3 CQAL AND COKE STATISTICS (a) Coal Producon. Imports 1 Exports Production of coal during the month of July amounted to 708,314 tons, a decrease of 17.1 per cent from the output in July, frodution of coal from stripping operations in July amounted to 151,456 tone, or 21.3 per cent of the total output. This was a decrease of 36.8 per cent from the strip mine output in July, Lended Imports of coal during the month under review amounted to 2,073,089 tons, a decrease of 17.1 per cent compared with landed Imports In July, Exports of coal for the month amounted to 22,847 tons, compared with 57,042 tons in the corresponding month of last year. 8 Coal and Coke 6 (b) Coke Production 1 Imports, Exports Production of coke from ovens and gas retorts during the month of July, 1957, axounted to 357,730 tone, as compared with 349,134 tons in the previous month and 369,664 tons in July, Tonnage produced during the month included 260,126 tons from Ontario. Charges to ovens or retorts during the month included 94,601 tone of Canadian coal and 409,329 tons of imported coal. Producers' stocks of oven and retort coke, excluding breeze, on July 31st, 1957, amounted to 151,506 tons, of which 69,746 tons were located in Ontario. Stocks of breeze totalled 58,319 tons. This included 26,350 tons reported by Ontario producers.
