We made a choice to stock more inventory, concentrating on parts that we sold fewer than of in a year, knowing these parts are important in keeping your trucks on the road. All that, coupled with the fact that our warehouses were in need of an update, meant we needed a new system. We went out and did some research and visited other warehouses before we chose our new zone pull system with conveyors and scanners. This ensures every part is scanned before it is put into the tote to travel to the next zone. Before, people had to walk the entire warehouse to pull parts. It was labor and time intensive. They easily walked miles every day just to pull parts, put them on baker s racks and roll them around the warehouse to pick orders. We started with our new Ford warehouse. We were lucky because it was a blank slate, and we could put up racking, shelving and conveyors before we shipped out of the building. But with the Chevy, GMC and Dodge warehouse, we have to move racking and shelving and add conveyors while we continue to ship. By the time you receive this catalog, we will be halfway done with the warehouse, with a completion date at the end of November. I want to thank everyone who works here at LMC. All those who pitched in did their part without complaining, helping pull orders at midnight, stocking shelves and shuffling parts between warehouses. We all worked hard at making this process as seamless as possible to the people who depend on us to keep their trucks running.
