3 LAUNCH KWB-501 Wheel Balancer Installation and Parts Manual Safety Precautions Safety Precautions Warning This manual is an integral part of the product. Please read it carefully. Keep the manual for later use when maintaining the machine. This machine can only be used for the designed purpose. Never use it for any other purpose. The manufacturer is not responsible for any damage incurred by improper use or use for the purposes other than the intended one. disconnected in case of emergency. Tools To ensure the smooth installation and adjustment, please get the following tools ready: An adjustable wrench, a set of box wrenches, a pair of scissors, a set of screwdrivers and a digital multi-meter (measuring voltage). Before installing and adjusting the equipment, pay attention to the following: Read the two manuals carefully and thoroughly. Any modifications to any components or parts, or use the equipment for other purposes without either obtaining permission from the manufacturer or observing the instructions of the manuals may lead to direct or indirect damage to the machine. The installation and adjusting personnel should have basic electrical knowledge. Do not put KWB-501 Wheel Balancer in a place with extreme temperature or moisture, or near the heating system, water tap, air-humidifier or furnace. Keep the machine from dust, ammonia, alcohol, thinner or spray type binder. KWB-501 Wheel Balancer should be installed on the even and stable ground. Avoid putting KWB-501 Wheel Balancer close to objects that may cause vibration such as the air compressor. KWB-501 Wheel Balancer should use individual power supply socket. Do not plug other power supply wire into this socket. The socket must be grounded safely. If the socket does not have ground wire, please connect the ground wire first. Avoid any trample on power supply wire. Keep the distance (at least 60cm) between the back panel and the wall for good ventilation. Enough room should be left on both sides of KWB-501 for convenient operation. Please contact the service personnel before moving the machine. Do not demount or refit the machine by yourself. Avoid any impact with the rotary shaft. Sundries should not be placed on the working desk. During the normal operation, if abnormal noise, fog or other noticeable phenomena occur, please turn off the power switch and unplug the machine. Then, contact relevant service personnel. Enough space should be kept in front of the power supply socket so that the plug can be quickly 1

Counterweight groove-- holder of the counterweight lead block. 6. Balance shaft for supporting the wheel. 7. Foot brake pedal--- It can stop the wheel after measurement, in order to give enough time for user to perform lead-hanging or lead-attaching operation. 8. Wheel protection guard-- To protect the foreign body from throwing off. Stop key: Return or stop running; Up key: For Next one; c) Weight unit indicator Different colors will be displayed according to the different weight unit system: g: Red oz: Green d) Working mode display area To display working modes or top-layer menu as shown in the following figures: 1) STD (Standard dynamic balance) Down key: For Previous one; Enter key: For confirmation; User-defined data calling shortcut key: calling; For user-defined data 2) ST(Static balance) Function key: Return or unit/result display switching; Dimension key: To modify the dimensions rapidly; START Start key: Start running. Other 5 keys marked with 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 respectively are the shortcut keys for ALU mode (ALU-1, ALU-2, ALU-3, ALU-4 and ALU-5) selection, press any one of these keys, the system can enter the corresponding ALU mode. b) Dimension unit indicator Different colors will be displayed according to the different dimension unit system: mm: Red inch: Green 3) ALU(Resolve/Hide lead), It has 7 modes as follows. 1. Pay attention to the barycenter of the machine. Do not tilt the machine much during the moving. Do not drive the forklift too fast. Keep the location of the machine on the forklift as low as possible. Do not overturn it during the moving (pay attention to the position of the barycenter). floor or other floors with hard surfaces. Adjust the anchor bolts till KWB-501 is level and stable (Fig.5). In order to fasten the machine reliably, use one M12 35 fastening bolt to fasten the machine on the floor tightly. Otherwise, it will cause vibration and noise. Enough spaces should be kept for operation and maintenance. The space should be not less than 1m at front and sides and 0.6m at rear to satisfy normal operation of the machine. If the machine is installed outdoors, the protective shelter is necessary. Keep the machine away from flammable gases. Fig.5 Unpacking Fig.4 Open the packing box according to the Instruction on it. Remove the packing materials and check whether the machine is damaged during the transportation. Confirm whether the main unit, accessory parts, and relative materials are all included. Keep packing materials away from children. If the packing materials may cause pollution, please dispose them properly. Remove accessories and spare parts supplied with the machine and place them on a safe place. Then, remove the cabinet fixed on bottom plate of packing box and place them at a safe place. Attention: Special anti-rust oil applied on the precise parts may attract dust. Clean it when necessary. Positioning and Installation The installation position must satisfy the requirement of safe work. The machine should be installed close to the main power supply. The machine should be installed on the even concrete 6 Note: In order to use the machine safely and reasonably, LAUNCH suggests installing the machine at least 0.6m away from the wall. Attention: Please place, move, and store KWB-501 Wheel Balancer in accordance with safety signs on the package Never lift the rotary shaft when moving, installing or operating KWB-501 Wheel Balancer. Otherwise, the rotary shaft may be damaged. Make sure that the machine is stable and in good condition after installation. Then install KWB-501 Wheel Balancer according to the following Setup Instruction. Step 1: Installation of the hanging handle (A) Take out the handing handles (6 pieces) from the accessory box (Fig. 6) and screw them into the threaded holes on the left side of the cabinet (Fig. 7).

Pull the two connecting cables of the control panel passing through the circular hole on the top cover board of the cabinet, and plug them into the corresponding circular holes on the rear side of the control panel after passing through the control panel post, and then insert the post into the display fastening base on the top cover board of the cabinet, as shown in Fig.10. Fig. 7 Step 2: Installation of the screw stem Take out the screw stem from the accessory box and screw it into the main-shaft, and then fasten it with wrench as shown in Fig. 8. Fig Fastening the control panel: Screw a M6*30 screw (with plain/spring washer) into the display fastening base passing through the circular hole on the rear of the top cover board of the cabinet and fasten it with a screwdriver, and then install the rear cover board well, as shown in Fig.11. 10 LAUNCH KWB-501 Wheel Balancer Installation and Parts Manual Installation Step 5: Installation of the wheel protection guard and the bent pipe The wheel protection guard of KWB-501 wheel balancer is as shown in Fig.15. It is packed individually. Fig. 12 Installation of the overturn casing assembly: Open the top cover board of the overturn casing assembly, according to Fig.13, screw M10*20 bolts (4 sets totally, with plain/spring washers) into the threaded holes on the side of the cabinet and fasten them; meanwhile please connect the cable for the limit switch and fasten it well. Fig. 15 The bent pipe is as shown in Fig.16. The cabinet is connected with the wheel protection guard through the bent pipe. It is packed in a big packing box. Screw M4*10 screws (with plain/spring washers, 4 sets totally) into the threaded holes on the welding lug of the bent pipe and fasten them. Insert M8*45 bolts (with plain/spring washers, 2 sets totally) into the threaded holes on the bent pipe and the bent pipe fastening axle, and then lock them with M8 nuts. (c) Fig. 18 Step 6: After accomplishing the above assembling procedures, the machine is as shown in following figures (a, b, and c, 3 directions): Step 7: Switch on the machine Check whether the power supply is in accordance with the requirements of the data plate on the machine before connection. All connection of circuit must be done by professional. The socket of the power supply must be installed within the reach of the operator. The height should be set at m. If the supplied voltage is not stable, please use a voltage regulator. The machine must have a good cabinet ground connection. Now you have finished the installation of KWB-501 Wheel Balancer successfully. (a) (b) 9

12 LAUNCH KWB-501 Wheel Balancer Installation and Parts Manual Equipment Calibration Equipment Calibration Calibration Modes for the Balancer Attention: The calibration operation should be carried out after first installation or if the measurement accuracy of the equipment is suspect, to ensure the measurement accuracy of the balancer. Turn on the power supply switch of the balancer, install a wheel with medium size ( ), and then switch the balance mode to CAL as shown in Fig.19. Press key first, and then press + key combination to enter the calibration system, the balance mode displaying interface will display CAL-1 mode as shown in Fig.20. This balance mode is of the Self-test for Phase Raster. You can switch the balance mode to CAL-2 or CAL-3 calibration mode by pressing Up/Down ( / ) key. Fig.19 Fig.25 CAL-1: Self-test for Phase Raster Under CAL1 menu, the system can perform the gear pan phase raster s inspection. Note: The inside result displaying area will display Pn (n: 1~2), and the outside displaying area will display the specific values. inside/outside result displaying area will display 100, ADD, it indicates that a lead weight block (100g) should be attached at the imbalance position on the inside of the wheel. Press key to run the machine. After that, inside/outside result displaying area will display ADD, 100, it indicates that a lead weight block (100g, too) should be attached at the imbalance position on the outside of the wheel. Remove that 100g lead weight block attached on the inside of the wheel, and then attach a 100g lead weight block at the imbalance position on the outside of the wheel. START Press key to run the machine. After that, inside/outside result displaying area will display End, CAL, it indicates that System Calibration is finished. Generally speaking, System Calibration operation should be performed before the machine leaving factory or after the machine re-assembled. We do not suggest the client to perform the operation at will. CAL-3: Common Calibration Install a standard wheel ( ) with imbalance value less than 10g. Input the size of the wheel rim, and then enter this mode. After entering this mode, inside/outside result displaying area will display ADD, 100 respectively. At this moment, please attach a lead weight block (100g) on the imbalance position indicated, and then press START key to run the machine. After that, inside/outside result displaying area will display ADD, 100 respectively. Remove that attached lead weight block (100g), and then rotate the wheel to find the new imbalance position on the wheel rim outside. After that, please attach another lead weight block (100g) on current imbalance position. Press START key to run the machine, the inside/outside result displaying area will display End, CAL respectively, it indicates that the calibration is finished. P1: Setting measurement time period (Divided into 10 classes, from 0 to 10; the class is more higher, the measurement time period is more longer); P2: Counted value of gear pan. CAL-2: System Calibration After entering System Calibration, the result displaying area will display GO, GO, prompting that it is ready for operator to perform the first run for standard wheel. Now, the following preparation work should be done: Install a standard wheel (14 17 ) with imbalance value less than 10g on the main-shaft, and then enter the sizes of the wheel. Press key to run the machine. After that, 10
