Main Wheels Serials thru before SB2X-32-21, 22T-0001 thru 22T-0689 before SB2X-32-21: The main wheels are of aluminum construction and designed to be used with tires and tubes. The 15 x 6.00 x 6 wheels use 6-ply-rated tube tires and rotate on two bearings protected against contamination by grease seals. The wheel is secured to the axle with a nut, and cotter pin. Serials thru after SB2X-32-21, & subs, Serials 22T-0001 thru 22T-0689 after SB2X-32-21, 22T-0690 & subs: The main wheels are of aluminum construction and designed to be used with tires. The 15 x 6.00 x 6 wheels use 10-ply-rated tires and rotate on two sealed bearings. The wheel is secured to the axle with a nut, and cotter pin. For disassembly/assembly of main wheels refer to the manufacturer s approved Instructions For Continued Airworthiness. B. Nose Wheel Serials thru before SB2X-32-21, 22T-0001 thru 22T-0689 before SB2X-32-21: The nose wheel is of aluminum construction and designed to be used with tires and tubes. The 5.00 x 5 wheels use a 6-ply-rated tube tire and rotate on two bearings protected against contamination by grease seals. The wheel is free castering on an independent axle and is used to steer the airplane on the ground by means differential brake application. Serials thru after SB2X-32-21, & subs, Serials 22T-0001 thru 22T-0689 after SB2X-32-21, 22T-0690 & subs: The nose wheel is of aluminum construction and designed to be used with tires. For disassembly/assembly of nose wheel refer to the manufacturer s approved Instructions For Continued Airworthiness. All Page 1
2 2. TROUBLESHOOTING Trouble Probable Cause Remedy Cracked or distorted wheel or wheel half. Hitting rocks or other hard objects during landing or takeoff. Use of sharp objects to break tire bead. Landing with flat tire or abnormally hard landing. Landing in crabbing position in crosswind causing excessive side force. Normal fatigue failure when used beyond expected wheel life. Inspect wheel using Zyglo to determine condition. Replace wheel or wheel half. CAUTION: Do not attempt to weld or repair cracks in wheel halves. Replace wheel or wheel half. Replace wheel or wheel half. Replace wheel or wheel half. Replace wheel or wheel half. Damaged bearing cone. Misalignment of bearings. Replace bearing cone being sure it is properly seated in bearing bore. Serials thru after SB2X-32-21, & subs, Serials 22T-0001 thru 22T-0689 after SB2X-32-21, 22T-0690 & subs: Rapid decrease of tire pressure (10 PSI per day) Axle nut improperly torqued. Serials thru before SB2X-32-21, 22T-0001 thru 22T-0689 before SB2X-32-21: Foreign matter in bearing grease. Serials thru before SB2X-32-21, 22T-0001 thru 22T-0689 before SB2X-32-21: Lack of bearing grease. Improper tire mounting and/or damaged seal. Leak at valve core. Replace and torque axle nut. Check grease seals for damage. Replace seals and be sure bearing grease is free from foreign matter. Replace bearings and repack with grease per manufacturer s instructions. (Refer to 05-10) Disassemble and replace seals. Replace valve core. Serials thru after SB2X-32-21, & subs, Serials 22T-0001 thru 22T-0689 after SB2X-32-21, 22T-0690 & subs: Medium decrease of tire pressure (10 PSI per week) Serials thru after SB2X-32-21, & subs, Serials 22T-0001 thru 22T-0689 after SB2X-32-21, 22T-0690 & subs: Slow decrease of tire pressure (10 PSI per month) Page 2 Improper tire. Scratches on sealing faces. Defective valve core. Standard decrease of pressure with some tubeless tires. All Use only tubeless tires. Replace damaged parts. Replace valve core. Inflate tire to appropriate pressure. Check inflation pressure every month.
