. OPERATION: Articulated lorry driver arrives at the specified loading bay and reverses the trailer into position, applies the brakes and switches off the engine. The Salvo-Susie is collected from the bay. The operator removes the Red emergency airline from the trailer bulkhead coupling, this action applies the air brakes and inhibits the movement of the trailer. The Salvo-Susie is fitted onto the now exposed emergency airline coupling. After successful fitment, a Castell coded key is released from the Salvo-Susie, locking the unit firmly onto the coupling. The fitting of Salvo-Susie prevents the airline being re-applied. From here the key is taken to the loading bay and used to open the bay door. Please refer to the system options shown within this document. Site working practices will also need to be taken into consideration. 5 Fitting Salvo-Susie onto a (UK) BS AU138b.C type coupling 1) Remove Red emergency brake line hose & offer Salvo-susie up to the coupling on the trailer bulkhead. 2) Salvo-susie is pushed over the coupling, ensuring that it is fully engaged. 3) Turn the trapped key anticlockwise and remove. 4) The salvo-susie interlock is securely fitted preventing any re-engagement of the emergency airline..

6 Salvo Gladhand (US) / Palm (Europe) Lock INSTALLATION & OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION IMPORTANT: Please retain this document & ensure that warehouse personnel, supervisors, yard jockeys & drivers are properly trained on Salvo operation. GENERAL: Salvo prevents the unauthorised or accidental movement of an articulated trailer. OPERATION: Salvo for ISO and SAE J318 glad hand type coupling Salvo for (EU) ISO Palm type coupling. Articulated truck driver arrives at the specified loading dock and reverses the trailer into position, applies the brakes and switches off the engine. The Salvo is located at the the dock or another place based on the application. The operator removes the emergency airline from the trailer bulkhead Gladhand/Palm coupling. This action applies the air brakes and inhibits the movement of the trailer. The Salvo Gladhand/Palm Lock is attached to the exposed emergency Gladhand/Palm airline coupling. When attached, a Castell coded key is released from the Salvo, locking the unit firmly onto the coupling. The attaching of Salvo prevents the airline being reconnected. The key is used the open the dock door lock. There are several system options available based on the application. 7 Fitting Salvo onto a Gladhand (ISO and SAE J318) type coupling OR Salvo for (EU) ISO Palm type coupling 1) Remove emergency air line brake hose (usually Red). 2) Attach Salvo to the emergency Gladhand coupling on the trailer bulkhead. 3) Rotate and lock Gladhand coupling into place 4) Push the Salvo sleeve towards the coupling. 4) Turn the key counter-clockwise and remove. 5) The Salvo is securely attached, preventing any re-connection of the airline.

8 Salvo Control Panel IMPORTANT: Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician. Control Panel should be mounted using anti-tamper fasteners to prevent unauthorized removal. OPERATION: For Manual Doors When the dock door lock bolt is in the closed position, the key is free & the Green LED is ON. In order to unbolt the door lock, the Salvo key must be inserted into the control panel and rotated clockwise, this action closes the switch contacts and enables the unbolting of the dock door. The Key is trapped when the door is unbolted and the LED light on the control panel is RED. Releasing of the key will only be allowed when the door is in the closed position and the door bolt locked. For Power Doors When the dock door is in the closed position, the key is free & the Green LED is ON. In order to open the dock door, the Salvo key must be inserted into the control panel and rotated clockwise, this action closes the switch contacts and opens the dock door. The Key is trapped when the door is open and the LED light on the control panel is RED. Releasing of the key will only be allowed when the door is in the closed position and the door bolt locked. Boxes should be mounted with size 10 or 12 x 1 (25mm) screws or equivalent & ¼ washers. Wall plugs should be used for solid brick & a self tapping type can be used for metal cladding. 4 screws & raw plugs are required to mount the box. The box should be aligned using a spirit level. The box mounting holes should be sealed with silicone. Cables should be connected to the switch & solenoid in accordance with the applicable wiring schematics, see attached. Ensure that the unit is wired for ground continuity. Check all input supply voltages with component ratings prior to powering up. Cabling can be pre wired type or flexible conduit with wiring all conforming to wiring regulations. All wiring should be neat & conduit must be clipped to the wall. All wires to be terminated using appropriate crimps & numbered clearly with ferrules. Lock portion comes complete with protective flip cap. Please retain this document OPERATION: These lights are mounted outside the warehouse on the loading dock wall and are designed to provide an indication to the driver and/or yard jockey. A Red light means that the Salvo air brake coupling Lock cannot be removed and the truck driven away. A Green light means that the key can be retrieved, the Air Brake Coupling can be removed and the truck driven away. Choose location that can be accessed by your power source is clearly visible to the driver. The power source connection can be made either through the underside of the housing by removing the plug and using the ½ ETW fitting provided, or through steel back plate. An ETW fitting may be used on the back panel as well. Using the housing as a template, drill 4 holes. If you are mounting to a brick or masonry wall, we recommend sizing the holes to accept ¼ lag shields.
