7 GENERAL DATA Container Hoppers The individual hoppers can be screwed onto the press container feed opening. The customer can replace and even retrofit the hoppers as wished dependent on the application and place of use. Take note! If the machine is installed at a ramp the max. allowed ramp height (mm) has to be observed implicitly! (please see list below) Further explanations can be found in the description of the individual hopper variants. If the set up situation is different, then safety measures peculiar to this individual case may be required! If there are other set up conditions at the customer location (e.g. higher ramp height etc.) then special hoppers must be fitted, so that the safety requirements for these local conditions are fulfilled. Generally in this cases you should get in contact with the manufacturer. When selecting a hopper for ramp feeding, external control panels can be permanently fitted on the press container. Nr. 10 POSITION Position An appropriate electrical connection must be available (see electricity). If the refuse presses are placed in generally accessible areas (e.g. market places) and are totally or periodically unsupervised, then additional technical or organizational safety measures, particular to the individual case, may be necessary. If the refuse presses are placed on ramps or filled from landings or work platforms, additional safeguards may be necessary. This applies in particular to safeguards against crashing as well as falling into and reaching into the intake opening, and against tight-squeeze positions with buildings (see Hopper Superstructures Chapter!). Safety devices may not be removed or made ineffective. For safety reasons, the necessary functions sequence may not be altered. Electric supply: Press containers are only allowed to be connected via plug connections, which a residual-current-operated protective device DIN VDE or DIN VDE with a residual current of IDn ma is switched in. To ensure a safe container exchange there must be sufficient space available. When measuring an area for sufficiency, take into consideration the amount of room required for - filling the container - swinging the locking hooks out - putting the container back with one person to guide. Horizontal placement Place container in a horizontal position on firm ground. A slight inclination (the pressing area (H) raised slightly) is acceptable. Put up weather protection - so that rainwater cannot penetrate the container Doing this will prevent: - an increase in weight - polluted waste water from flowing out of the container and contaminating the ground or reaching the sewage canal - operation being disrupted by snow and ice Take note! Do not use de-icing salts for defrosting! Area of use The PÖTTINGER MULTIPRESS Presscontainer is exclusively intended for the compression of waste materials. The material to be processed is feed into the container through the intake opening where it is then pressed together. In so doing the volume of waste can be reduced to up to one fifth of the initial volume. This prompt form of disposal enables the best use of waste material storage space. Take note! Do not process any dangerous materials (explosive materials, containers with dangerous contents, etc.). H TD 40/95/10 Dispose of special waste in accordance with regulations. No bulky refuse, no I-beams or U-beams. No solid iron scrap, no solid wood planks Bulky waste only possible for machines with bulky waste equipment (optional equipment) Take note! Secure against rolling away by using chocks or stops

Lift / tip change-over switch "4 + 8" Functions as a two-hand control in combination with the change-over switch (main control panel). See "Lift / Tip Device" chapter. (8) Lift/tip change-over switch (9) CE power supply point, fitted with a phase inverter (for easy pole reversal of the rotary field) (10) 16-pole plug is plugged in (11) in parked position, where there is an existing external control panel. 12 OPERATION Initial start-up Take note! The following points must be taken into consideration before initial start-up. 1. Check the oil level. Check the oil level before switching the motor on. The correct oil level reaches to the top 1/3 of the inspection glass when the press plate is in starting position B. (= hydraulic cylinders have moved out) Initial operation 1. Check that the fault lamp is alight - Emergency off switch - Thermal protection - Oil level monitor (optional) - Oil temperature monitor See Fault lamp item. 2. The door must be closed properly (For flap on both sides, for door on the right hand side of the press container) - Move the latch (13.1) in accordance with the direction of rotation - Move the ratchet (13) until the lever (14) locks in fully 2. Check the hydraulic lines and threaded joints. 3. Check the electrical connection. 4. Check the power feed phase. If the pump is running but the piston does not move down after pressing the button (3), then the phase inverter in the plug must be turned by 180, so that the direction of rotation of the electric motor is correct, 5. Carry out a function test (as per the chapter Start Pressing Procedure). 6. Check all emergency off switches. (16-pole plug must be docked in position!) 7. Check restarting protection. Press button (3), press container is running, push emergency off button (5), cancel emergency off button. The press container must not start automatically again, rather the operator must push the button (3) again. Keep people away from the rear of the machine! 3. Only put so much waste in the filling chamber so that the lid (press hood) can still be closed easily. Press hood is optional equipment! 8. Check the release button. Release case 1 run through: - Switch on: Button (3) - Emergency off button, press release button lightly, the piston must move backwards in direction (A). Release case 2 run through: - Switch on: Button (3) - After pushing the button (3) press the release button (6) lightly. The piston must move in the direction (A) here as well!

13 OPERATION Starting the pressing procedure 1. Open the padlock on the main switch. 2. Switch main switch on. The main switch is switched on by turning. O OFF O OFF I ON TD19/93/47 Switch position I-ON : The power supply for the electric system is switched on. Switch position 0-OFF : The power supply for the electric system is switched off. No pressing procedure can be carried out. Option: Open press position Piston remains in Pos. A after the cycle time set has finished. Option: Closed press position Piston remains in Pos. B after the time has finished. During this time more waste can be filled in the container. Repeat the filling and pressing procedure so long until the container is full. The maximum filling level has been reached when the pressed material rises back into the pressing channel (A+B) and does not permit normal feeding any longer. 3. Trigger emergency stop switch Option: Where the emergency stop switch has a key, trigger using the key. 4. Push ON switch. Option: Where there is a key operated switch, turn the key. 5. Wait for 3 press strokes. The works setting on the time lag relay is 180 seconds. 3 press strokes are carried out during this time (1 press stroke lasts about 5 secs.) The piston presses the material in the container and remains standing between A and B for an undefined period after the time lag relay has finished. Option: Optical filling display Pre-Full signal: The lamp (1) lighting up means that emptying must be carried out soon. Ending the pressing procedure The motor is switched off automatically after the time lag relay has finished (180 secs). 1. Turn main switch in the O-OFF position. I ON The power supply for the electric system is switched off. O OFF O OFF TD19/93/47 2. Lock the main switch using the padlock. Before leaving the machine always turn the main switch into the O-OFF position. Fit a padlock, lock and remove the key. A Open press position This prevents unauthorised persons from starting the machine. B Closed press position

During this loading process nobody is to stand within the area of danger. 1. Fasten the press container securely onto the transporter. 2. Unplug the power cable from the press container. 3. Unplug the external control panel (optional equipment). (Applies for control panels between the press container and ramp) 4. Check if all maintenance covers, the press hood and the fixing bar of the discharge door are closed and accordingly locked. 2. Depending upon the machine fittings, there are various pick-up attachments available on the container for lifting onto the transport. Press containers have pick up frames with the following options - DIN (Hook pick-up, Rope pick-up) Hook pick-up Rope pick-up TD60/96/3 - ÖNORM V 5727 (Chain pick-up) Chain pick-up TD60/96/4 The pick up frames are fitted with the 1570-System (hook height 1570 mm) as a standard. The front pick up hook can be ordered extra for vehicle types with 1470-System (hook height 1470 mm). (See Basic machine dimensional drawing) Take note! Lifting up and transport must only be carried out using a suitable system! The Road Traffic Licensing Regulations must be adhered to (maximum overhang, laden weight etc.). 4. The person carrying out the transport must ensure that the press container is locked securely on the vehicle frame (transport securing device). If not he must contact the manufacturer!

After unloading, close the unloading gate / unloading door again and secure properly. - Sight check if the door catch is locked accordingly. - Sight check if sealing is clean and undamaged Take note! Locking and unlocking can be carried out completely from the side of the container. Keep people away from the rear of the machine! 3. Open unloading gate / unloading door. Move the ratchet (13) until the levers (14) move out. 4. After the unlocking the door is stopped by the door catch (15) and is released for opening after the slewing of the operating levers (15.1). The door catch automatically gets back into the basic position The discharge door slew by 270 and lock with fixing bar

16 OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT 1. Optical filling level on the control panel - Pre - Full signal - Container filling level is approx. 75% (see 6-fold control panel) - Open press position: 2. Pre-full signal for external control panel See external control panel item 3 above. 5. Floor cleaner (1) Function: Additional sealing on the ram preventing dirt in the press chamber in the case of fractions with a high proportion of small particles of dirt. For example: Thin films, printer s cutting waste, strips of paper etc. 6. Glider for telescope sheets Function: Seals the telescopic plates against excessive dirt in the press chamber. See chapter on Cleaning and Care as well as the Maintenance chapter (adjusting the slide rails). 7. Equipment for bulky waste Through reinforcement of the press piston, the press side walls and container side walls the machine can also be fed with bulky waste. 3. External control panel - Standard case: When selecting a hopper for ramp feeding and combined hoppers, external control panels can be permanently fitted on the press container. - Separate control panel: Must be fixed on the ramp. Caution! When removing the container, remember to unplug the control panel from the container! Blind: Lamp option for optical filling level control Pre-Full signal

17 OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT 8. Lifting/tipping device for emptying the waste container. The lid of the waste container must be opened before emptying using the lifting/tipping device. Option: Automatic lid opening In general the lifting/tipping device is designed for pivot pick up (DIN) of 660 litre litre containers. 9. Converting the rear wall door to a flap The following fitting activities must be carried out here! - Fit both of the folding hinges (1) - Fit both of the hinge bolts (2) - Remove the cover plate (3). - Remove the door hinges. - Fit the additional locking (4) on the left hand side of the press. - Assembling of cover plate (3) - Remove of the door catch TD 60/96/1 Option: Can be retrofitted for cam tipping (containers litres) Operation of the Two hand control lifting/tipping device Take note! Only carry out the conversion of the rear wall in specialist workshops! 10. Front rolls / rear hook Keep the push button (4) depressed and push switch (8). See also the Hydraulic Unit wiring diagram as well as the hydraulic plan. Means that the press container can be shunted better. See: Base Machine Dimensional Drawing 11. Oil temperature monitor (optional) Used for switching off the press container if the oil temperature exceeds 70 C. The oil temperature monitor can be retrofitted in the optical oil level display. Attention: Only drain off hydraulic oil at least as far as the height at which the oil temperature monitor is screwed in, when the press container is idle and the hydraulic unit is depressurised. Electrical connection: See electricity and electrical wiring diagram. See the Hydraulic unit and the Hydraulic wiring diagram for the position of the monitor on the unit. 12. Oil level switch off (optional) Used for switching off the press container if the oil-volume in the tank is too low. The oil level switch off can be retrofitted afterwards

18 CLEANING - CARE AND MAINTENANCE Take note! When carrying out any cleaning, care- and maintenance work turn the main switch to position 0- OFF. Lock the main switch with a padlock: This prevents an unauthorized person setting the machine into operation. Unplug power cable from press container. Care and cleaning --> trained personnel Maintenance and conversion --> qualified staff Cleaning and Care Cleaning intervals depend on the respective operating conditions (pressed fraction). When processing perishable items e.g. food stuffs, the container should be rinsed out with water after emptying. This is easy to do when the container is in the tip position on the transport. Check the sealing lip between the frame and unloading gate and clean if necessary. This prevents sticking. Replace damaged sealing lips. The area behind the press plate can be cleaned after opening the door. This should be carried out every 2 months. Dependent on - The composition of the pressed fraction (proportion of the smallest/very smallest dirt particles) - Press container duty cycle - use of optional equipment - ram floor splashguard and/or telescopic sheet splashguard Maintenance - General After 100 operating hours the first maintenance should be done: - Filter cartridge in return filter has to be changed - Hydraulic aggregate and piping have to be checked for leaks and screwing have to be tightened Every 100 operating hours (or at least annually): a) Grease on all lubrication points: 1. Hinges rear wall door / flap 2. Rollers front / rear 3. Cylinder eyes - press interior b) Oil universal joints: 1. Rear wall locking 2. Hooks front (swivelling!) c) Adjust plastic strips and grease: Caution! If the plastic strips are adjusted incorrectly or too tightly - loud noises can develop (squeaking) during operation. 1. Grease the piston guide strips 2. Grease the side guideways in the press chamber e.g.: MOS2 - Spray 3. Adjust the telescopic plate scraper strip (5) and grease lightly. e.g.:mos2 - Spray Maintenance - Hydraulic Every 200 operating hours (or at least annually): - Check the hydraulic unit and pipework for leaks. Tighten the threaded joints. - Check the filter cartridge in the return filter. The filter cartridge must be changed after 200 operating hours. Every 500 operating hours or all 2-3 years, dependent on whichever occurs earlier: - Replace the hydraulic oil (approx. 50 litres) - Replace the filter cartridge (25µm) in the return filter Maintenance - Elektric Every 50 operating hours or at least annually Check the safety technical functions 1. Emergency off button (control and external control panel) 2. Simulate release case (see Initial start-up ) 3. Check the restarting protection (see Initial start-up )

19 CLEANING - CARE AND MAINTENANCE Replacement oils Yearly inspection Attention should be paid according the legal regulations of the particular country of operation that the machine has to be inspected on its safety at least once a year

20 TROUBLE SHOOTING Trouble shooting INTERRUPTION CAUSE REMEDY Unit motor is running, but the press piston is not moving Press will not start - but the release button is working (yellow mushroom button) Press does not start - and release button also not functioning The motor for the hydraulic pump is running in the wrong direction no oil in tank Emergency off button has been pressed plug and socket available for external control panel? Time lag relay faulty Main switch is switched off No voltage on the socket Fault in the control circuit for the press control Fault in press main power circuit or motor faulty Release pressure switch faulty Emergency off switch is pressed Thermal relay from unit motor has been triggered due to longer overload Alter direction of rotation on the phase inverter (socket on the press) Fill up with hydraulic oil if necessary (look for leak in system). Unlock all emergency off buttons (on both sides if necessary + external control) Plug in external control panel or blind plug Call service technician! Switch on main switch on the press Check fuse and FI protective switches in the building, check voltage on the machine (call specialist!) Fine-wire fuse faulty, relay.. (Call service technician!) Check motor contactor, thermal relay, motor (call service technician!) Test: Bridge pressure switch- Attention: Press then moves forward (call service technician!) Unlock all emergency off buttons (on both sides if necessary + External control) Relay cancels automatically after cooling down (Aposition!) Press shows a fault (red lamp) and cannot be started Oil level switch has been triggered - insufficient oil in the unit tank (usually when the press piston has moved out) Test: Move the cylinder in using the release button, wait 1 minute - lamp should go out Fill up with hydraulic oil if necessary (look for leak in system) Unit motor is buzzing and press shows a fault Press runs constantly (does not switch off after the press cycle) Press piston remains in an undefined position after the press cycle and switches off Oil temperature switch has been triggered (oil overheated due to continuous operation) Motor only runs in 2 phases. Pressure switch (F1) "Press position open" is set incorrectly or defective. Pressure switch for press position closed faulty or no defined press stop provided for Temp-switch cancels automatically - fault lamp goes out Check power supply point (fuse in building, cable..), call specialist! Switch the press off using the emergency off button; call service technician If necessary retrofit defined press stop, call service technician! Press piston remains in moved out and will not move back Press piston is rattling, stuck or moves forward and back in short strokes Reversing valve set incorrectly (reversing pressure) or reversing valve faulty Press piston guides loose or torn, press piston jammed Material stuck under the press piston Call service technician! Recommendations for work safety All points referring to satety in this manual are indicated by this sign. Meaning of warning signs Do not stand in the swing range of the unloading gate as it opens jerkily. Before initial operation read the operating instructions and safety instructions and follow them! 36 advice FOR WORK SAFETY Safety devices - All safety devices must be fitted to the machine and properly maintained. The immediate renewal of worn out and damaged coverings or guards is necessary. Operating safety check - Each time machine is to be put into operation, check transportation and operating safety. Check transportation safety before each trip - All gates and flaps must be closed and secured. Mains voltage - Before changing the location and before commencing any maintenance or repair work, turn the machine off and disconnect the power. TD23/93/1 Personal protection - The operator s clothing should be close-fitting. Wear head and hearing safeguards when necessary. Transportation of passengers - It is forbidden to transport passengers on the machine. Pressing area - Do not enter the pressing area during operation (danger of crushing). Crushing area - When closing the unloading gate or the intake area cover, do not reach into the crushing danger area. Maintenance on the hydraulic system - Depressurize the hydraulic system before carrying out any work. Danger of infection! - Fluids (fuel, hydraulic oil, etc.) being released under high pressure can penetrate the skin and cause injuries Cleaning the machine parts - Do not use a high pressure cleaner for cleaning bearings or hydraulic parts. - A 36 -
