1 The Vair Fax Corvair Lovers Holiday Report - Lillian Law James and I attended the Corvair Lovers Show at Pensacola Beach. Heart of Georgia Members and also members of Atlanta Corvair, Bill and Jeanette Rudolph, Wanda Cook were also attending. Richard and Sara Jenkins members of our Club were also there without a Corvair. We did not take a Corvair this year,just went to enjoy seeing our friends. This is a club with very few active members but they put on a very enjoyable event. We always go looking for warm weather but hardly ever get it. The beach is beautiful and many enjoyed a walk on the beach. We also enjoy the fresh seafood available for the Saturday night meal. There were 21 cars and 62 people registered. They had to work harder this year because they had to move in and out of the hospitality room. Thanks West Florida Corvair Club for a great event. From the Editor By now I imagine most people are g e t t i n g p r e t t y e x c i t e d a b o u t Springfest. I m still not sure if I ll make it, but I m sure it will be a great show. At this time we have 51 Springfest registrations. Several Heart of Georgia members have not registered. Save a stamp and hand Lillian you registration form at out March 14 meeting. We need preregistrations to make planning easier. We ll see you all on the 14th! I apologize for getting this newsletter out later than normal. I ll try to do better next month. THE SWAP SHOP FOR SALE: 1962 Corvair 4DR sedan. New ignition system, new carbs, new A/C compressor (installed, but not completely hooked to system). Good black interior seats, original tube radio works, almost new tires, good paint (Candy Apple) with just a few spots of surface rust under paint. In addition I have what I believe to be a complete engine for a 1960 Corvair, new pistons, cylinders, bearings, just is not put together, along with a transmission. I also have a complete engine for a 1963 (ran when pulled out). It has a new torque converter, new starter. Distributor is off of engine as well as carbs. 4 FEBRUARY MEETING MINUTES - HEIDI CLAMP This month's Valentines Day club meeting had the following in attendance: Keith and Sharon Burckingstock, Tommy and Joan Couch, James and Lillian Law, Chuck Smith, Shirley Smith, Joe and Rhonda-Gail Gleaton and their grandsons (Gabe and Isaac), Allen Miller, David and Penni Miller, Vernon Bryant, Mike and Dale Niday. Joe Gleaton welcomed everyone and wished everyone a Happy Valentines Day. We welcomed Mike and Dale Niday from Fitzgerald. (pronounced like Friday's). Mr. Niday's father was a Corvair factory trained mechanic. The Niday's bought a car from Lawrence Wright, a 1964 spider convertible. We voted on this years t-shirt color. A gorgeous South Carolina Gamecock Garnet was the winner! woot woot! Go cocks! We also voted to approve a donation to Jeff Barrett who is doing an across country drive in a 1965 Corvair Corsa to raise money for the Make A Wish foundation!!!! He obviously has great taste in cars and what an awesome contribution! Registrations for Springfest are coming in. Don't forget to get yours in!!!! We have an awesome new cooker to help the cooks this year! Although the food has always been fabulous! Don't forget about the Annual Corvair Convention in Knoxville, TN this year. Need to get your hotel reservations in as the hotels will fill up fast. the schedule for the convention reflects Concours is on Wednesday, Autocross is on Friday and the banquet is Friday night. The People's choice is on Saturday. Clark's Auto Parts has requested we run their ad in the newsletter which we will happily provide as they provide so much for us. If there is anything you would like for us to input in the newsletter please submit. Reminder: Dues for 2015 are now due. We are still a bargain at $12.00 for the year. They wanted my permission to use my Corvair as a prop for the pictures. I decided to let them use my Corvair. The theme was to be a winter theme, and they wanted a blue car to go with their theme. The whole thing turned out well. The photographer actually took these pictures and gave them to me since I let them use the car. The pictures were taken by Joy Robertson of Joyful Portraits. PAGE!4
