1 Page 1 of 6 SUBJECT: VL2000 Optional Improvements: Color/Gobo Wheel SERIES: 2000 DISTRIBUTION: Service Centers, End Users STATUS: Routine,QWURGX WLRQ 10 minutes 3XUSRVH This technical bulletin contains instructions for optional improvements to the VL2201 and VL2202 spot luminaires and some VL2402 wash luminaires. If the color or gobo wheels are getting lost, split lock washers can be added between the motor and sensor PCB assemblies to move the sensor closer to the wheel hub. These procedures are not necessary to achieve proper operation, but may enhance performance of the respective components. To determine if these improvements should be made, follow steps 1 thru 7 to see if washers are present. If they are not, proceed with all steps to complete the installation. 3DUWV EA WASHER, #4 SPLIT LOCK

Remove power from luminaire. Step 2. At removable cover, using #2 Phillips screwdriver, turn two captive screws one-quarter and remove cover. (It will remain attached by tether.) (See Figure 1.) Wheel 1 (gobo) MTA receptacle from Wheel 1 motor. b. Wheel 1 sensor MTA receptacle from header Wheel 1 sensor. c. Beam size iris motor MTA receptacle from Iris motor. d. Wheel 2 (filter) motor MTA receptacle from Wheel 2 motor. e. Wheel 2 sensor MTA receptacle from Wheel 2 sensor. Note: Ensure lens is far enough forward for color bulkhead to clear.

3 Page 3 of 6 Step 4. At color bulkhead, using Phillips #2 screwdriver, release 1/4-turn fastener securing bulkhead to head assembly. Remove color bulkhead. Step 5. At heatshield, using #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove two 6-32 x 1/4" PPZ screws and #6 external tooth lockwashers. (See Figure 2.) At center of color and gobo wheels, slide retainer clips away from both motor shafts, unlocking wheel assemblies from shafts. (See Figure 3.) 4 Page 4 of 6 Step 7. Remove filter or gobo in wheel position 6 (opposite open space - position 0) and set aside. Step 8. Remove wheel assemblies by one of the following methods (see Figure 4): a. If Ultra Mini-Bars are available: 1) Using two mini-bars, carefully insert mini-bars under positions 0 and 6 and slowly pry each side up to remove wheel. (See Figure 4.) b. If Ultra Mini-Bars are not available: 1) Using two long flat head screwdrivers, carefully insert screwdrivers under positions 0 and 6 and slowly pry each side up to remove wheel.(see Figure 4.) Using flat head screwdriver, carefully pry up top of Kwik Link spring to disconnect Kwik Link spring from Iris crank (See Figure 5.) 5 Page 5 of 6 Step 10. At Gobo/Iris motor assembly, using #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove three 6-32 x 1/4" PPZ screws and #6 external tooth lockwashers that attach motor assembly to bulkhead. (See Figure 6.) 6 Page 6 of 6 Step 11. At color motor, using #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove three 6-32 x 1/4" PPZ screws and #6 external tooth lockwashers that attach motor assembly to bulkhead. (See Figure 6, Details A and B.) Step 12. On both the color and gobo motor assemblies, using #1 Phillips screwdriver, remove two 4-40 x 3/16" screws that attach the sensor PCB to the motor. Step 13. Place split lock washers between the sensor board and motor assembly. (See Figure 6, Details A and B.) Step 14. Replace two 4-40 x 3/16" screws on both motor assemblies. Step 15. Re-install motor assemblies and color bulkhead by doing steps 3 thru 10 in reverse. Step 16. Replace cover.
