2 PRECAUTIONS PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY THESE PRECAUTIONS BEFORE THE INSTALLATION Be sure to disconnect the negative (-) lead from the battery terminals. Protect your car with fender covers, seat and so on. Do not pinch the rear wiring or harness in the tightened part. Use the correct tool when tightening bolts or nuts. When passing the wires through the dashboard or other panels, use a grommet to ensure waterproofing. Protect the wiring with tape when it is passed through a hole. Taping Waterproof - O.K.!! Grommet Before drilling a hole, check that the rear of the mounting wall is clear. When disconnecting the connectors, be sure to grip the connector body. Do not tug on the wiring. Stop it! Be sure to firmly tighten connectors and terminals. Insert completely Do not forcibly pull any car wiring harness. Rough tugging may result in opened connections, or a broken wire or harness. Before connecting the power wiring to the battery, check the wiring connections, harness, etc. to see that they are properly secured. Confirm that lamps, horn, wiper and other car accessories operate normally. Check body and trim near area of installation to be certain no dirt or scratches resulted from the installation. 9 4. Remove the cigar lighter (Step 1). Only for W2DIN. Fig Detach the 2 claws and remove the cover. Only for W2DIN. Fig Rotate the cigarette lighter socket to disengage the cigarette lighter bezel stay s notch from the socket hole. Only for W2DIN. Fig. 6 Hiace (LHD) - 9

12 WIRE HARNESS INSTALLATION 8 1. Cut the foam tape 8 into 4 large and 10 small pieces as shown in the illustration. 4x 10x Fig. 12 REVERSE SENSOR CONNECTOR 13 (Green) 2. Bundle and attach the excess reverse sensor wire (green) 13 as shown using wire ties Cut the red/white wire away and isolate. 8 Fig. 13 Hiace (LHD) - 12

13 Hiace (Hsbv) TNS 600 CONVERSION WIRE CONNECTION Route the speed sensor wire 2 and reverse wire 3 as shown in the illustration. Fig Fig WIRE SPLICING CONNECTOR INSTRUCTIONS 5. a) Remove appropriate amount of tape wrapping the vehicle side harness to be connected. b) Insert the vehicle harness 9 to be connected securely into the guide slit. c) After inserting the vehicle side harness into the guide slit, fix the splicing connector 10, and lock it securely using a plier 11 until the connector clicks. Black/Red wire Fig. 16 a) b) 4 4 Tab WIRE SIDE VIEW 16P 16P SPEED SENSOR CONNECTION 7. a) Take the meter assembly 4 so that the front is facing you. b) Turn the meter assembly so that the rear is facing you. c) Locate the most right 16P connector at the rear of the meter assembly 4. d) Turn the 16P connector so the wires face you and the tab is on top. e) Connect the speed sensor wire (violet/ white) 12 of the wire harness 2 to the wire of the fourth position from the left side of the row. f) Reconnect the 16P connector. g) Refit the meter assembly Speed signal 2 Fig. 17 Hiace (LHD) - 14

15 INSTALLATION OF THE GPS ANTENNA Remove the release paper. Attach the earth plate 10 to the meter cover 5 as shown and mount the GPS antenna 3 to the earth plate 10. Fix the antenna cord and antenna 3 using foam 8 (2x). 3 CAUTION: Clean the installation position surface before attaching the earth plate mm 25mm Fig Route the antenna cord 3 as shown in the illustration. 3. According to the illustration, return the meter cover 5 to its original position, without rubbing the GPS antenna 3 against the instrument panel. CAUTION: Be careful not to slip away the GPS antenna 3 from the earth plate Fig. 19 Hiace (LHD) - 15

16 Hce (Hsbv) TNS Fit the brackets to the audio assembly Fig a) Pre-fit the washer and screw to the lower left corner. Fig a) Connect the female 6P connector, the female 10P connector and the female 5P connector of the conversion wire 17 to the TNS (Refer to the wiring connection pag. 6). b) Connect radio and navigation antenna. c) Refit the audio assembly 15 using a washer and tapping screws. 16 : Tapping screw (4x) 25 : Washer (1x) 15 Fig. 22 Hiace (LHD) - 16

18 SYSTEM START UP POST-INSTALLATION INSPECTION 1. Inspect the wiring and installation for abnormalities. 2. Check with close attention for any locations where the vehicle harness, wire harness or divergence harness is being pushed, pulled or pinched with excessive force. Also check if clamps and bands are shifted out of the position and if all parts are tightened properly. OPERATION CHECK 1. Connect the (-) terminal of the battery and turn the ignition key to the ACC or ON position to start the engine. DISC MAP CAUTION Be careful not to injure your fingers when opening NOTICE Do not place any objects on the panel Do not leave the panel open when it is CLOSE Fig. 24 DVD-ROM INSERTION INTO THE NAVIGATION ECU INSTALLATION a) Connect the battery and turn the ignition switch to ACC position. b) Slide the eject switch of the Navigation ECU Installation to the left to open the disc insertion slot. c) With the label side of the disc facing up, insert the disc into the disc insertion slot. *The disc will be pulled into the Navigation ECU Installation automatically. d) Slide the eject switch of the Navigation ECU Installation to the right to close tthe disc insertion slot. 19 Hiace (Hsbv) TNS 600 POST-INSTALLATION INSPECTION Installation Check 1. Inspect the wiring and installation for abnormalities. 2. Check particularly closely for any locations where the vehicle harness, wire harness or divergency harness is being pushed, pulled or pinched with excessive force. Also check again that clamps and bands have not shifted out of position and that all parts have been tightened. Operation Check 1. Attach the (-) terminal of the battery and turn the key to the ACC or ON position or start the engine. 2. Press the NAVI switch and confirm that the navigation screen is displayed. 3. Adjust the volume by following the section on Adjusting the Volume of the Guide Voice in the TNS Owner s Manual, and confirm that the sound from the speakers changes. 4. Perform the auto-compensation procedure by following the section on When Tires are Replaced in the TNS Owner s Manual. When an abnormality is suspected, perform troubleshooting based on the Toyota Genuine Navigation System Service Manual. REASSEMBLING Return all vehicle parts that have been removed to their original locations. Especially make sure to attach trim and other interior materials properly so that they do not have a detrimental effect on the function of the vehicle. During restoration, make sure that wires are not pinched and all bolts and screws are tightened. ENSURE THAT ALL REMOVED CONNECTORS ARE PUT BACK CORRECTLY. REFIT THE TRIM AND REMOVED PARTS.
