1 0, 0 ontrol all alves With langed onnections INSTLLTION INSTRUTIONS PPLITION The 0 Two-Way and the 0 Three-Way ontrol all alve control hot and chilled water with glycol solutions up to 0% in heating, ventilating and air conditioning (H) systems to provide two-position or modulating functions. These valves can be used with Honeywell electronic actuators. pplication Notes IMPORTNT alve sizing is important for correct system operation. Undersized valves do not have sufficient capacity at maximum load. Oversized valves do not have sufficient authority over the load in modulating applications. Oversized valves can cause excessive cycling and the seat and ball can be damaged because of the restricted opening. Proper Use These valves are only for use in cold, warm, and hot water systems. Not suitable for oil or combustible gases. or water application, they are designed for a medium temperature range from - to 0, at a maximum pressure of 60 psi for -/" & " valves and 0 psi for ", ", & 6" valves. The valves are to be operated with the appropriate Honeywell electronic actuators only. Water should be properly filtered, treated and conditioned according to local conditions and the recommendations of the boiler or chiller manufacturers. The installation of strainers and filters is recommended. IMPORTNT The presence of excessive iron oxide (red rust) in the system voids the valve warranty. Required Torque Honeywell electronic actuators can be utilized with the 0 and 0 valves. See Table, which lists the torque requirement for each valve size. See Table, which lists the close-off pressure rating for the valves with the different torque actuators. Larger torque actuators may be used, but there is no increase in close-off pressure rating. Table. Torque Requirement Type Size Torque Requirement (in-lbs) -way / * 0 -way / * 0 *6" requires 0 in-lb actuator for flows up to 700 gpm. or flow rates greater than 700 gpm a 00 in-lb actuator is recommended. alve Type alve Size Table. lose-off Pressure Rating lb-in ( Nm) 88 lb-in (0 Nm) low haracteristics ctuator Type 7 lb-in (0 Nm) 0 Two-Way ontrol all alves have: an equal percentage flow characteristic. 7 lb-in (0 Nm) -position lose-off pressure rating (psi) -way -/, 00 -way -/ 0 -way way, -way -way, -way -way, -way lb-in ( Nm) 0 Three-Way ontrol all alves have: between ports and : an equal percentage flow characteristic. between ports and : a linear flow characteristic

Read these instructions carefully. ailure to follow them could damage the product or cause a hazardous condition.. heck ratings given in instructions and on the product to ensure the product is suitable for your application.. Installer must be a trained, experienced service technician.. fter installation is complete, check out product operation as provided in these instructions. Preparation Safety The valves are to be installed by skilled personnel and in strict accordance with the installation instructions and local regulations. Honeywell assumes no responsibility for damages or injuries resulting from non-compliance with installation instructions or standard good practice when mounting, operating, or maintaining the valves, even if not explicitly mentioned in the installation instructions. Observe all safety practices. UTION quipment amage Hazard. oreign particles like dirt and metal chips can damage the ball seals. or trouble-free operation of the product, good installation practice must include initial system flushing and chemical water treatment. lean the lines upstream of particles larger than /6 inch diameter (welding slag, pipe scale, sand and other suspended particulate). Use of a 0 mesh system side stream filter is suggested. Remove all filters before flushing. o not use boiler additives, solder flux and wetted materials which are petroleum based or contain mineral oil, hydrocarbons or ethylene glycol acetate. ompounds which can be used, with minimum 0% water dilution, are diethylene glycol, ethylene glycol, and propylene glycol (antifreeze solutions). If installing these valves in an addition to, or retrofitting an existing building, do not assume that the fluid in the existing piping meets these criteria. IMPORTNT:. Hold valve with pipe wrench by hexagonal fitting ONLY. o NOT handle the valve body with the pipe wrench; product damage may result.. lean the lines upstream of particles larger than /6 diameter (welding slag, pipe scale and other contaminants).. Proceed with installation once the system specifics (expansion/contraction of the system and its medium as well as operating pressures) are within tolerances.. liminate air from system.. ll the valves are marked to show proper direction. 6. low arrows must point in the direction of the flow for proper operation. If the valves are not installed in the correct orientation, improper flow or possible system damage could occur. 5 0, 0 ONTROL LL LS WITH LNG ONNTIONS alve Installation Location Select a location where the valve and actuator will be accessible once installed. llow sufficient space for servicing the valve and actuator. learance for valve installation is dependent on actuator size and the valve pipe size. See igures and for valve body dimensions. Refer to actuator literature for actuator dimensions.. lean the lines upstream of the valve to remove particles larger than /6 inch diameter (welding slag, pipe scale and other contaminants). Upstream installation of a 0 mesh strainer is recommended.. ir should be eliminated from the system so the valves remain full of fluid during operation.. Straight sections of piping upstream and downstream of the valves are not necessary for proper operation. Reducing bushings or flanges may be attached directly to valves. Standard adapters are adequate for installation of flow control valves.. Proceed with installation once the system specifics (expansion/contraction of the system and its medium as well as operating pressures) are within tolerances.. o not lift the valve by holding the stem. WRNING Severe urn Hazard. ontact with hot liquid can lead to severe injury or cause death. Release system pressure and isolate or drain the valve pipe section so the medium (water or glycol solution) does not leak out of the valve body during installation (see ig. 7). UTION lectrical Shock or quipment amage Hazard. an shock individuals or short equipment circuitry. isconnect power supply to the actuator to prevent electrical shock and equipment damage, or remove and cap the air line to the actuator. Mounting alve. efore installing the valve, rotate the valve stem to make sure that the valve stem operates freely. Impaired stem operation can indicate that the stem was bent by rough handling. This condition can require replacing the valve.. Protect the stem from damage due to bending or scratching.. or horizontal piping, install the valve so the actuator is above the valve body. Install the valve in any position between vertical and horizontal. o not install the valve with the stem below horizontal or upside down. or vertical piping, the actuator can be mounted in any orientation.. Hoist valve by its body only. o not lift by stem, bonnet, flanges, or flange holes. (See ig. 6 for proper hoisting method.) ig. 6. Proper hoisting of alves M7. Mount the valve between aligned pipes. Mounting the valve on pipes that are not aligned causes leakage at the valve-to-pipe connection. M9 ig. 7. Piping must prevent leakage M9 ig. 8. asic pipe orientation 6. Iron valves are mechanically compatible with standard NSI 0 lb flat-faced or raised-face steel flanges, or with lb cast iron flanges. 7. Release system pressure and drain the valve pipe section so the medium (water or glycol solution) does not leak out of the valve body during installation. 8. Mount three-way valves as shown in ig., according to whether they are to be used for mixing or diverting control. 9. Use a gasket material recommended for the medium to be handled
