3 The European GRP market The German composites association (AVK) has released its annual market report T Read more at: Anti-dumping measures against China Glass Fibre Europe claims that China is seizing European market share through aggressive state-planning, subsidies and overcapacity. China s New Materials five-year plan launched in 2012 seeks massive production of glass fibers - well above the internal demand which may lead to complete control of composite materials global market as well as other technologies of the future. Unfortunately EU anti-dumping measures on glass fibers imposed in 2011 did not create a level playing field. Chinese exporters are dumping glass fiber in Europe at prices that undercut local European manufacturers, rendering current anti-dumping duties ine!ective.to protect European manufacturers, an interim review of anti-dumping measures has been filed to EU. A new anti-subsidy complaint against Chinese exporters has been submitted as well. The investigation has been completed and the results are about to be released. We will keep you informed

4 Plastics Information Europe (PIE) NEWSLETTER Read more at: DSM congratulates Nuna7S with South African Solar win The Nuon Solar team has won the Sasol Solar Challenge 2014 in South Africa, finishing an impressive 1496 kilometers ahead of the runner up. Their Nuna7S car, containing DSM resins and built using DSM composite technology traveled from Pretoria to Cape town entirely on solar power. Combined with their previous successes in Australia s Solar Challenge, this win in South Africa firmly positions the Nuon Solar Team as a forerunner in sustainable transportation and one that DSM is proud to partner with. The Nuna7S shell was fabricated using DSM s Daron resins optimized for use with Textreme carbon fiber, resulting in a sti!, strong, yet lightweight vehicle. Because of their close-to-zero smell and solvent emissions, Daron resins are an environmentally preferred alternative to conventional styrene-based resin systems. After winning the 2013 World Solar Challenge in Australia, the vehicle was further improved for the Saso Solar Challenge The Nuon Solar Team is the first team ever that has won these two important solar challenges in under 12 months. By taking part in this race with the Nuna7S, DSM not only adds to its knowledge about these versatile materials, but it also demonstrates how serious DSM is about sustainable development.
