1 Lapisystem Technical scheme. Lapisystem is the robotized production system suitable for all machining processes in the stone workshop. Fast, flexible and easy to use, the Lapisystem is the perfect compromise between the traditional bridge saw and the most advanced CNC. Despite its compact design, it has a large operating envelope of 3.5m high and 7m radius. It can machine all type of stone (granite, marble, sandstone, limestone etc.) and with 6 operating axis it can perform complex 3D machining or more simple edge profiling, drilling, sawing and bevelling. It can be used in the production of sculptures, kitchen worktops, shower trays, solid sinks, bath tubs, fountains, fireplaces and architectural stonework.

3 T&D Robotics integrated robotic solutions allow our clients to purchase a plant which is able to perform the complete production cycle of kitchen countertops autonomously, from loading the slab, to unloading and storage, once the machining process has terminated. You can leave the robot to work through the night, and when you return the following morning, eleven kitchen countertops will be ready, in the storage area of the machine. In this manner, you will save space compared to a traditional machine doing the same job and, furthermore, the financial investment will be minor. For some, this could seem like a dream but it is called innovation; the example we have just cited describes the actual machine working in Generelli s laboratory near Lugano. 5 The cost of manual labour is increasingly high and so, ideally, workers should avoid dangerous and routine duties. This is particularly true in the stone processing industry where cutting and handling are currently key topics. Our contribution is to lower the risk associated with these delicate operations. T&D Robotics, thanks to its experience in industrial automation, is today able to offer, for the first time in the stone industry, production lines which are fully automated. Bettazza Graniti is among the forerunners to take advantage of the technological solution; during the day shift, the robot transfers the slabs by means of a roller bed to the grit blasting machine, and then, during the night shift, it cuts and then palletizes the slabs.
