They dispose of a modular operating mechanism positionned completely outside the wall. The circular fire damper has a fire resistance up to 120'. The refractory casing is made out of galvanised steel. This fire damper is especially designed for larger diameters up to 630 mm. The fire damper can be equipped with a common fusible link mechanism, up to a motorized mechanism. Reports of these tests form the basis for the approvals of our dampers. The damper needs to be rearmed manually. 4 MA: Upgradable automatic / remote controlled operating mechanism with fusible link The operating mechanism MA automatically unlocks the blade when the temperature in the duct exceeds 72. It can also close the damper by sending an electrical impulse (VD) or by interrupting the power supply (VM) to the magnet. Attention: Avoid any kind of damage Avoid contact with water Avoid deformation of the casing during the installation and sealing It is recommended: to unload in a dry area to avoid heavy shocks not to rotate the damper while moving it not to use the damper as a scaffold, working table, etc. not to store smaller dampers inside larger ones 5
6 In s ta l l at i o n The damper can be mounted with the axis in every position The damper has to be installed in conformity with the test report Avoid obstruction of adjoining ducts Position axis The fire damper is always tested in standardized supporting constructions (standard rigid wall/floor as well as standard flexible wall) according to NBN EN : 1999 table 3/4/5 'standarized supporting constructions'. The achieved results are valid for similar supporting constructions with a thickness and/or density equal to or bigger than the supporting construction used during the test. Examples of similar supporting constructions aerated concrete wall 100mm + density 550 kg/m³ + fire resistance 120' aerated concrete floor 150 mm + density 650 kg/m³ + fire resistance 120' - 240' flexible wall: metal stud + gypsum plasterboard: 100mm + fire resistance 60' masonry in hollow or full bricks, reinforced concrete, aerated concrete, light concrete,... concrete elements, pre-stressed concrete,... metal stud + Rf-boards, several layers of gypsum cardboard Installation in rigid wall, floor and ceiling The damper was tested in a concrete wall of 100mm as well as in an aerated concrete floor with a thickness of 150&125mm. S 2. Mount the damper in the opening. The damper needs to exceed the wall/ floor/ceiling by 230 mm on the side of the mechanism. As the mechanism needs to be accesible at all times, you need to provide a free working space of min. 200 mm. If the mechanism is not accesible you need to provide an inspection shutter (e.g. false ceiling). 3. 7 Installation in flexible wall - Metal stud gypsum plasterboard wall The damper was tested in a metal stud gypsum plasterboard wall with a minimum fire resistance of 60' and a thickness of 100mm. A metal stud gypsum plasterboard wall consists of: A metal framework made out of horizontal and vertical metal studs (min. width 50 mm) Stonewool with a thickness of 40 mm and a density of 40 km/m³ between the boards Double boarding: two standard gypsum boards on both sides 50 min. ( n+50) 1. Provide a minimal installation opening in the wall = (Ø n +50)mm x (Ø n +50) mm + horizontal reinforcements. 2. Attach two standard gypsum boards with a thickness of 12,5 mm at one side of the metal stud wall. Insulate the wall between the metal studs. 3. Finish with two standard gypsum boards. 4. Attach the lower coverplate with chipboard screws. 5. Mount the damper in the wall. 6. Attach the upper coverplate and the damper with chipboard screws. 7. Fill the joint S between the damper and the wall completely with stonewool through the backside of the wall (min.density 40 kg/m³). 8. Switch off the power supply for at least 10 sec. 2. Supply the actuator for at least 30sec. (respect the prescribed voltage). 3. The rearmation stops automatically when detecting a torque > 20 Nm! Switch off the power supply after rearmation! Switch off the power supply for at least 15 sec. in between each rearmation cycle.
