4 4 Roofmaster STEC non-insulated version - Technical Catalogue GENERAL DESCRIPTION APPLICATION/SPECIFICATION STEC non-insulated roof fan is designed to be used for the extraction of exhaust air and other non-aggressive gases where low energy consumption, simple construction and demand controlled ventilation are required. It can be installed directly on the concrete or alternatively on a roof curb. The existing unit can be exchanged by using an installation frame, which is always included as standard in the delivery of STEC roof fan (sizes ). STEC is equipped with high efficiency EC-motors with integrated speed controller. The plastic impeller is optimized for high efficiency. The casing and motor-impeller-combination can be opened for easy service and maintenance. The fan is discharging vertically. FEATURES 8 sizes Volume flow rate up to 4.5 m 3 /s ( m 3 /h) Max pressure rise up to Pa MATERIAL AND DESIGN The casing is made of black pre-painted galvanized sheet metal or aluminum and zinc coated sheet metal. Surface treatment meets requirements for environmental class C4. The fan discharges upwards. MOTOR AND IMPELLER The fans use external rotor EC motors with integrated speed controller. The motor is in the airstream and is cooled by the exhaust air. The impeller is made of plastic and has backward curved blades. The IP class for the motor is IP 54, insulation class is B and all motors are equipped with thermal overload protector (TOP) that is internally connected. Fan can be equipped with an EC controller. All fans are balanced to meet the vibration level of 4.5 mm/s RMS ISO WIRING CHARTS Wiring charts are presented on pages SPEED CONTROL Motor speed can be controlled using analog 0-10 V signal or using an EC controller. EC CONTROLLER The EC controller is installed inside the casing (not available for size 190). It can be ordered as a ready-to-be-used part, in which case it is included in the fan ordering code (see codes on page 31). The EC controller is, however, not automatically included in the standard version of STEC so please check the ordering codes. The EC controller includes the following operations: Single-speed use: speed is set using Low potentiometer Two-speed operation is set using Low and High potentiometers Relay output can be selected for either alarm or running indication 0-10 V control from BMS (Building Management System)

5 Roofmaster STEC non-insulated version - Technical Catalogue 5 EASY INSTALLATION AND SERVICE Installation is presented in the installation manual and various control possibilities in a separate section of this catalogue. DEMAND CONTROLLED VENTILATION Demand controlled ventilation, DCV, is required by ErP Regulations. In practise this means that all roof fans shall be equipped with a speed controller. STEC roof fan range with EC motor has an integrated speed controller and thus the whole fan range is fully ErP compliant also in this sense. Using DCV it is easy to adjust the correct fan speed and optimize the energy consumption. Different sensors and controllers can be connected to the speed control system. STEC can be installed on the concrete or on a roof curb using an installation frame. The existing unit can be exchanged by using an installation frame, which is always included as standard in the delivery of STEC roof fan (except the smallest size 190). The fan is equipped as standard with an opening mechanism that can be locked to open position. The impeller can be easily cleaned, if necessary. The mounting frame can be installed on the existing base made of concrete or on a roof curb. STEC roof fan size 190 is delivered without the mounting frame. The fan can be installed on the concrete or on a roof curb. As the fans have as standard the possibility to adjust the fan speed it is easy to replace the existing fan and adjust the air flow.

EC CONTROLLER With a speed controller it is possible to get a single-speed or a two-speed operation. The relay output provides with alarm or running indication that can be selected by the DIP switch. Speed can also be controlled by 0-10 V via BMS (Building Management System). The EC controller can be ordered and supplied as a part of the roof fan, connected to cable. It is not available for size 190. Please see the fan ordering codes. Internal cabling is carried out at the factory. Information for the user is available in the installation manual. Modbus RTU communication with EC motor is still possible in fan sizes

The insulation is backed with perforated sheet metal. The roof curb is equipped with two cable glands and one built-in conduit, which can accommodate two cables for electrical connection to the roof fan. Adjustable mounting brackets, which can be set to suit the pitch of the roof, are fitted to the outside of the roof curb. There are shutter plates located inside the roof curb. Roof fan can be installed on the roof curb using the mounting frame that is included in the roof fan delivery as standard. The roof curb is made of aluminum and zinc coated sheet metal.
