18 Further Development in the Winter Maintenance Sector FS 100 Technology - liquid de-icing material Increase of preventive gritting Gritting with pre-wetted salt (FS 30) established as a standard procedure The saline solutions used are CaCl 2 brine, MgCl 2 brine and NaCl brine Liquid de-icing material (FS 100) is an optimum solution for preventive gritting and the use of minor quantities at temperatures around 0 C The successive implementation of the use of liquid de-icing material (FS 100 on all federal motorways and in a second step on all federal highways is the priority objective of the BMVI Barcelona, 10 October 2014 BDir Dipl-Ing Manfred Silvanus 18
