1 Installation Instructions VG2000 Issue ate November 15, 2002 VG2000 Series ast Iron Flanged Globe Valves pplication VG2000 Series ast Iron Flanged Globe Valves are primarily designed to regulate the flow of water and steam in response to the demand of a controller in Heating, Ventilating, and ir onditioning (HV) systems. VG2000 Series ast Iron Flanged Globe Valves feature brass trim and are available in two-way Push-own-To-lose ([PT] normally open if pneumatically actuated) or Push-own-To-Open ([PTO] normally closed if pneumatically actuated) and three-way mixing configurations. These iron valves can be ordered with MP8000 Series pneumatic actuators (with or without a factory-mounted pneumatic or electro-pneumatic positioner). VG2000 Series valves can also be ordered with any of the following series of electric actuators: M9116, M9124, M9216, M150, V-310x, or V-610x. ll electric actuators are fully compatible with Johnson ontrols controllers, reducing installation costs. Valves without actuators can be ordered with the standard bonnet and stem design, allowing easy interchangeability of actuators with the use of standardized mounting kits. The modulating valve plug of VG2000 Series valves provides a modified linear flow characteristic. n arrow is cast on both sides of the valve body indicating the direction of flow for proper piping. ontact the local Johnson ontrols representative for compatibility concerns before using VG2000 Series flanged valves to control fluids other than those outlined in the Technical Specifications table at the end of this document. Location of Valve ata ach VG2000 Series ast Iron Flanged Globe Valve shipped from the factory includes a brass tag chained to the valve bonnet that features technical data about the valve. The technical data on the tag includes: the code number of the valve the flow coefficient v of the valve the manufacturing date code of the valve IMPORTNT: The VG2000 Series valves are intended to control the flow of saturated steam, hot water, and chilled water under normal operating conditions. Where failure or malfunction of a VG2000 Series valve could lead to an abnormal operating condition that could cause personal injury or damage to the equipment or other property, other devices (limit or safety controls) or systems (alarm or supervisory systems) intended to warn of, or protect against, failure or malfunction of a VG2000 Series valve must be incorporated into and maintained as part of the control system. Installation Install the VG2000 ast Iron Flanged Globe Valve with the actuator at or above the centerline. Wire all electrically actuated VG2000 valves in accordance with applicable electrical code requirements. In order for the valve to move in the proper direction, wire the input lines to the electric actuator correctly. Note: Protect electric and pneumatic actuators from dripping water, which could result in shortening the actuator s life. In addition, do not cover the actuator with thermal insulating material. Refer to Table 1 for installation instruction information.! UTION: Risk of quipment amage. Take care to prevent foreign material such as weld slag, thread burrs, metal chips, and scale from entering the piping system. This debris can damage or severely impede the operation of the valve by imbedding itself in the seats, scoring the seat, and ultimately resulting in seat leakage. If the debris becomes imbedded in the seats, subsequent flushing and filtering of the piping system with the valve installed will not remedy the problem Johnson ontrols, Inc. 1 Part No , Rev.

2 Servicing the ctuator or Piping System When servicing the actuator or the piping system, proceed as follows: isconnect the power supply to electric actuators or the input line to pneumatic actuators. Relieve the pressure in the piping system. When reconnecting wiring to the actuator, it must be done in accordance with applicable electrical code requirements. llow sufficient clearance to remove the actuator (refer to Figures 1 through 7 and Tables 2 through 8) Pipe the valve with the flow in the direction of the arrow on the valve body so that the plug seats against the flow. For installations using electric actuators, observe the following warnings and cautions:! WRNING: Risk of Personal Injury. The power supply must remain disconnected while reconnecting all wiring to the electric actuator. The pneumatic signal must remain disconnected while reconnecting pneumatic actuators. Failure to disconnect the power supply or pneumatic signal may result in personal injury.! UTION: Risk of quipment amage. heck that all wiring to the electric actuator is properly connected before reapplying power to the system. Short-circuited or improperly connected wires may result in permanent damage to the actuator.
