Costruct so that the huma body will ot come ito direct cotact with drive objects or the movig parts of the cyliders with lock. Devise a safe structure by attachig protective covers that prevet direct cotact with the huma body, or i cases where there is a dager of cotact, provide sesors or other devices to perform a emergecy stop, etc. before cotact occurs.. Use a balace circuit, takig cylider lurchig ito cosideratio. I cases such as a itermediate stop, where a lock is operated at a desired positio withi the stroke ad air pressure is applied from oly oe side of the cylider, the pisto will lurch at high speed whe the lock is released. I such situatios, there is a dager of causig huma ijury by havig hads or feet, etc. caught, ad also a dager of causig damage to the equipmet. I order to prevet this lurchig, a balace circuit such as the recommeded peumatic circuits (6- - to ) should be used. Selectio arig. Cosider stoppig accuracy ad the amout of overru whe a itermediate stop is performed. Due to the ature of a mechaical lock, there is a mometary lag with respect to the stop sigal, ad a time delay occurs before stoppig. The cylider stroke resultig from this delay is the overru amout. The differece betwee the maximum ad miimum overru amouts is the stoppig accuracy. Place a limit switch before the desired stoppig positio, at a distace equal to the overru amout. The limit switch must have a detectio legth (dog legth) of the overru amout + a. SMC s auto switches have operatig rages from 8 to mm (depedig o the switch model). he the overru amout exceeds this rage, self-holdig of the cotact should be performed at the switch load side. Refer to page 6-- regardig stoppig accuracy. Selectio arig. I order to further improve stoppig accuracy, the time from the stop sigal to the operatio of the lock should be shorteed as much as possible. To accomplish this, use a device such as a highly resposive electric cotrol circuit or soleoid valve drive by direct curret, ad place the soleoid valve as close as possible to the cylider.. Note that stoppig accuracy will be iflueced by chages i pisto speed. he pisto speed chages durig the course of the cylider stroke due to variatios i the load or disturbaces, etc., the dispersio of stoppig positios will icrease. Therefore, cosideratio should be give to establishig a stadard speed for the pisto just before it reaches the stoppig positio. Moreover, the dispersio of stoppig positios will icrease durig the cushioed portio of the stroke ad durig the acceleratig portio of the stroke after the start of operatio, due to the large chages i pisto speed. CJ CJP CJ CM CG CA CS C76 C8 C CP NCM Selectio arig. he i a locked coditio, do ot apply a load accompaied by a impact shock, strog vibratio or turig force, etc. Use cautio, because a exteral actio such as a impactig load, strog vibratio or turig force, may damage the lockig mechaism or reduce its life. Stop sigal Amout of overru Moutig arig. Be certai to coect the rod ed to the load with the lock released. If coected whe i the locked coditio, a load greater tha the turig force or holdig force, etc. may operate o the pisto rod ad cause damage to the lock mechaism. The CN series is equipped with a emergecy ulockig mechaism, however, whe coectig the rod ed to the load this should be doe with the lock released. Particular care should be take to match the load s ceter of gravity with the ceter of the cylider shaft. he there is a large discrepacy, the pisto rod may be subjected to ueve wear or damage due to the iertial momet durig lockig stops. Bolt, --8-C7, --8-C, Foot --8-AC 6 Other --8-BC idth across Torque flats (N m) 6. Adjustmet. Do ot ope the cushio valve beyod the stopper. As a retaiig mechaism for the cushio valve, a crimped sectio (ø head cover) or retaiig rig is istalled (ø to ø), ad the cushio valve should ot be opeed beyod that poit. If ot operated i accordace with the above precautios, the cushio valve may be ejected from the cover whe air pressure is supplied.. Be certai to use a air cushio at the ed of the cylider stroke. If this is ot doe, the tie-rod or pisto assembly will be damaged.. Adjust the cylider s air balace. Balace the load by adjustig the air pressure i the frot ad rear sides of the cylider with the load coected to the cylider ad the lock released. Lurchig of the cylider whe ulocked ca be preveted by carefully adjustig this air balace.. Adjust the moutig positios of the detectors o auto switches, etc. he itermediate stops are to be performed, adjust the moutig positios of detectors o auto switches, etc., takig ito cosideratio the overru amout with respect to the desired stoppig positios. Peumatic Circuit arig arig arig Note) Ca be used if all of the geerated momet is absorbed by a effective guide. Cautio Cautio. Be certai to use a air pressure circuit which will apply balacig pressure to both sides of the pisto whe i a locked stop. I order to prevet cylider lurchig after a locked stop, whe restartig or whe maually ulockig, a circuit should be used which will apply balacig pressure to both sides of the pisto, thereby cacelig the force geerated by the load i the directio of pisto movemet.. Use a soleoid valve for ulockig which has a large effective sectioal area, as a rule % or more of the effective sectioal area of the cylider drive soleoid valve. The larger the effective sectioal area is, the shorter the lockig time will be (the overru amout will be shorter), ad stoppig accuracy will be improved.. Place the soleoid valve for ulockig close to the cylider, ad o farther tha the cylider drive soleoid valve. The less distace there is from the cylider (the shorter the pipig), the shorter the overru amout will be, ad stoppig accuracy will be improved.. Allow at least. secod from a locked stop (itermediate stop of the cylider) util release of the lock. he the locked stop time is too short, the pisto rod (ad load) may lurch at a speed greater tha the cotrol speed of the speed cotroller.. he restartig, cotrol the switchig sigal for the ulockig soleoid valve so that it acts before or at the same time as the cylider drive soleoid valve. If the sigal is delayed, the pisto rod (ad load) may lurch at a speed greater tha the cotrol speed of the speed cotroller. 6--

However, take ote that the slidig resistace of the pisto rod will be high compared to ulockig with air pressure.. he istallig ito equipmet or machiery, etc., i cases where it will be ecessary to hold a ulocked coditio for a exteded time, air pressure of. MPa or more should be applied to the ulockig port.. Do ot tur the ulockig cam (the arrow o the ulockig cam head) past the FREE positio.
