4 1 Introduction The Trimble FMX Display Kit Manual is intended to be used in conjunction with the UC5 Spray Height Control Installation Manual. This manual provides instructions to interface the UC5 Control Module to the Trimble FMX Display. Trimble part numbers are subject to change without notice. 1.2 Alternate Cabling If the control module is mounted on the sprayer of a pull-type sprayer (non-isobus ready tractor) (Section 2.2.3), cable C42 is required to replace C40. 5 2 Installation The following instructions are for installation on a self-propelled sprayer (Section 2.1) or pull type sprayer (Section 2.2). 2.1 Self-Propelled 1. Securely mount the control module (E01) inside the sprayer cab. 2. Tee the CANbus interface cable (C40) between the Trimble cable and the ISOBUS trunk cable that runs to the back of the sprayer. 3. Connect the 6 pin Deutsch plug on cable C40 to the end of the control module with only one Deutsch connector. 4. Connect cable C01 to the other CANbus connector and route the cable towards the rear of the sprayer. Note: Not all cables listed in the List of Parts (Section 1.1) are used for this type of installation. Figure 1: Self Propelled Sprayer Installation 3

6 2.2 Pull Type Control Module on Tractor (Non-ISOBUS Ready Tractor) 1. Securely mount the control module (E01) inside the tractor cab. 2. Tee the CANbus interface cable (C40) between Trimble cable and Trimble cable Connect the 6 pin Deutsch plug on cable C40 to the end of the control module with only one Deutsch connector. 4. Connect cable C41 to the CANbus connector and route the cable to the hitch of the tractor. Connect the two-way coupler (E12) to the end of cable C Connect cable C01 to the coupler (E12) and route towards the rear of the sprayer. The two-way coupler (E12) will provide the hitch disconnect. 7 2.2.2 Control Module on Tractor (ISOBUS Ready Tractor) 1. Securely mount the control module (E01) inside the tractor cab. 2. Tee the CANbus interface cable (C40) between Trimble cable and Trimble cable Connect the 6 pin Deutsch plug on cable C40 to the end of the control module with only one Deutsch connector. 4. Connect cable C41 to the CANbus connector and route the cable to the hitch of the tractor. Connect the two-way coupler (E12) to the end of cable C Connect cable C01 to the coupler (E12) and route towards the rear of the sprayer. The two-way coupler (E12) will provide the hitch disconnect. 8 2.2.3 Control Module on Sprayer (Non-ISOBUS Ready Tractor) Cable C42 is required for this type of installation. Securely mount the control module (E01) on the sprayer near the CANbus connection. 2. Tee the CANbus interface cable (C42) between Trimble cable and the IBRC connector. 3. Connect the 6 pin Deutsch plug on cable C42 to the end of the control module with only one Deutsch connector. 4. Connect cable C01 to the other CANbus connector and route the cable towards the rear of the sprayer. 9 2.3 Switch Box Installation The switch box is an optional component to make the operation of the UC5 easier. An extra label is provided if the operator would like to remove the switches from the box and mount them in another location. 1. Disconnect cable C20 (Thru 2 connector) from the Input Module (E03). Remove the wedge from the face of the 12 pin Deutsch plug. 2. Insert the Roll CW pin from C26 into position 3 of the 12 pin plug on C20. Insert the Roll CCW pin from C26 into position 4 of the 12 pin plug on C20. Insert the wedge back into the plug. Connect C20 to the Thru 2 connector on the Input Module. 3. Connect the 12 pin Deutsch plug on C26 to the OEM 3 connector on the input module. Route the other end of the cable to the hitch of the sprayer (pull type) or to the cab (self propelled). 4. Attach the switch box (C25) inside the cab and connect it to cable C26. An extra label is provided with the switch box if you prefer to remove the switches from the housing and mount them in the existing sprayer switch panel. * Some sprayer types may not use all the switch functions.
